Viewers please note: Ozempic® and Wegovy® are not interchangeable. While they contain the same active ingredient, semaglutide, Health Canada approvals are based on distinct phase 3 clinical trial programs in their intended patient populations.  Health Canada has provided separate - unique - indications for these two medications for different patient populations.
Health Canada approved Ozempic® in 2018 for treatment of type 2 diabetes. Health Canada approved Wegovy® in 2021, for treatment of chronic weight management.

Please note at moment 09:32 I say "GLP-1 Antagonists" - this is not correct, as I should have said GLP-1 Agonists, which is the class of medications we are discussing in this video. My apologies!

Good grief! If I were experiencing nausea/vomiting/stomach pain every day associated with taking ANY drug, I'd be losing weight like crazy, too. And as you point out, as soon as people STOP taking Ozempic, weight gain largely returns. The accompanying disclaimer to include reduced-calorie diet and exercise along with Ozempic is advice that could be followed before a prescription (but likely isn't - hence the attraction of a pharmaceutical intervention).
Thanks Lindsay for helping us learn more about this "miracle" drug. . .

I have experience fatigue, dizziness, and runny nose on Wegovy. It has helped me lost 60 pounds. I was always hungry before starting the medication.

I started taking Ozempic a few months ago for diabetes type 2. I had nausea the first few weeks but it went away. My blood sugar is well controlled and I lost 12 lbs. Not too bad. It certainly beats insulin injections. Thanks for the video.

I'd love a drug that makes me less hungry, but I worry about the side effect of a loss of appetite. /s

The bigger question is, can you afford the drug in the first [;ace!

Just give someone the money and forget the drug, you won't have enough money left over for food.
      Great solution.

It’s true. The cost is prohibitive but some drug plans do cover it.

Drug plans mask the cost, they don't eliminate it.
There should be healthy food plans.

@@mballer Completely agree. There isn't enough emphasis on lifestyle measures and support for that. There actually are a couple of programs in BC for patients that are covered by the government that include weight loss and lifestyle measure support. I am hoping to speak to one of the founders on the channel soon.

The plan I would suggest is walk 5km and get a free dinner in return.
Great incentive and vastly cheaper than the drug.
