Wow! I recognized the Double Eagle sleeper and generator box right away! They custom built every one of those, I got one of the last ones they made installed on my FLD 120 condo at Double Eagle right before they went out of business! (2008'ish) They got container loads of Kubota diesel's and the Marathon generator heads, and built them in house from scratch! The Double Eagle sleepers of that vintage were built very well, and stood up to the test of time! What a great truck!

Awesome Wayne. A friend of mine was talking about this truck earlier this year and was wondering what happened to it. He thought it was scrapped. Glad to see the family still owns it. @@Ol2Stroker very good question glad you asked. They were the leader in steering wheel production. Also known as Sheller Globe. I had a 75 Marmon with one. Most Pete's 40's thru 70's used them generally 22 inch cuz power steering was non existent. They are rare. Sheller had similar looking models in various sizes.I would say they were done sometime in the 70's. They just look so cool

I love Detroits!! My first job was a non driving job with a city bus company in the early 1970s. They all had Detroits from some older 471s & 671s, to newer 6V53s & 6V92s ranging from 1947 to 1969 models. Those engines ran forever and almost never blew and needing complete replacement. This sure sings beautiful music.
On your comments about electric cars. I think the experiment will fail if they insist on it being a 100% electric car fleet. The earth doesn't have the raw materials and we don't have the electric grid right now for necessities let alone an electric car fleet.

Make them poor, render them dependent, slash their range of mobility to ribbons. YT hasn't suggested anything useful or interesting in forever. everything I'm subbed to I searched out myself. What a fantastic, old truck! So much potential and it sounds great. Back in the 70's and into the 80's, before truck manufacturers started making their own deluxe sleepers, companies like Double Eagle were the best and most expensive. Double Eagle sleepers were custom built items for the kings of the road. I think the number one manufacturer of APU's back then was Onan.

Awesome truck! She sounds great. My family knows a custom harvesting owner family that my grandparents became friends with somewhere in the late 50s/early 60s. They had an awesome (somewhat insane) grain truck in the late 70s. They used a conventional frame, 16V71 engine, 13 speed main trans & 4 speed aux trans, tandem drives with lockers & a Transtar II cab & grain box. The truck was super cool & had 6" straight pipes. Loud as ever in the mornings when they were getting ready to go to work. They used it to haul 2 headers in the box & tow a combine behind while moving from town to town. I think it still made consistent 6 to 7 mpg when loaded pulling a 28' pup. Seeing the 12V shoehorned in this truck reminded me of how that truck had both trannies out behind the cab.
Love the flag & pole. As for the whole electric car thing, I believe the plan to be to control how much we can travel when we don't like the job markets/quality of life issues coming up. Of course, it will probably suck everywhere.

@@Ol2Stroker I don't know. I haven't talked to them since 2004. They quit doing custom harvesting & concentrated on their own farm in Oklahoma. They still used the truck along with a similar one with a 12V in 2003. That was the last year they traveled from Oklahoma to Texas & then up to Indiana, over to Montana, & back to Oklahoma. They made the truck with the original plan for a 3408 Cat, but when it wasn't usable, found a guy with a 12V. That engine had something wrong as well, so he sold them the running 16V. They wanted the ability to haul more grain without more trucks, & needed the dump bed to haul the headers, so the pup was used. They towed it, as well as the 2nd pup when they built the other truck, between jobs with their old Ford cab over fuel truck that was running a Silver 92 & 15 speed. The old 2 strokes were freaking awesome. As you fully know, they work forever & you can overhaul them with a liner tool & regular tool set. The only thing they require is twice the air flow as the other brands.

I got to steer rigs in the fifties, and come the sixties, was driving for a living, well throw in wrench on what you drive as well. Jobs were easy for me to get and different companies would offer more or better or great looking so paychecks might be from a few different companies and most all used the same bookkeeper in town so I would pick my checks up at the end of a week or how ever paid... some never did pay cause I quit for someone else. What brought it to mind was your naming all the different models and I remembered the different cabs or the tattlers on the column that you punched in the card for pay.. it showed the truck idling or parked or full bore.. did not take long for us to kill everyone we seen... I got into a new truck and it had the tattler in it... stepped back down and told him my show up isn't necessary as I quit! He asked why an I pointed at the tattler... he took a hammer and smashed it, said we will have it out of the rig before the month is out. I just wonder if I did ever get to drive all of the different models and makes
