- After receiving so many requests after uploading the VHS opening, here is the full episode of They Think It's All Over: No Holds Barred. This special edition was never shown on TV, only released on VHS in 1996. This is the only They Think It's All Over episode I have so please don't send me requests.

At its peak TTIAO was the jewel in the BBC's crown. Shame nobody seems to remember it from back in the glory days of Lee Hurst when it was still brilliant
Shame he turned out to be a racist anti-vax loon.
@@ob2395 can't disagree sadly. His will always be the first stand up video I ever owned though, no matter what rubbish he comes out with now
Johnathan Ross made it better!!! he was crass and funny
Only fools played a big part aswell
It’s been memory holed by the bbc because it’s now contains wrong think and hate speech.
Used to have this on VHS. Glad to see someone eventually transferred it to digital media here on CZcams. Nice work.
Had this on vhs too. Used to watch it with my late mam, teared up watching it here again. Thanks for posting it!
Had this on VHS as well. I must’ve watched it about 100 times. Absolute gold.
Lee Hurst made this show worth watching. Very funny man.
was always better with Lee. Jonathan Ross is a dick who doesn't shut up or let anyyone else speak. Lee Hurst was a comedic team player.
Every single Dad in the country got this for Christmas that year.
What I find amazing is that so many people had video players in the 90's, but no-one to date has been able to provide the early seasons on CZcams, when this show was at its finest, with the dynamic between Gower/Hurst and Lineker/McGrath so refreshingly funny. Ross WAS funny when he took over from Hurst, but something was lost a little. I would dearly adore the first three or four series of this show in full, and if anyone reading this has them on an old dusty VHS, POST IT UP! PLEASE!
David Gower is 39 in this video. When I was a kit I always assumed he was in his 50s at this time
From a round of Author Author in a Series 6 episode (1998) where somebody wrote about getting David Gower's autograph when they were younger and it having a "profound effect" on them (turned out it was David's teammate Roger Black)...
Annabel Croft: We've got to work out how this person is. How old's David?
David: _[Sweeping what remains of his hair flirtingly]_ ...How old do I look?
Nick: I don't know but he fought in the First World War!
Annabel: Well what age would this person be? We've got to think of somebody young.
David: _[under Annabel]_ Er... 41. 41 and feeling good.
Phill Jupitus: Yes, but he's 41 in badger years.
YESSSS ive been looking for this for years GET IN THERE!!!!
Classic!
I used to have this on VHS somewhere?
Much appreciative for the upload mate!
David Gower is 38/39 years old in this video. Imagine that. I can't think anyone else who has always been "old".
The American actor Steve Martin?
Roy Walker
morgan freeman
Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Morgan Freeman
i was searching for 'A league of their own" and this popped in my head. how much better was that. dnt even remember the bald guy but how funny is he.
Thanks for upload what a show!
I remember watching this I was 14 absolutely brilliant series
Thanks for uploading!
Had this on video and watched all the episodes during my uni days 24 years ago! Wow 👍
Forgotten about this show and how good it was, and that Gary was on it
Really appreciate the upload, loved this show, the sports day commentary had me in tears. Sore cheeks.
Have a sub, good work. 👍
Was so disappointed when they cancel this show, was absolutely brilliant, and then they kept moving the times around and by the end they said it had lost viewers, is it any wonder when they kept messing around with it. Glad I found on here, looking forward to watching them all, thanks for uploading.
Me too :-)
Ah, they call it "Selling ice cream in winter.". It's a dirty tactic, often used by TV stations, to justify axing an actually popular show. Although They Think It's All Over was a big success for the BBC, it was a threat to A Question Of Sport. It was actually the more popular show, for a while. AQOS started to look creaky and old fashioned, by comparison, so it had to copy TTIAO to survive. It worked, but it resulted in there being two very similar shows competing with each other on home turf. If you axe one, the other becomes stronger by gaining most of the others' former viewers. So the BBC started to deliberately put TTIAO in dodgy and inconsistent slots, whilst simultaneously putting AQOS in prime positions. Then they justify axing TTIAO by pointing out that it isn't very popular anymore. Which is the same as trying to justify that ice cream isn't popular, because you've deliberately sold it in winter when fewer people want it.
@97channel I appreciate your extensive and quite excellent explanation of how that all(most likely) happened. Thanks 😎👍
@@97channel well all i got to say is that they should of cancelled shitty question of sport i couldn't stand that show wasn't funny at all
Lee Hurst was fantastic. Went off the boil when he left
I had this on video, loved it.
I think I burnt this VHS out back in the day!
Sports day was class :)
I lost it when Gerald Sinstadt said Rory McGrath was banned for 4 years after traces of glue were found...in his urine that is. This was the funniest show on television.
It’s Barry davies
@@dannyellis8030 No it's Gerald Sinstadt
Used to absolutely love this!
Proper real funny show this was 👌I belly laugh at this still to this day
we need the entire series of this on here. Every single episode.
I think they are tbh. Needs to be brought back! Must be Nick Hancock hosting though!
@@edwardmorgan5373 i don't think Nick Hancock is alive i think i remember reading it some where or seeing it on the news
@@benconway9010 He's still around, he's just retired from TV.
Never watched this show before, amazing.......
excellent isn't it
Was from the 90s
Remember this like it was just last year I loved this programme
I used to have this on video and loved it but over the years misplaced it and that was that - or so I thought!
Thanks for the upload, I enjoyed watching it again!
The 90s!!!!! 😥😥😥
*RIP Gerald Sinstadt*
14:04 I love this part. I have this special on VHS.
Years later, solar powered street lighting is everywhere. :D
Thankyou for posting
Carl Esquire Oscar100
they look so young and fresh faced here... even gower lol
Best quiz show ever
Why isn't this back on our screens, loved this show!
Terrible choices of replacement captains for Lineker and Gower (Wright, Seaman, Tufnell and Becker) killed it.
+crazymaner2003 and Lee Mack presenting it in the last series the show lost complete identity.
I totally agree
PeteTop Carton why isn’t Nick Hancock on telly more? I liked him
This is the only episode I have.
This show was the nuts. Went right downhill though when Lee Hurst left. Hugely popular at the time, but much forgotten about now. The only downside to it was that it poisoned A Question Of Sport, which started to copy it and has been a limp biscuit ever since.
Seems like a lot of people had noticed that Man U were allowed extra injury time until they scored the winner in those days.
The Sports Day commentator is ex- Granada football commentator Gerald Sinstadt.
jbclaret1983 he had some great lines
sounds like Barry Davies tho
"I never give 'im out LBW, he never got his pads in front!"
11:03 first time I have ever seen Rory speechless 😂
Hit too close to home.
44:58 or wait 26 years and watch it on CZcams - Haha. Not forward thinking enough Lee.
You didn't have to be a sports fan to enjoy this show.
Last year, the three legged race was won by Linford Christie on his own.
Even Rory didn't admit to having the 2nd photofit and he had a lot of them. Sports Day was quality
This was miles better than the league of their own.
C'est Classique.
Yes, I credited Barry Davies on the Guardian's Classic CZcams feature, for which I humbly apologise. Actually, Sinstadt is a much more appropriate choice for this show. Can't think why...
Add Neil Morrissey to that list - doesnt get much more 90s!
🎶 Dennis Law scores a goal for a team in blue 🎶
Bring this show back
Solar power street lights future prediction by lee
So that is where Gordon Strachan got his 'blame the bus driver' excuse from when Coventry City failed to win a single Premier League away match in season 1999/2000 when he was manager & after winning at Southampton in a mid week match in August 2000 he came out with his excuse on Match Of The Day.
The three legged race was last won by Linford Christie on his own - hahahahahahaha that really cracked me up.
'Down, then, goes McGrath and the sad news is that he had to be put down. After the doctor told him he was a useless gutbucket.' 😂😂
This show would be deemed politically incorrect if it was aired today.
Gary would be the first one on Twitter apologising and throwing his co stars under the bus 😅
+Confused One got no time for political correctness
Matey almost killed himself with a bit of shrapnel when starting the egg and spoon race
😂😂 can anyone find what episode Rory Mcgrath does the guess the person cards, and does a hilarious impression of berti vogts when he was scotland manager at the time
I think this is the only time where all three team members got in on the action in Feel the Sportsman.
The only other times the guests - by which I don't mean guest captains - getting in on the action are:
-Series 1 Episode 3 (first TX 28/09/1995) where Jo Brand took Rory McGrath's place alongside Gary Lineker to use all her senses bar sight to identify equestrian Lucinda Green. When Gary clocked on that their guest was female by accidentally groping one of Green's breasts, Nick remarked "Now you can understand why we couldn't let Rory go up there!"
-Series 2 Episode 2 (first TX 19/03/1996) where Sharron Davies joined Rory in identifying former athlete Derek Redmond (Sharron's then-husband), with Rory using almost the whole round to move in on Sharron. Bob Mills was due to take part with Lee Hurst, but had a claustrophobia attack as soon as the guest (a Gary Lineker Subbuteo figurine) was brought on stage, so David had to do the game instead.
-Series 6 Episode 4 (first TX 03/12/1998) where Gabby Logan (then Gabby Yorath) declared she wanted to play the game, so she played in David Gower's place alongside Jo Brand to feel up Commonwealth Games gold medal winning fencer James Williams, and Pauline McLynn took Gary's place alongside Rory to touch up female wrestler Klondyke Kate.
-Series 16 Episode 4 (first TX 07/10/2003) where Jodie Kidd replaced David Seaman to feel up her then-boyfriend polo player Tarquin Southwell, and Kirsty Gallacher took Phil Tufnell's place to help Wossy touch up polar explorer Pen Hadow.
-Series 17 Episode 2 (first TX 16/01/2004) where Chris Tarrant was asked to take an injured David Seaman's place in the round in order to identify the Ladies' World Freshwater Angling Championships, potentially playing into Tarrant's fondness for fishing. (This episode was recorded just before David Seaman retired as a player and was transmitted just after his announcement and was preceded by a mock "in memoriam" announcement by Nick)
-Series 17 Episode 7 (first TX 21/02/2004) where returning guest Lee Hurst was asked to help Rory manhandle boxer Steve Spartacus.
Didn't Fatima Whitbread sue Talkback Productions for that joke? Or one similar?
Used to have this vhs!! "Not bad, for a fat bloke"
They just dont make em like they used to 👆🤌
Miss this show. Rory selected for random drug testing so funny
Love the Pakistan cricket and Man U references.
Someone tell Rory they don't have intervals at football matches, it's called half-bloody-time, ffs!!
They got away with a twat joke at a school, in front of the kids. Ahh, the 90's.
The good old days of a panel show which had just had men on it, you would never get away with it in this day and age of outrage culture.
Lol some of you cyber cavemen are too much
What happened to nick hancock? He should be on telly more
Tokyo Joe last I heard he was a mortgage broker.
He now lives in Shrewsbury with his Iranian-born wife Shari and their two children. He's done bits and bobs of television and radio since leaving They Think It's All Over, including a short-lived Saturday evening gameshow on ITV called Duel, but nothing major, but I think he prefers it that way, as he's never really thought of himself to be a celebrity, just some podgy croaky bloke from Stoke having a bit of a laugh with some mates, even if he now thinks that sometimes they may have gone too far (see his apology last year to Luke Chadwick).
The sportsday is so nostalgic - mitre footballs, shorts that are too shorts!
I thought this show was a bit mean spirited to be honest, they pretty much bullied David Gower each episode.
Luckily David Gower was a good sport and clearly has a great sense of humour
Back in the days when comedy was on TV before the world went PC.
Loved this programme until Woss and Gower started to brag about their MBEs and abuse Lee.Never watched it again.
Ally McCoist was funnier than this when he was sleeping!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really enjoyed this show during the 90's. It still is, in my opinion the funniest panelist show to date. I didn't realise how anti-United Nick Hancock is. A few of them on that show seemed to represent the hatred of United. Jealousy is such a nasty thing. I also love how Rory Mcgrath mocks the location of United supporters yet here is a man, from Cornwall supporting his beloved Arsenal..hmmm.
No professional association football teams in Cornwall.
Nick Hancock spent most of his time on this show slagging off everyone else.
Wtf has he done except for failing spectacularly to be funny?
Clive Bindley he was excellent on this show with perfect delivery of them lines
That was his job. The whole point if the show was taking the piss out of sportsmen, which he did brilliantly
Gary Lineker had no charisma on this show. Even his scripted jokes were not funny.
This show is the start of all the comedy game shows of today like 8 out of 10 cats the big fat quiz and the likes i loved this show tried never to miss it when it was on and this video edition is hilarious especially the school sports day 😂 😂😂😂
