  • This is a continuation of my review of the Arvika 5 Star. I don’t spend much time splitting with it before quickly swapping it out for one of my favorites-the GB cruiser axe, which is the star of this show. I also quickly catch you guys up on what’s been going on in my life and why it’s been a little longer since I’ve uploaded last. Hope you enjoy.

      This axe definitely has a lot of character. I designed the house. I wanted a very simple craftsman style with an open-concept interior. I’ll take you guys through it sometime.

    I've always preferred the double bit over the single. Handles so much better with better results.

      It’s actually original believe it or not. I almost tossed it when I bought the axe. It was disgusting, all dry rotted and moldy, plastic stitching. But I decided to restore it instead. Might even be a really old video of me doing so on the channel.

      One of the few things I didn’t do myself on this house. Friends of ours laid the brick. We loved the brick color too. Actually asked a random couple what quarry they got their bricks from and then sought it out lol.

    I agree. That arvika just seems to get bogged down once the bit goes the wood with those flat cheeks. By the time it's sunk in the head speed just halts. The convexity of the little cruiser makes all the difference. If you're open to suggestions for a comparison, I'd say compare the arvika with the connie you have when it comes to splitting and chopping.

    • @KevinsDisobedience
      @KevinsDisobedience  Před 3 lety

      The Connie v Arvika would be a good comparison. They’re very similar, of course the Arvika is heavier by one pound. I’d like to throw my 4lb Dayton in at the end just to show how much better it chops. Will do at some point. Thanks.

    • @skaagkaal2613
      @skaagkaal2613 Před 3 lety +1

      @@kurts64 By comparison I already think that the connie pattern will pop and throw chips better than the arvika when it comes down to chopping. For all I know they could end up being the same in performance.

    • @KevinsDisobedience
      @KevinsDisobedience  Před 3 lety

      The Connie was pretty bad by comparison, but it does have a stubbier bit which means it doesn’t have to penetrate the wood so far before it starts to break the chips.

  • @joemiller68

    Does a cruiser have different edge angles on each side like a full size double bit? The full sized ones have, by prescription, one side with 32 degree included angles and one with 25. The blunt side is for grubbing around areas like tree roots.

    • @KevinsDisobedience
      @KevinsDisobedience  Před rokem

      One side is slightly thicker on mine. But 32 will do nothing but bounce. And 25 would be a decent splitter. Needs to be sub twenty to chop well.

    • @KevinsDisobedience
      @KevinsDisobedience  Před 2 lety +1

      Can’t go wrong with the 28” Fiskars. It’s bomb proof. But if you want a vintiage head, just look for a 4lb Dayton with a thick profile. It’ll split!

    Hey I make axes and knives, not forged yet but everything else do you have any advice for starting up my content ?

    • @KevinsDisobedience
      @KevinsDisobedience  Před 3 lety +1

      I’m probably not the right guy to ask if you want to grow fast. I’ve been on YT for a year now and still haven’t hit 1k. Subs are hard to come by. My best advice is make the best video you can with the equipment you have at the moment and upload it. Just start. Then try and upload at least once a week. I don’t have other socials, but if you do let them know about it. Then work on improving the quality if the vid, sound first, vid second (which is done more with lighting than camera). Also, move the camera to capture many angles. Don’t just set it up and talk. Do your best to relax on camera and be yourself. Don’t play a caricature of yourself, unless you’re going for a comedy channel. I just try to make videos I want to watch. Hope that helps. Let us know when you start.
