Hi, the arrows indicate the direction of each knot. When your string moves from left to right, you use the forward knot. When your string moves from right to left, you use the backward knot. The down arrow means you need to take the light blue string to knot over the darker blue. I attached the link to generate a name pattern in the description, please get there
