Completely agreed with René. I have been saying that for so many years. Use the word Americans to identify people from the United States is so wrong and delusive. Any body who lives in any of the America's.: North, South or Central, deserved to be called Americans. Also incorrect is when they ask you if you are American citizen. I'm a USA citizen, not american. I'm glad that someone like you bring this up and hope that eventually the term gets corrected.
I wish he could express himself in English the way he dose in Spanish. Though I don't always agree with him, he makes sense on alot of topics. Makes you think, see things in other perspective thru his art form. Blessing to him 💓

I saw an interview where he said that the collab was gonna happen but the people that were organizing the whole thing wanted Residente to rap/write in English and he wasn’t into that. His forte is Spanish and they wanted him to comply to his second language which is not fair.
He is the most underappreciated rapper. His verses are on fire and he can spit nasty. Yes take away the grammys and he can lyrically kill anyone on the mic.

I appreciate Residente, but I disagree. The word America or American(s) is not meant to be exclusionary. It’s a word that helps us describe a group of people. People from North American and South American are also Americans per se, but US citizens don’t have any other word to describe themselves except American. I think we should just let it be, but also just understand the nuance of the word.
This is just a political/cultural word game for influence. Why is it that no American nation-state adopted the name of the continent in its official country's name when they gained independence from Europe? Only the United States of America did. If Rene really cared about his "Americaness", he should start identifying himself as such instead of as a "Puertorican".
