- Shyama Charan Lahiri (30 September 1828 - 26 September 1895), best known as Lahiri Mahasaya, was an Indian yogi and guru who founded the Kriya Yoga school. He was a disciple of Mahavatar Babaji. According to the book America's Alternative Religions by Timothy Miller, Lahiri Mahasaya's life was described in Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi as a demonstration of the spiritual attainment that could be achieved by a householder "living fully in the world."

I really enjoyed this reading and it had a certain familiarity to me. This spurred me to do a little research into Lahiri Mahasaya and learned that he was a believer in the unification of spiritual paths, and the welcoming of all sincere people to spiritual teaching regardless of their social "rank" or level of "merit." I have always felt attracted to this idea and I was drawn early in life to the Self Realization Fellowship center in Los Angeles founded by Paramahansa Yogananda. In my high school years I used to go there after school regularly and play my flute in the afternoons when it wasn't crowded. My mother's second marriage was held there. I felt a lot of peace and calm at the SRF center and meditated around the lake. I never had a view of myself that I was on some sort of an official spiritual path but I just liked it there. Now I see that Yogananda is in a student-teacher lineage with Mahasaya. That makes sense to me and I am not surprised. This also explains, at least to me, why I ended up here at your Wisdom of the Masters site for my further steps on the spiritual path. Obviously a central characteristic of this site is that all spiritual paths are welcomed, respected, connected, and to a large extent, unified. So again, I'm not surprised that I find myself coming here, at 70 years old, just about every day.

Thank you! 🙏 One of the first gurus in my lineage. Check out his disciple Swami Sri Yukteswar and his book the Holy science. Sri Yukteswar was the teacher of Paramahansa Yogananda. Also check out David McGrath, (a contemporary teacher) and his book 14 Essays on Kriya Yoga Philosophy & Principles. I think that book would suit your channel very well. David is a direct disciple of Yogananda’s student Roy Eugene Davis.

Balance, Diet, water , No beer , fresh fruit veg ect. Sit straight and connect with your spine helps, Sometime a soft focas on one area like on the bed helps . If Early morning you need to put cold water on your face to be alert. good luck. Aum.
