Thank you! What a set list, Wow.
@@iamozzman990 only wished they played mayday other than that it’s perfect
@@garrettpraznik194 Left out Lady Of Winter too
Criminally underrated band. Such an amazing group.
The 80es is the golden era of heavy metal!!!
I had the pleasure of seeing this lineup in 1989 at L'AMOUR in Brooklyn. Incredible show and very nice guys to meet after the show. RIP Midnight.
Kevin Richards RPM Vocal Studio wow I've seen so many bands in L'amour Brooklyn from White zombie to Death, immortal soul, seputura and the list goes on and on and on. You just brought me back a lot of unforgettable memories.
I HATE YOU!!! jk I probably wasn't born yet..but I actually live a few blocks from lamours. I went there a bunch before it closed from 2001-2003.
I saw CG on a festival in the Netherlands, back in the day - and Midnight was actually better on pitch than in this video. I distinctly remember Red Sharks, and those unbelievably high notes in the bridge after the solo, and those were absolutely spot-on...
Amazing band.
RIP Midnight.... 🙏
Dio, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson ,in my conception Midnight is among them as the best heavy metal vocalists of all time
And Klaus Meine in his prime.
Midnight is very unique vocalist, but is stupid to compare him with Halford, Bruce an Dio. He is maybe highest pitch vocalist (John Cyriis "Agent Steel" in his younger days was also).
Ad Eric Adams and Micheal Kiske to that list and the top six are complete.
King Diamond , Tony Martin ,David Wayne too Metal Gods 🤘🏻
Roy Khan as well.
This singer is unbelievable, his range is massive, the change of tones, melodies, etc. I'm a guitarist and some of his high pitches can only be achieved with harmonics on the guitar, unbelievable, on top of that you hear colour after colour on his voice in a single sentence, wow!!
I think he hits b5 plus - e7 is your top note on a 24 fret guitar.
@@brendanoneil3489 It's not just about the fundamental note. Midnight's overtones are at times much higher than the fundamental note. In music every instrument has it's unique sound because of over and undertones. Some instruments are made to focus more on the fundamental, like most western orchestra instruments, since they have to get together and play, if the overtones are too rich on all the instruments then it's muddy and can lose distinction. But some instruments are made to resonate with more overtones, like the clavichord, which within a few octaves actually vibrates most of the sounds within hearing range. Harpsichords also do it but not to the extent of the clavichord. And a piano is deliberately dampening the full potential of notes so it can have wider octave range.
@@asherasator 'formant' I can scream b5 up to e7 whistle, but it is all about the overall tone.
Many singers can scream in amazing high notes. Midnight sings up there.
E6 is the top note on a guitar, but yes.@@brendanoneil3489
What a band! Midnight sounded phenomenal 🥹🤘💗
This is fucking unbelievable!!!!! I am thrilled to know it's being shared!!! Midnight will always be Forever Loved...Fiercely Missed..and NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!!
I have seen many bands live over the years but somehow CG (fav album is Trancendence....one of my absoulute favs from that era (Rage For Order by Queensryche no 1) never played live in Scandinavia at that time. I still listen to s/t and Trancendece over and over.....immortal music.......
The most underrated heavy metal band of all time and Trascendence is one of the ten best heavy metal album so far!
This band created a myth never surpassed by any one else, RIP Midnight, thank you CG for all the masterpieces you made!
In Dark Places is their finest moment....Jon Drenning's solo is a masterpiece
Midnight was the one of the tops singers of the 80s beside halford the dude hit some notes no one could ever back then and never will, wasn't very well known but could out sing anyone
I also like Carl Alpert from Vicious Rumors
Midnight was indeed something else, but have you ever heard of John Cyriis of Agent Steel?
@@GzsvPfalz oh yes of course, he sort of had that very nasal sound.
Bruce Dickinson was pretty good as well!
John Arch
Man, these guys were note-perfect live. Wouldn't have thought it possible. Bummer the quality's so bad; I'd trade most of my immediate family (you can't have the dog) for a good copy of this.
My first reaction was close to yours. And then I realized I like these songs so much that it doesn't matter to me anymore...
😂😂
My god, this is absolutely sureal, out of this world!! This is future of heavy metal, only if fate hadn't had other plans... Midnight is unmatched singer. There may be singers with better technical quality, but his emotional expression with voice can't be surpassed. He is missed forever...
This is amazing!! I would really love a copy on DVD and being a hardcore fan of the band! I'm originally from Florida all my life until 30 years old then moved to the Bay Area and two of my favorite albums of all time are the first Crimson Glory records I love the masks they wear! Very Original! Long Live C.G.!
I will never forget this show!! I was only 18yrs old🤘R.I.P.(MIDNIGHT)JPM🤘
Absolute Perfection. Nobody can/will ever match this era of the band.
Don't believe me? Listen to Transcendence, really LISTEN to it.
You are missed greatly John Patrick McDonald but I know that you are in a better place and that you are much happier. \m/
dude was unreal... rip midnight
Transcendence is nothing short of a Masterpiece..actually the debut too
This is probably one of their best live performances ever!!!!
This was in February 89 I saw them in May 3 months later killer awesome show never forget it
LOVED THIS BAND SO MUCH...PLAYED THEM ON THE RADIO FOR YEARS...RIP MIDNIGHT
Badass band - R.I.P Midnight -
What a voice! Great band.
It would be amazing if a sound board recording of this was available.
This at times sounds like a VHS tape dragging, Or whatever you want to call it.
Still a great find for old fans, Enjoy.

Awesome Band and Awesome Vocalist, R.I.P. Midnight, I Love Crimson Glory
I lived on the edge of Bradenton on Palma Sola bay, but 30 years too late to see this show. They sound great here. Blessings to all.
Midnight was a monster...... such underrated voice !!!!!!!!!!!!
Glory days of an awesome band.
midnight sounds just amazing.
Can not believe it...after all these years i found this holly grail of best metal band ever!Thank you for sharing this!!!Realy metal thanks!!!
Sad they have only 2 albums
someone needs a kick in the sack for hiding this treasure all these years.
Bill Wren NO fuckin doubt!
+Bill Wren I was thinking the same thing!!
Download it. I'm telling you youtubes copyright system is going crazy and deleting/copyright claiming all kinds of live recorded videos
Waited for 30 years to see CG show! Thanks! Absolutely great!!!!
Metal will live on forever with Crimson Glory
I have heard some people say that Midnight sucks live but he sounds great here
Apparently tuning was optional. Lol
Midnight = Total badass! RIP
Saw them on this tour at the old 930 Club in DC. Hung out with them before the show on the bus. All great guys.
hahaha I thought I was the only one to realize it, definitely out of tune the guy with the clean guitar, the first time I've seen a band do it live.Too bad, it was a great band.
amazing and underrating band...
IMMORTAL!!!!!
My God what a fucking masterpiece ! Unbelievable vocals live no less..
Can't believe I've only just 'found' this on the Tube??!!?? This would have been around the year that I saw them play in Liverpool, England at the Krazyhouse; capacity of around 300. What must the band have thought? Coming from arena's to clubs? I still can't believe I got to see Crimson Glory in a club, close at hand!!
Mindcrime saw them in Leeds on same tour.
Can I get a copy of the Liverpool concert ?(which you filmed on you hi quality videocamera...) :)
Fucking hell no way they played in the Crazy house. I literally 5 minutes away from them ways. Love Crimson Glory such a sick band.
From memory, and it's a long time ago, I think there was maybe 100 people in there. It was a really small crowd. And the band were just going through the motions.....but who cares, they played a small, beaten up club in Liverpool!!! And I have one of Dana's drum stick, too.
why do the best times in life have to pass . . .
@ Rob Wade - this is the original singer "Midnight" not Todd LaTorre. Geoff Tate was a phenomenal singer in his time but even right before he died Midnight blew Geoff out of the water in sheer technique and expression in this genre of operatic singing. I loved both but Midnight clearly had his shit together vocally every show.
Geoff Tate Destroyed his own voice with 30-odd years of smoking
When did Midnight ever do anything below F5 that was even to close to Geoff Tate in his prime? And I can't think of a single vocal performance of his that is anywhere near as difficult to pull off as let's say Roads to Madness, Take Hold of the Flame or Queen of the Reich or Suite Sister Mary.
He had really, really good upper 5th octave notes, but while his mid range is very expressive it's hardly something to write home about in terms of technique and power. And his upper 4th and lower 5th octave notes that he does not heavily distort often also lack power and have a nasal and whiny timbre to them, especially live. He also doesn't have any lows to speak of.
If I misinterpreted you comment and you were only referring to late 2000s Tate vs late 2000s Midnight then that's obviously a different story. Although Midnights 2000s live vocals especially on the reunion tour weren't exactly good either.
Pretty much every thing Midnight does is more vocally passionate. Comparisons are a waste of time, I'm a big fan of both don't get me wrong, it's all personal choice.
Killer concert! Crimson rules!
same thoughts on midnight when to school w/ him and others in the band, what an awsome world they created....
damn i miss the era rockin crown lounge and sink or swim
perfection
I hate the fact that I lived 45 minutes away and I never got to see/hear this band live! Thanks for sharing! I didn't even know about Crimson Glory until about 93.
Awesome!! Music & Singer!! Classic 🤘
can somebody remaster this please???? we need the full quality of this masterpiece of art!
HAIL to the QUEEN ov the Masquerade!
I was reminiscing my metal days and remembered Crimson Glory. I CZcams'd Azrael and found this delight. Thank you for sharing. Yes R.I.P Midnight.
EXCUSE MY LANGUAGE BUT HOLY SHIT!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!
ONE OF METAL'S FINEST ALBUMS EVER....!
Midnight espectacular voice the BEST singer of heavy metal of the world for me RIP 😢😢
"Your kind of a homely crowd, but you're loud!" Fucking classic! LOL!
Sort of shocking how tight these guys were. And the vocals are essentially flawless. Imagine trying to pull that shit off that tightly. Drums are weak sounding at times, but that could be a facet of the warped vhs recording.
An amazing band with an AMAZING singer. Sadly, Midnight's demons destroyed what could have been a legendary career. I hope he has found the peace in death he couldn't seem to find in life.
gunslinger072 He didn’t drink himself to death, he had a stomach aneurism and wouldn’t go to the doctor. When he finally went the the ER it was too late. So much blood, they couldn’t figure out where it was coming from and body had already started shutting down. RIP JPM
Simply Amazing!
omfg... I was at this show!
Me too, Manatee Civic Center baby!!!
Lucky guy......
legendary!
amazing, great to see midnight in great form...
Such an amazing band. They deserved much better.
I never heard this band or even know they existed until 2016. Their music sounds so dam phenomenal! The singer has crazy range and it is pure vocal power and not all the bullshit you hear today from so called, "Artists." It just seemed all the members of the band just worked with each other and so well together, like they all understood one another and complimented each other while playing. You don't ever find that very often and it is something to behold when you do see and hear it.
Midnight is the greatest male vocalist ever.
He sure is,for all eternity.
Nah, he's never well pitched. Halford, Dio, or Geoff Tate are way better IMO. Still a great vocalist
Very close, I’d say. One of my all-time faves!! Incredibly talented guy gone way too soon.
This was a great concert I was 18yrs old.I moved to Sarasota in 1987.I lived on Siesta Key.
I was seated in front of midnight in history class he did good artwork, really good guy
Midnight: The best ... foreveeeer!!!! RIP
Was at this show...Great memory. I wish Jon would get some kind of deal to release this in high quality!
First, it would have to exist in high quality, which it obviously doesn’t.
thanks for this!!! is sublime ♥ long live Crimson Glory!
Thanx for this great gift man :))
You know it Dar !!!!! Death holds the key !!!!! Angel of mercy
the best band ever.the greatest album of all time!!!!!!!
Oh Yeah, i've been waiting so long for that Show! Thank you, man! I love it and...
Rest in Peace, Midnight!
Great Stuff this was real Metal
I love you Bobby! This consert is incredible !! A'm à drummer from Sweden. midnight must be in top shape here!
Truly Amazing!
Man, you are truly missed. Midnight voice, appropriate to take a bow.
amazing band and out of this world vocalist! so sad he left so early. i wish DIM gets released along with the covers he was working on. anyone have news on either?
You Are A LEGEND Bobby.
Metal Needs More People Like You.
Ok... I approve! This needs to be seen!
damn! i miss being a 21 years old metalhead!!!!
Midnight was literally untouchable in this era.
ΑΘΑΝΑΤΟΣ!!!!
Amazing setlist, one of my biggest heartaches - i will never see them live with Midnight ;( Such a grand band!
Brilliant band I'm going to enjoy this
11:41 Explodes your fucking mind how ease he reaches the high notes !!!!!
If this is not the most surreal and most largest coolest live concert ever, somebody show me what is.
crimson always a kick ass band , cool look midnight rules !
Excelente voz la de Midnight
realmente maravilhoso, jóia rara do Heavy Metal, banda das antigas extremamente perfeita, showzaço.
Masterclass!
Nothing........ compares..........Midnight shall always be ruler
wish there were more vids and better quality, they should've been huge, had they came out a few years earlier I think they would have, love the look, very different from every other band at the time. R.I.P Midnight!
Happy Birthday Midnight. Red Sharks!!!!
I saw them twice and met this line up for autographs, and they were fucking incredible, it's a real shame Mid left the band and fell on hard times, his return to the band was short lived and his solo work was pretty good, but the demons took hold. RIP Mid.
Saw them on december of that year. They didn't play Lost Reflection. They did do Lady of Winter and Burning Bridges. Otherwise, the setlist was the same.
Old, old video probably recorded on tape. Poor audio, but these guys are badass. Excellent musicians throughout the lineup, (I'm biased because I count a few of them as friends) these guys locked themselves in a warehouse for three years saying
"Nobody is hearing a note until we have it where we want it"
Talented men RIP Midnight
Glory-ous!
Music doesn’t get much better than this.
JPM did not drink himself to death. He had a stomach aneurism and would not go to the ER. When he finally went, it was already too late. His organs had already started shutting down and was bleeding so bad they couldn’t find where his stomach was bleeding from. Wish folks would quit saying he drank himself to death. RIP JPM
The bad lifestyle (like alcoholism in our case)can lead to problems like aneurysm
So the alcohol may was responsible
Crimson Glory - Crimson Glory and Transcendence, 2 of the best metal albums ever and I am not takling only for Midnight. The guitars, the music, the songwriting, all top!
