There should be a miss-fit calculation first to check that the pull up the flange together will not introduce cold stress on the pipe especially when it is adjacent of strain sensitive equipment. Piping code, i.e, ASME B31.3 also provide limitation ofmiss alignment, also in ASME PCC-1.
As long as the miss alignment is within the tolerance, i would use this tools.
A hammer and a spud wrench are cheaper, faster and just as effective.
Time is money, spud is so much quicker.

If two flanges meet about 15-20 mm out of center a new pipe fitting contractor should be found. To me a misalignment of that magnitude is unacceptable. By using this method of alignment, the flange faces will be out of parallel which can have devastating consequences for the sealing of the gasket. Furthermore, a non-negligible shear stress on the bolts could mean a blown bolt.

We used line up bars or for big pipe a choker and rachet or chain fall

That's the first of many thoughts I had about this. If we fuck up a measurement we cut it apart and do it again. None of this half ass stuff.

Nothing to do with pipe fitters. It’s to do with misalignment, alignment pins are the best.
What about the uneven tilt this creates? You can clearly see at 2:56 the gap at the top is larger than the gap at the bottom.

Is this correct way, during inspection the owner may ask you to remove the bolt to check whether external load acting in bolt ? and pipe are in align..
I know old comment but in the 8 plus years I've been doing this type of work not once did they make us do that. It could happen to some places but never at the plants i was in.
Why not use barrel drifts?
now you're just putting a load on the bolts to handle that misalignment. When someone eventually has to do maintenance on that flange its going to spring back

Im pipe fitter and they said very good!I dont know who invented this crap.When you are good with pipeing and calculation this things will not happend to you.Even when happen there is 100more simplier solutions.
Me To be fair to these wildly stupid inventions. Over time settling and vibration cause misalignment so putting pipe back in service needs alignment tools. But I would never waste company money on this garbage.
If you go those big misaligned flanges you got bigger problems won't be able to pass that from the foreman.

Смотрится круто. Круто как для рекламы. Но очень далеко от реалий жизни. Идеальные ровные участки труб) Одна только изоляция какие приносит не удобства. Вообще весь процесс монтажа у нас труб. От А до Я. Сравним с карикатуркой про три обезьяны.
Это помещение очень далеко от реальности. Слишком много места, фланец как на витрине, трубопрод не промаркирован, отсутствует стрелка направления движения среды, отсутствует цветная маркировка среды, фланец почему-то смещен только в одной плоскости, освещённость рабочего места идеальная. И последнее, ремонтник не может быть в такой чистой робе. Этот просто какая-то операционная и хирург, только маску осталось одеть.
Это же что-то вроде рекламы. Наверное поэтому!)

Put a come along on there that's how you do it when you can't build it to just drop bolts in.

how do u put gasket on the flanges if the gap is too tight? obviously this tool need some improvement in order to complete the jobs..should have another pusher to make the gap between the flanges opened to allow you put the gasket on it..
Banana wedges and the gasket will drop right in

Blame the fabricator or the engineer. Cut the flange off and weld on the proper flange.
Cut it apart, 2 hole it, and do it right....

If the pipe is misaligned that much I’d take a look at fabrication before forcing it into place, the stresses that could be applied during process may be a problem if forced the 3 inches into position, I wouldn’t accept it during the inspection line walk.... or use of these tools to hide bad fitting/ fabrication... just sayin
