Great channel Hasard! Us older guys has passed our chance to become fighter pilots, still cool to live our fighter pilot dreams vicariously through your stories. I also augment that by flying RC planes from the cockpit using head-tracking FPV cameras. The F-35 helmet mounted displays are similar to flight info displays on our goggles - OSD - on screen display. I find canopy frame like the one on F-35 hampers formation flying and dog fight performance because it blocks views of lead/bogie at times. Do you find that comparing the frameless canopy F-16 vs the F-35?

Hey Hasard, I'm curious about something. I flew the F-15c with the 43rd tfs out at Elmendorf, oh so long ago...far before augmented reality.
When you're in the mode that lets you look "through" the jet, doesn't that lead to spatial disorientation/LOC scenarios? I'm thinking at least partially of the F-104 accident rate because pilots couldn't catch even a glimpse of the leading edges of their wings, except in rearview mirrors.
I'm assuming you can cycle through this mode quickly, which may alleviate the problem, and of course...practice. But I'm curious, as looking around and seeing only sky seems simultaneously disconcerting and cool as hell!
    Thanks brother

Also don’t undervalue the importance of an accurate watch. If you have an instrument failure then your watch could become a vital piece like what happened to Apollo 13.

I can’t imagine the F-35 has a built in water cup holder!
Also, if you fly to another base for training for a few days, where do you store your bag? Has to be in the bomb bay, right? Again, I can’t imagine that it comes with room for an overnight bag in the cockpit.
