I didn't like the arrogant vibe some of the pros had talking about him, had a "hes not one of the cool kids like us" tone to it, fuck that hes as gnarly as anyone to step on a board to get back up and keep going after all those slams hes taken.
Skaters are a different breed man. People become paralyzed, or even lose their lives, from just walking and tripping off a curb the wrong way. You gotta be insane to do what these guys do. And I mean that in the best way possible 💪
I've never skated vert, but it's hard for me to understand how he even got that far from the transition. It's not common to see people fall straight to flat bottom.
Another that always stuck out in my head, it was in one the the THPS bails videos but a dude ollies off like a 13’ half pipe and sacked on a guard rail haha
Although not as high impact as the unfortunate winners, Rowley's slam at the start of Sorry is always memorable. As is his line "just a feeble amount of blood"!
There was one of those arena contests maybe in Europe like 20-25 years ago where a dude tried ollieing from the deck of a huge vert ramp and gap over a metal barrier and the dude sacked the barrier. I thought he died. 😂 maybe it was featured in Adio one step beyond, but I don’t remember. Very nice video Chase!
Saw that one go down live! We were like: how is that even possible!?! Jump down from the deck of vert ramp and sack on a metal barrier not even touching the ground with your feet!?!
Maybe not the biggest, but the one where Jaws trips off the shipping container and falls straight onto his head is one of the scariest things I've ever seen
That's immediately what I thought as the worst slam lol Maybe because it's just so clear. You see him slam into the ground and he legitimately looks dead.
When I first saw the title of this video, two clips came into my mind. The first one most people probably wouldn’t even consider it a slam, but it was the first skate video I ever saw as a child and it was one of the first gnarly injuries I’ve ever seen a professional skateboarder have. It’s Justin Eldridge in yeah, right when he tries to grind the bench and fucks up his finger and then grabs it and yells as he pulls it back into place. The other one is bam’s nolllie lip slide to face plant on a handrail. I don’t need to give any more information than that. It’s so famous you already know the clip I’m talking about.
I've basically never watched X Games and just randomly stuck it on 1 time, only for the Jake Brown slam to happen. Still remember it. Had no idea it was so rare.
I had the show Scarred reach out to me for my old slam video, it was one of the biggest on CZcams at the time, they didn’t want anything because nobody broke anything, same thing Matt said.
Ali boulala when his heel clipped the rail when he ollied from the second story of that building and just face planted or Jamie Thomas when he locked up on the smith grind on the car at a toy machine demo and plowed the asphalt with his face. Gnarly
I was there at X-Games for Jake Brown’ slam, like 10 rows back. I was like 10 years old and still have the memory burned into my brain. My dad to this day said he thought we both watched him die right there. The place went nuts when we walked off under his own power. For me that is without a doubt the gnarliest slam.
Jake Browns slam's absolutely Hollywood, but for me personally,Ali Boulala's gives me full on,cold sweat nightmares. When his feet get all caught up,dude, that shit is horrific.....
There was this one slam in the 411 911 vid where this dude was doing something off a very tall thing and just landed about 11 feet on his head, if you know you know.
I remember watching X Games live when Jake took that slam and thinking he might be dead and even if not he is probably paralyzed. When he got up and walked I was like how in the fuck is that even possible? I remember thinking the medics letting him even move was a mistake let alone walk. Fucking insane slam
I remember seeing one on MTV's Scarred back in the early 2000s that literally scarred me, or in other words made me scared to try flip tricks. A guy was looking down at his board when he landed but his front foot was only partially on the board, which caused his front foot to slip off and his back foot popped the tail causing his board to fling up with a ton of force. I think his board's nose was pretty sharp and he was looking right at it when it flung up and it hit him in the face. I seem to remember it split his face and part of his face was like, hanging off. I'm too scared to look it up to see if it's as bad as I remember, but I'll never forget it.
Nyjah had some fuckin gnarly slams too! Like the one in till death that they didn’t even show. Or the 20 stair crooked grind fall at like an indoor airport or mall whatever. And his la jolla 18 back smith slam damn… or the nollie crook sack in the intro of rise and shine. Dude had a lot of gnarly slams! The hollywood high 16 switch front feeble too 😮😮😮
I remember watching that X games and thinking hes dead! But that jamie leap of faith is engrained in my brain from my childhood. We watched that shit on repeat for DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS.
Me too I thought he might be dead if not probably paralyzed. When he got up and walked I was like ok did I miss something did he not fall from like 40 feet to flat and his shoes fly off like 15 feet in the air? How do you walk away from that? Seriously like at the very least something is broke or you are just to fucked to walk how? Skateboarders are built different. Slam your head hard as fuck on concrete and get mad because you didn't land the truck. Then get up and do it next try and feel fine because you are so hyped. I always tell people don't fight dudes who skate ride bikes or dirt bikes. Especially dirt bikes those dudes take the fucking craziest slams like it is fun. Every slam they take is like a minimum 3 broken bones and like it only gets kinda serious if it is a compound fracture or a spinal injury. Otherwise it is like aw shit broke my collar bone wrist and femur again guess I can't ride for a few months. Smh kinda crazy to think what people will do for a trick
@@df3kt have a spot in my skull you can lay a thumb in from a “my skull vs a 60ft rock face” famil calls it a 4wheeler wreck in 2012…..next weekend i was back out digging up the same hill. If you gonna be dumb you gotta be tough.
More like this please! No arguing with the conclusions Brown and Schlager are uncontested winners. However, Boulala on the Lyon 25 should have been part of the discussion, especially since you talked about both another of Boulalas slams and Aartos slam, also off of Sorry. Before Brown or Schlager, the Lyon 25 was for sure the piece of skateboarding footage that was the most famous outside the skateboard community. Show the clip to a random group of people in a bar around 2005, and at least a couple would be like "Yeah dude I saw that clip! Crazy!" If I may, I would also like to nominate Gonz on the carwash. Like spreading cold butter on burned toast...
Danny Way slams don't count tho because he doesn't feel or even have the concept of pain so what does it even matter if he slams hard? Not like it fazes him or he is scared of getting hurt
That one clip of the dude credit carding himself at carlsbad will forever live on in every man who saw that clip.
True! Great callout
FACTS
First one I thought of when I saw the title
Joel Uzelac's inward heel attempt?
u should find the story behind that one , ive been wondering for years now if his shit is good @@storied_skateboarding

I'm so glad Schlager was in this. Legend!

gnarly as fuck
“He might as well just run and jump off the thing” “Can this guy even do this in dry weather”😂😂😂
Haha. Matt Schlager is a legend
I still yell out “I got the coffees” to my wife all the time.
Hahaha
That was Garrett Hill lol. Such a shredder!

they do have detrimental lifelong injuries, but they are the Men.
and it's okay.
I met Matt Schlage’s multiple times as a kid. He cheered me on when I learned to front 180 the big drop at the part
🙏🙏
The one with the coffees has always been my favorite 🤣
🙌
Great video! Great editing, really lame that it’s getting age restricted 😢
Thank you! VERY lame
Not that lame - it's got some pretty brutal slams in it.
The kid that ripped his gooch will always be up there
Lol
That kid who snapped his board on a big set and it hit him in the nuts, started bleeding.

That was a classic
uhhh yeah everybody just chilling in the stairs until he stars screaming
i’m bleeding out my fucking balls dude!
Gonz face plant at the car wash always stood out to me.
I feel like Rowley is the only one talking about pushing boundaries on slams. Motivational.
Hahah
These were so rough! I'm glad everyone's still alive 😅
I feel like Tony's "loop incident" when he broke his pelvis is worth a mention!
Insane
Yeah, Tony's loop slam was bad. Wasn't he in an ape costume?
@@danklebesiii2257 Yeah, it was for an episode of "Wild Boyz" if I remember correctly.

We are flagged again! How did we do? Did we get it right?!
Jake takes it for sure.
They called him sonic 🤣

LOVE how this turned out! 💕 Great job to everyone featured in this video! 🙌🏽 Fingers crossed it stays up🤞🏼

Jake Brown Mega Ramp or that dude who ate it on the loop right before Bob Burnquist did it switch stance.
