Komoney has made it abundantly clear, that they have doubled down on milking the existing playerbase as hard as they can, while completely disregarding the health of the game in general, its longevity and potential new players, which won't be attracted by this broken game. They will never stop, as long as enough suckers keep on throwing their money at them.
So on point , milking the burnout hard fan base , instead of fixing the game that s just evil
Happy to say I’m no longer one of the suckers, I quit playing irl when poplar came out and won’t be back until they make their game better, kononey hasnt seen a dime from me in a while
Konami? Who's Konami? Oh, you meant KoMoney.
Kon-mani
As someone that has really bad depression this just upsets me.
Yugioh was one of my escapes. A way to leave my house and meet my friends and have some fun. Now with this just completely killing most rogue strategies, what’s the point? Not all of us can just drop $1000 on new cards to play, especially when it costs $40-$50 to fill my damn car up.
Play at locals. Why do you need 1000$ deck? You make zero sense sad boy
@@roberthaynes3245 Because locals is also gonna be full of tryhards
@@roberthaynes3245 Because sometimes even locals are filled with meta decks. It's not all of them, but some are. And going in a tournament with your rogue deck while your opponent is playing Snake Eye is not that fair
@@roberthaynes3245my locals scene is 1-3 hours away depending. I’m sure it’s like that with most people. Even RogueHero said that in Chicago (a big city) the locals scene is pretty much dead.
At the same time, why go when you’re going to lose over and over again by decks that don’t let you do anything
@@roberthaynes3245because most ppl play competitive decks there. A bunch of pussies with their meta decks
My biggest concern regarding raritys is that Konami never hesitates to nuke cheap decks on the banlist. I REALLY want to build Gimmick Puppets but being low rarity I am afraid puppets will get the superheavy sam treatment.
If you dont build it as an ftk u can be safe
It's funny you people say Ultra's are low rarity.
I mean there’s a ton more rarities above ultra vs under it so it’s definitely on the lower end of the scale
Nobody said Ultra is low rarity, Ultra is lower than Secret which is objectively true.
UR is a lower rarity than SCR? 😂🤡
@@ShinGodzilla1011 That's malicious framing.
You have:
1. Common --> If you want to be specific; Normal common, short print common and super short print common.
2. Rare.
3. Super Rare.
4. Holofoil Rare.
5. Ultra Rare --> Again, if you want to be specific, you have both Ultra Rares and Ultra Rare (pharaoh's rare) and Ultimate Rare).
6. Secret Rare (promo rares).
7. Quarter Century Secret Rare.
8. Ultra Secret Rare.
9. Secret Ultra Rare.
10. Prismatic Secret Rare.
11. Parallel Rare. (with even more different parallel variants like Parallel common to Millennium rare).
12. Starfoil Rare.
13. Starlight rare.
14. Ghost Rare.
15. Gold Ultra Rare.
So unless you find the difference of 4 vs. 10 (6 difference), a lot. But I will tell you why you would be incorrect. A lot of those rarities above Ultra Rare, can't be found in most products. The Ghost Rares are pretty much retired or only found in specific ghost of the past products. Gold Rares, the prismatic rares, the parallel rares etc. are set specific. So while that makes them rare, it doesn't make them rare in the products themselves, but mostly due to them being set specific. So in the context of this conversation, about the booster box and cards we are talking about, those types of rarities will not even appear in the set.
The odds of pulling a ultra rare card is 1 in 12. That is not the odds of a low rarity.
In your classic booster box like the one we talk about now, these are the odds (about):
Common - 8:1
Rare - 1:1
Super Rare - 1:6
Ultra Rare - 1:12
Secret Rare - 1:24
Ultimate Rare - 1:48
Ghost Rare - 1:216
1 UR out of 12 is not a low rarity pull. And that makes even less sense with how many different types of Ultra Rares there are, so you have to compete with those odds as well. An example being how Promethean Princess (despite being an Ultra Rare) is listed at 22 dollars (and that price is lowered since the set got out).
Again, Ultra rare is not a low rarity.
@@blastchaos4286 No, the specific words he used where "And also Kashtira's. Fenrir, Unicorn, those were only ultra's. So Konami knows how to make good cards also low rarity".
6:50.
So, please don't lie with "Nobody said Ultra is low rarity,...", because he clearly did.
I understand making certain cards like big boss monsters Secrets. My issue is when they decide to make *generic staples*, that pretty much every deck will run three of just to keep up, all Secrets.
Getting wrecked by super strong cards is whatever to me if I know I have easy access to them myself, can't beat them then join them. Getting wrecked by my opponent using generic staples that go for £/$300 a playset feels I lost against a bigger wallet.
They've done this shit for years and is the reason I don't buy product anymore. Keeping up with news on the game is all I bother with nowadays.
you are absolutely correct
God I hate TCG Rarity decisions man, the game is so affordable in asia but here we get fucked up the ass so bad
And that's why I stopped play the game in real life
Yup 👍🏼 I just can’t keep affording to shell out 300-600$ a month in cards, I understand I can trade card away but I really don’t want to keep trading cards away, just to get the best cards for them to get hit 2 months later in a banlist to promote the next best set. It’s garbage practice.
Sameeee been actually enjoying life 100 times more since I quit the game everyone should honestly do the same
Ritual beasts is a rly strong deck for 160€
@@gdgdgd35 I just picked up all the ice barrier cards. I like a draw 4
Do you still play in your dreams?
Until all pro players and competitors boycott the events due to insanely priced tier 0 format metas: Konami will change nothing and you will simply need to accept this is the price of competitive play for tournaments. If you are a casual, play for fun, wait for reprints in rarity, play other archetypes etc...In your friend's circle you don't need to throw 1k moneys around to have fun. Least I hope you dont...
I m down for this boycott, plz let's gather
I'm 100% on the boycott side of things.
I have actively been not buying new product for nearly 2 years now since I got access to all the cards my old rogue deck needed. I just play with my mates and use free online sims. Got absolutely zero desire to shell out a couple hundred bucks to play a deck I've little interest in, just to do ok in some random regional. I'd rather save for my mortgage.
Konami has done exactly nothing to regain my interest in supporting this game. Feel bad for the local gameshops but it is what it is.
Cant wait until People realize how weak Mulcharmy actually is and how much they spend on it XD
Shhhh 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the max c from wish its meh but not so bad , max c and this are patches konami forces on us to "fix" the game
Konami doesn't care about its players outside of Japan. The "upgraded" rarities also affect people in Central and South America, its even more expensive for them than it is for North American players.
People cannot afford to buy the amount of product needed to acquire playets of these engines. People also aren't interested in playing in a terrible format, my Friday night locals is basically dead and I stopped going, they had 3 players last week.
It's why I'm going to start playing Pokemon and Lorcana after Nationals. Pokemon is very affordable and Lorcana prints every card in a given set as a foil. The prizing is significantly better with both those games.
I'll still play Yu-Gi-Oh!, but if the economy implodes the game may end up dying. If the global economy implodes it will impact all TCGs, but Pokemon in particular has such a low ceiling for entry (League Battle Deck product is amazing) that it will still do quite well. (Because the game is run well.)
Keep casual, play with friends onyl
@@diegoleite4074only cucks will remain plying this game even in casual format
I don't even blame Konami. I blame you all for buying these products time after time.
Seriously, how many times do you have to hit your head on the same door frame, untill you understand it's on you.
Tcg players never will
This is why I stick to my budget decks 😂
"Always the most expensive cards..." Let's be frank, if independent sellers didn't hike up prices like they were stocks, Konami wouldn't feel the need to limit the amount made. Any news is good news for big companies that have sheep.
@@Robpguitar21 supply and demand. They can charge whatever they want, but at the end of the day, no one forced you to give them your money
@MobiusMundUr I understand your reasoning, but never been a fan of the "is what it is" answers to these issues. Point still stands you can't blame Konami for how high the prices are, blame the consumers.
Wild how the community continues to support this practice from Konami
They have tried making the cards lower rarity so they are easy to get and those sets end up being the worst selling sets of all time.
@@izzyg8444they could just have made them an Ulti would have been enough I think
@izzyg8444 Well no shit, when you go from milking competitive players' wallets with scummy rarity bumping and short prints to actually using fair business practices, you will sell comparatively less lmao. Boohoo, the sales went down to a normal level, poor Konami.
"Vendors are going to be eating good this weekend"
And that's the reason behind those rarity spreads. Konami's only concern is if vendors will buy the product, players be damned. If they release a "cheap" set, vendors will not sell and lose money, which in some cases ends up with locals closing/quit bringing yugioh altogether, affecting the players the most in the end.
And so they keep printing all the good cards in the maximum rarity available because if players are going to be miserable anyway they may as well just go for the option that produces them the more money in the short term.
Um, it's to the point that I don't care. Actually, I've never really cared. If i can't afford the best deck, im not losing my mind or sleep over it. Konami has done this for the better part of 17 years and till this day you people will bitch yet still have the nerve to still buy product. Until the TCG playerbase as a whole decides to no longer buy product, it's not gonna change. Same for the other big 3 as well.
Overhyping Mulcharmy a little bit. It only draws from normal or specials from the hand (potentially powerful depending on what you’re playing against, or may net you hardly anything if you playa against something like Snake Eyes). Also, you can only activate it if you control no cards, and it will cap how many cards you start the next turn with, so it’s significantly weaker than Maxx C and way more situational, and I’d even say quite a bit more balanced. Could always be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that it’ll be a $20-$25 card at most 2 weeks after release, especially since NAWQ happens right around release of the set and it likely won’t be a part of most of the top decklists.
It's at worst a break even on turn 1, and thanks to droplets, having "no cards on board" isn't too difficult. Multi shotgunning means that you are usually getting at least 1 draw against any deck in the game, and it's at least 2 if you have/draw into any interruptions to force them to use multiple starters.
It is definitely going to be 60+ at absolute minimum.
@@vla1ne I’m curious to know what you think this card at 3 is going to do against either Snake Eyes, Tenpai, or Fiendsmith.
A card that you would need to run 3 of to give your best chance of seeing in your first 5 going second, and essentially becomes a brick after that yet doesn’t do as much damage to the top of the meta as Shifter is going to be a $60 card after the initial market intro period? That would require heavy representation in the WCFs - likely 50%+ of top cut. You think it’s going to see that much?
@@Bestbesti525 my longer explanation seems to have been deleted, but put simply; it will break even at the absolute worst, because all of the decks you mentioned start their plays from hand, and if you interrupt them, they tend to go into a normal/special summon from hand to continue. Assuming you have any interruptions alongside it, or even draw it off the poplar/diabellestar/sangen kaimen/ standard normal/Ect, you can still gain advantage.
I'm not sure what got my last comment deleted, but that's the shortest I can make it and have it still make sense.
Thank god I only play for fun not for competitive 😂😂🤣🤣
TBH : F*CK KONAMI.
EA has been doomed and gloomed as the worst gaming company for years now. But considering everything, I think Konami is just even worse. To make it even more brutal, it’s quite hard to determine who the people are at Konami that take those decisions. You can’t even call them out because they are in the shadows. I wanted to have a proper conversation with these guys for years now but it’s impossible to identify them.
Well, Kevin Tewart is for sure one of them.
I stopped investing in paper. MD ain’t perfect but it’s sure a lot more cost efficient
The moment you realize why Maxx C is banned then dropped the new Maxx C card in secret rare... Yeah... sounds like robbery in broad daylight to me.
The sad part is this is more the new phantazmay as opposed to the new maxx c, you can easily get away without it
Mulcharmy is a side deck tech that will only be good against some decks, the price will drop substantially
I am sick and tired of Komoney rarity bumping generic engines so they and up at 300-500€ per engine. 50€ Stun decks here I come
You know what... Mulcharmy is only a rare in Japan. This is ridiculous. I wouldn't mind if we shared the the same rarity as Japan, but I as a TCG player am feeling used and discriminated against. I say we all boycott the Infinite Forbidden to send a message to Konami to end this predatory practice of actively discriminating against non-Asian players. This is unfair by any standard.
This is why I enjoy playing goat and edison formats; not much to spend, untapped combinations in a nostalgic card pool, and less stress of remembering so much on field/in graveyard effects. In modern format, I play my numeron deck with board breakers. Cheap deck, easy access spells/traps.
Gimmick Puppet probably is going to be full of commons and supers, which is pretty good for people who want to play this deck while being very cheap
Great.... a budget ftk
@@Rain593 I'm down for it
When has this ever stopped the yugioh players from Spending money.
I'm still praying for a new Structure deck, I know it's tough work, but just one would be fine
I hate being a paranoid conspiracist but sometimes I can't help but think Konami just wants to kill the game
Do they not realize that by constantly printing these Tier 0 cards, they have effectively tuned every other piece of Cardboard in those boxes into worthless Packfiller for the playerbase? Do they not also understand that if the top decks all require Secrets which are by nature, shortprinted, less people are going to be able to compete, let alone *want* to compete?
Gotta make unplayable decks like Millennium cheap to “bring in new players” and make the competitive cards expensive.
“What are you gonna do not buy the cards” -Konami
Konami doesn't want the player base to bully them!
They can only bully us taking our lunch money!
At this point i'm only buying a box so i can use up all of my tournament winnings and sell any expensive cards I pull. It's clear as day that Konami sees the West as complete suckers.
Therein lies the problem, you called LEDE a mid set. You got the whole Tenpai deck, Nightmare Throne, and Lightsworn Dragonling as not secret rares, so they were affordable. But because there isn’t a $100+ card it’s a mid set. So it’s like players want the cards to be secret rares so its expensive, but then want to complain about it at the same time 😂
My hot take is I remember it kinda always being like this.
I played in dragon ruler format but still! Those guys were rare and you only got 2 per box
Personally, I hope we see a banlist right after NAT’s. I have a lot of crazy deck ideas with Fiendsmith. That coupled into the fact that snake-eye now loses most all of it’s chokepoints as a result of them revealing the Closed Moon link -2, I can’t think of any reason to play this upcoming format. The rogue player/deck builder in me definitely feels out of place once INFO comes out.
it really feels like they feel out the strong card in the OCG and the ones that are very important get turned into secret and since you can't use OCG cards in the TCG even though the card text is identical just adds up it's quite shameful
And this is why for the past year I've given up trying to play at highest level of competition in paper. I'll stick to Master Duel and DuelingBook if I want to play a top meta deck without having to bankrupt myself.
Yeah, it is the same as Always. Idk to me this isn't a surprise anymore.
You can Look at every major Set which changes how Yu-Gi-Oh is played. For example RATE & MACR : Zoodiacs Scr, Dragonic Diagram Scr, Ash blossom Scr
Flod: Imperm Scr, unicorn Scr
Rotd: Nadir, Talent, droplet Scr
Bode : swordsouls and dpe Scr.
You can bet they wont change this
This set is a reason why Konami should change sets in the future and handle it like in the OCG
The only good part about this shit is that in my locals, since everyone is pissed and tired about the meta, we have started playing alt formats such as HAT and Edison, its like night and day, highly recommended 😊
I just started playing at locals, but i might be dropping it with how expensive all these cards are getting i just can’t justify spending all this money for JUST a set of 3 cards.
You know what would be funny? If an OTS allowed their players to participate in tournaments using OCG versions of cards that have been released in the TCG just to spite the company.
They'd loose their OTS status over something like that. However, if no one reports it... Then...
People need to stop blaming Konami for prices it's scalpers that's fucking up the pricing for these cards
That Mucharmy is to Maxx C like Pot of Avarase is to Pot of Greed. It really isn't the good or impactful.
At the very least I can make fun of ppl chasing these overexpensive paperscraps, knowing that I myself havent hit rock bottom yet
Good that youtubers starts to pointing things out, but until we have sponsored influencers that always talk good about Konami in exchange for some boxes things wont change. Its just big gambling machine
I'm looking forward to the white woods archetype, and I'm really hoping it won't be stupidly expensive.
120$? Galzo, my dear guy, the market would've valued it at such a high, absurd price? It would only cost a measly 240$
Budget and accessible to all! And 75$ for a water down Maxx C? C'mon, that card will be economical for all at a pathetic 75 × 6 = 450$
(This is purely a joke. However, the Fiendsmith dude, I wouldn't be surprised if it did hit something of those numbers.)
imagine having to drop 500 bucks for like 10 cards on top of your snake eye core that was even more... I have always been a big TCG advocate but I think I have to skip this format if no banlist comes out and try the new ranked master duel.
the only way I can see konami save this is a preemptive hit to beatrice to make fiendsmith not a starter in most decks. Maybe that would drop the fiendsmit's cost to 30/35 but purullia will always be 100 just for the hype
it's because of the tcg rarity system, no planning nor timing is responsible, always been like this
As if those 2 weren't enough, KoMoney has just announced Moon of the Closed Heaven AND the new Tenpai Dragon as secret rares. Isn't that fun? 😃
That’s not true though
New Tenpai should be UR and Moon is Common or SR
Poor timing implies this wasn't done 100% intentionally
Damn man. Gotta love konami trying SO hard to get money simply by rarity. Mulcharmy is almost mandatory for competetive play and if you want a playset, you better pay up.
I mean, personally you can live without Mulcharmy FOR NOW,but at the same time Fiendsmith will be an absolute meta threat and will be used everywhere. And the main card is a secret...
imagine the surplus of cards and the price tanks. Soooo much product available atm, I really don't think it will be all that crazy. Maybe at nawcq bc nerds are gonna want it day 1 but after that weekend its whatever
Well you can’t blame them they wanna participate and win…
ultra and secrete only is just how konami make the good decks and staples impossible to most players to play without pay 300€/bucks per playset ist's a shame,
with the Rarity collections Konami saw printing more rarities both for budget AND competitif players that pay 60+ per cards but they keep treat TCG players like shit
Wait, tcg multchummy is expensive?
Here in OCG the card is “trash” since maxx c is good and when maxx exist, a card that only effect to drawing from hand summon is mediocre at best due to most meta deck doesn’t summon from hand that much.
maxx c is banned for us
Multcharmy is more a Side Deck card at least, unlike Maxx C
I agree, i really don't think it will be that popular. I would rather run droll tbf
@@KariiVG I don't even run Droll anymore, most decks that you would want to hurt don't care about it enough.
@@invertfriend I still feel droll is going to be more powerful in the side then this card. If you're tunning ash, veiler, imperm and one of the ghosts in the main theres not much room for this card
@@KariiVG Droll is more powerful yeah, I'm just saying, I don't even play either. I can't even really think of a great deck I would want to play Multchummy in, maybe some deck that lacks consistency and suffers going 2nd, but that's about it.
"Producing expensive cards..." That aint Konami doing that, it's mofos who get rich off other players. Enjoy spending money on cards that will be useless in 6 months to a year.
Great.. more expensive engines that don't fix the game to be more fun or balanced.
At least the last two sets they gave us price breaks on needed cards.
Makes buying boxes worth it these expensive cards, spend 80 bucks and pull one of these chase secrets on top of ultras and other holos and possible qcr it makes sealed so much more worth it
Quit the game and not coming back while you NEED $400 in cards JUST to play and maybe win sometimes
Good haircut. Very flattering look.
Glad you like it! Haha, appreciate it.
I hope the link 2 and the fusion will be secret rare too
Man they did save alot of players money on RA01 and RA02 so we owe them one tbh lol 😅
OCG gets all staples in low rare i dont understand...
i got myself a case JUST incase these damn cards were secret and what do you know they were
i really want mulcharmy for my tear deck too :/
Well, there’s a reason why Ive dropped out the competitive side of Yugioh a long time ago. Why bother playing when you need to take out a MORTGAGE to have a usable deck?
Branded doesn't have SS from hand 😉
🤞finger crossed there won’t be a ban list I’m going to the N.A. wcq I don’t want the deck Iv been practicing for months to get hit
These cards are gonna sky rocket so hard I hope I pull one in my box so I can sell it to fund a new deck 😂
It’s time to take a break from Yugioh after Nats. Lorcana is looking good rn
I'll maindeck shifter for the rest of this format
I sold all mu cards like 2 weeks ago. Got a little over 600 usa, invest half on pokemon and I already make my $ back. I 100% prefer pokemon over yugioh.
Do not buy into this abusive practices, not in product nor in the secondary market. Vote with your wallet, you're not Konami's little pay pigs.
Princess is still a $30 card
Yeah. I play the tcg not to have to face max c. I might take a break from the game dealing with that
See, this is only the kind of shit that Americans have to deal with. The Asian-English side of the game does not have to deal with this bullshit at all.
Oh I sold my yubel deck after seeing this shit
Yeah I'm going to lorcana
I play Pokemon now! Good luck
Me, an intellectual, sticking to ygopro
People just need to stop buying. Wich is not gonna happen, because the diehards are so infranchised with the yugioh logo that they glad guzzle down whatever konami puts out.
Yugioh is the ONLY tcg that rarity bumps like this, let this sink in.
yep, back to ocg we go
Wow TCG Konami is just pure scum. A rarity "upgrade" from rare to secret is just ridiculous. It's pure greed.
Keep casual, play with friends
Sadly I don't really make friends in locals. I like those guys, we just don't hang around much because I'm a married man with a job.
I'd love to have a Friday night yugi group...
Am I the only one who thinks that Multchrurmy isn't busted. I wouldn't even call it very good. Ok at best
Even if it isn’t busted, wouldn’t you want this potentially important card to be more attainable?
@@galzo What I want doesn't matter because, I've known Konami for long enough to know that they won't suddenly have a change of heart (pun intended)

Thank you for reminding me why I refuse to play competitively. I hate the constant need for consistency and playing broken or unfair cards. It just stops being fun after a while, which is why I stick with casual duels (though I may try locals at the bare minimum).
This is how it's always been from inception of Yu-Gi-Oh. The good cards are supposed to be harder to get, otherwise what's the fun of secret rare hunting if all of them are bad?
That's why I play casual, no hand traps, no expensive cards, no 20 minutes combos and it's fun.
OCG wins everytime
Tcg youtubers *complains about konami*
Also tcg youtubers *buys every shit anyway*
Games no longer about playing the game, it's about money laundering with buying sets to sell the overpriced cards to the community that's so addicted to a garbage card game. 😂
I'm not gonna lie that's a genius idea, if I had a ton of illegal money I'd love to buy crates of yugioh cards and sell the good ones to get my money clean 😂
@@ProfessionalCZcamsWatcher literally watch it happen at my locals. Guys selling stolen goods/drugs come in buy cases, crack em and sell the high value stuff and bulk out the rest. Happens for every card game.
Mulcharmy should always have been secret.
I could argue that Engraber could have been ultra and the link 1 and moon could possibly go to secret.
The other way around. If Multcharmy is a game defining card, or at least an important staple, everyone should have access to it.
Well that's news to me that ultras are now low rarity and affordable. My eyes must have deceived me over the last year when all the playable ultras were expensive
Konamis greed is one of the reasons ygo can't expand to a new generation and is dying ....
People have to stop complaining. If they do not make money then they don’t support the game. I understand people don’t like it but all of this is necessary and it has been like this since the game started. It is planned this way.
There's a difference between making money and abusing the consumers to milk them dry for the sake of making more money than they were aleady doing.
Just look at all the shit live service videogames pull for a clear example of this garbage.
No. Its good cause it means i won´t see everyone splash fiendsmith in his decks for playing locals. Having the cards as common or super rar would be way more toxic for the game than having them in secret.
