I can see what Riley was telling her parents and I feel they misunderstood what she was saying. She wasn't clear on what she said to them. What she was trying to say is that sometimes she and Maya needed space every now and then, but they felt her parents were everywhere and they thought that they were gonna be all over place watching everything they do and following them everywhere. No one likes that. Of course they love their parents and being around them, just not all the time. They needed personal space and time alone to think every now and then which was what they were asking for. When I tell my parents I need space, I mean that as needing time alone to think and that personal space is very important to everyone. I think if Riley was being clear about that, they would have understood that better. My parents are very understanding, and they always gave me space and lots of alone time when I needed it. You can't always have your parents being everywhere you're at.
