    It was Hinata who trusted him 100% and the one who brought a whole new meaning to his title

    • @user-hn5xp5xk7x
      @user-hn5xp5xk7x Před 3 lety +91

      Yes. This is what moved me so much. Hinata pulled him out of being a “tyrant king” by interacting with with Kageyama after they became a team. As most people said, a person can be easily influence by another’s behavior and habits and ends up adapting them. This is what happened with a Kageyama and Hinata. As we can see, after moving into Karasuno and meeting all the other dorks, Kageyama has gotten softer; he can take jokes, has more speech and small talks with others and well, becoming more expressive comparing to him in Kitagawa Daichi. He just needs someone who can agree with his idea and understands his attitude since he is not the most expressive person you’d meet. Look at how Hinata defends him anc is nonchalant about his attitude because he knows that although Kageyama may sounds like an ass, he is completely reasonable. Now, he literally gave Kageyama a new meaning to stand by his title, one that he can be proud of and not hang his head down in shame whenever “king” is mentioned.
      Edit: AND ITS SO AMAZING HOW HINATA REMEMBERS WHAT KAGEYAMA SAID BACK IN SEASON ONE.

    Kageyama is a genius setter and he knows what's good for the team and what's wrong with their playing style. But the way he expresses it makes him come across as an insufferable jerk and combine that with their own egos. Also a player has specific weakness and strength and playing style of their own , and that needs to be incorporated into the game , and sometimes Kageyama himself can be wrong too. Finding a balance between Kags' own opinions and his teammates is the key , even though it's very difficult to achieve. Coach's guidance and communication is needed for that. Setting is the most difficult job in volleyball.
    Since Kageyama entered Karasuno , he became submissive and catered more towards the players' and cover up their weaknesses by setting accordingly than try to bring the absolute best out of them by experimentation and pushing them a bit , because he was afraid of losing them like what happened in middle school.
    This guy really is the most relatable character in the series for me.

    See, I like this because I swear to god, I always saw Kageyama's point. Sure, he didn't need to be an ass about it, but there's nothing wrong with letting your teammates know where to improve if you can see something they can't.
    Hell, it's often so hard for us to see our own flaws, I actually welcome that kind of critique. I sure as hell wouldn't have figured it out, idiot that I am.
    In the first episode we see him, Kunimi IS slacking off. Repeatedly he let's points through that no-one should.
    So this is kind of validating!

    • @Haz1Art
      @Haz1Art Před 3 lety +56

      But yea, it depends really. Idk if you play sports but their playstyle simply dont match. Kunimi does a lot of analyzing in a play, he does it risk-free, slow and steady, & exploit his opponents weakness when he see them. Hes an efficient player, complete opposite of kageyama's aggressive play. Yknow who else plays like Kunimi? Kenma. And on the 1st episode, Kageyama was being a HUGE ASS. Kunimi "slacking off" actually wasnt s big of a deal compared to Kageyama, who actually bring their own morals down. Thats his job, as a captain & setter. Kageyama's arc wasnt about him actually being right on the 1st episode, but actually knowing his teammate's playstyle & mindset, knowing when its best to give some push & when to let hitters control the ball, unlike on 1st ep where he thinks that hes above everyone else & tried to control literally every aspect of the game including the players physical limitations like a dicktator.

    • @MH3Raiser
      @MH3Raiser Před 3 lety +155

      @@Haz1Art True, but as Hinata points out here, just because Kageyama tells people to do something, it doesn't mean they have to listen to him. Hinata does this pretty well when Kageyama tells him to give up on the freak quick, he just says no. It's that simple.
      Sure, I get that Kageyama's attitude was aggressive and to be honest wasn't helping get his point across, but the issues he brought up WERE legitimate. Sure, I'd agree that Oikawa handled them way better, but he did still change how Kunimi played.
      Kunimi was someone who constantly slacked off because he wanted to save his energy for thinking, but it was Oikawa who helped turn that into his secret weapon, by working him EVEN HARDER when the game was on its last legs. The point remains that Kunimi did have to slack off less, but Oikawa had the better idea about how to implement that into his gameplan.
      Not going to spoil anything, but the ongoing match in S4 of Cats vs Monkeys is going to show you why even Kenma has to work hard sometimes and is willing to if it helps the team.
      Kageyama had been holding back for ages with Karasuno because he was scared shitless of them abandoning him the same way Kitagawa Daichi did. Sure, if they were playing casually that'd be a good thing, but they're trying to win nationals and Kageyama is LITERALLY the best player on their team and the on court attack strategist. His opinion matters.
      Heck, it was the coach asking Kageyama where he'd put Hinata that got him playing middle blocker, despite how anti-meta a short player in that position is.
      Tsukki could've been jumping higher. Nishinoya's rolling recieves could've been more streamlined. Tanaka could've gotten more balls. There's bound to be more areas for improvement that Kageyama saw and ignored because he didn't know how to express himself without being an ass.
      But at the end of the day, its not his job to censor himself, because as Asahi and Tanaka point out, different people take different kinds of criticism and advice totally differently;
      Its his job to bring up problems when they occur, and try and work together with the hitters to solve them. If he goes too far, that's fine because if his teammates know he's coming from a good place, they'll let him know and he can fine tune it.
      So all in all, I stand by what I said: Kageyama is just more knowledgeable about Volleyball than the others; his critiques aren't only important, they often make a lot of sense. His biggest hinderance was not being able to express those ideas well, but that's no excuse for not trying.

      I think Kageyama is on the same path. His personality looks a lot like Young Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and even Cristiano Ronaldo at the moment. However, due to his personality and social skills he became a tyrannic king that never accepted the opinion of others, atleast back in middle school. When joining Karasuno, he learned that he has people by his side that will follow him and create new paths together. So at this point, he did not return to his former tyrannic king persona, but he transformed into a king that will lead people

  • @chiiries
    @chiiries Před 3 lety +122

    Because the comments are getting on my nerves a bit. Let me explain you the whole situation. One, yes, the way Kageyama spoke isn't the best but he is aware of that as well. Two, the main reason why Atsumu called Kageyama ,a "Goody-Two-Shoes", is because Kageyama was not only making his tosses to match the spikes but to match their *mistakes* as well, which in the end makes them weaker because they won't improve. Which is the exact opposite of what anyone in Karasuno want. Kageyama is good and he knows it but he was so scared of his "tyrannical" days in middle school, that this combined with the advice that Oikawa gave him (which isn't bad but while it works for Oikawa and his team, it isn't for Kageyama) on the other hand, Atsumu is very confident/proud and as he said those who just can't hit his tosses suck. While both are extrems that Kageyama went through (Tyrant and a servant to his spiker) with the help of Hinata and the rest of the team he was able to find his style.
    The king.
    Noone in Karasuno is bad but they have habits that makes them weaker and Kageyama want to change that because he cares for them and knows that they *are* stronger than this. The fact that Tsukishima can hit higher even above the blockers, somithing that Suna commented as well in their match against Karasuno, shouldn't be a surprise but the fact that Kageyama was too scared of the same thing happening like middle school, he couldn't even think about it before the All-Japan camp and Tsukishima as he said himself, why should he jump higher when he already is jumping? Which can lead them in not getting points that they could have gotten because Tsukki just didn't want to try more. And the last one, the thing with Noya and Asahi. With Noya, Kageyama was able to notices this thanks to the libero(Komori) that was in the All-Japan camp that was able to not only pick the ball amazingly but NOT be in the way of the spikers that were coming from the back. As for with Asahi, it was literally a communication problem. Kageyama is prideful and knows, like I already stated, that both him and his teammates are great/strong players but then all of the sudden the tosses that should have been hit and score with no problems were getting shut down one after the other. If Asahi just told Kageyama before hand what he wanted to try (like Hinata always does) he would have been annoyed because who doesn't want to win and which setter doesn't want their spiker to score but at least he would have been understanding and not have such an outburst.
    So yeah, Kageyama needs social and communication classes but that is nothing new. He is trying in his own way and as someone has finished the manga he will improve bit by bit.
    PS. : Trauma can be scary and weight you down a freaking lot no matter how small it may seem to others. Don't underestimated it.
    Because I can't explain everything well, here is a video that can help you to understand better what I meant if you want to.

    For the first time I’ve seen Kageyama behaves like this, I didn't judged him. I mean there's always a reason why a person behaves like this. He wants to win, he wants to stay in the court. Hinata is first person who understands him. Kageyama’s passion in volleyball is actually terrifying. His backstory is actually painful. Besides, he's not good at communicating. He doesn't know how to express his feelings or say his opinions and judgements. But you know, he improved. You’ll understand why he became like this again when you watch and analyze season 4 carefully. Good thing, Hinata was around. Out of all people, Hinata is the one who understands him the most. Even though they bicker a lot, hinata thinks of him as a partner, not just a friend but a partner. He always thinks he's amazing. All characters here are flawed, most of their experience is realistic.

      Kageyama is too scared of what happened with Kitagawa. He has not enough communication skills to tell his spikers what to do without yelling at them. So he found another technique. He’s so skilled that he’s able to palliate to his teammates flaws, and that worked until there. But that make them kinda rest on their mistakes, without rectifying them. At this level, it begins to have its limits. Kageyama sees that this is not working anymore, and he doesn’t know what to do, especially after Atsumu said to him that he was a docile player. He doesn’t understand that he is skilled enough, and that the only point he has to work on is social interactions. He’s scared of it, because all his life others abandoned him. But know he has Hinata and everything is different.

    Kageyama took really hard what Atsumu had told him, because he saw how Atsumu behaved and maybe he thought he was in control of everything,but Atsumu behaves more of a king than Kags or Oikawa, Oikawa knows is his job to give the spiker every set EXACTLY like THEY want it, not like he wants it; Atsumu is arrogant and doesn’t think he did wrong is you miss a spike and can’t even be nice about it, his set was good and you’re a bad player if you miss it, while Oikawa apologizes even if it’s not his fault just to not bring a teammate down, Oikawa is overall a better player than Atsumu, no wonder he’s the captain. but that might just be my opinion.
    Atsumu’s words affected Kageyama more than it should, but i think a really good setter behaves more like Oikawa, he understands the position he plays perfectly , idk🤷🏽‍♀️

      @aieia3 Před 3 lety +18

      I think it was the other way around. Before this, Kageyama 'spoilt' Karasuno by keeping adjusting his sets according to their preferences and abilities. But actually Kageyama can do better and he knows how his teammates can do better, too. It's just that he is afraid that his criticisms would offend his teammates and leave him, like what happened in Kitagawa. But then it turns out that Karasuno members are more open to his criticisms (I dont know if it's bcs of their personality, their camaraderie, or that they're now old/mature enough for criticisms. Or maybe combination of all?). This is when Karasuno 'saved' Kageyama. So, yeah, they're such a great team.

      @@jokesonuiamwart1079 I'm just going to assume that Hinata was playing opposite hitter and someone else was playing middle. This is a practice match so they're probably messing around with positions.

    • @Revoltine
      @Revoltine Před 3 lety +1

      A libero doesn't always swap with middle blockers. Heck, I remember in the rally against Johzenji where Hinata went Spiderman, the back row lineup was Nishinoya (serving spot) - Asahi - Hinata and front row had Kageyama and Tanaka shown (safe to assume the third guy in the front row is Tsukishima as the front row will always have a middle blocker). This means he was swapped with Daichi at that round.
      If you guys look at professional volleyball, the libero would sometimes sub spikers to let them rest or have breathing space without using up a substitution. Sometimes, a libero doesn't even go to the court as they also need to rest, which is often the case during intense matches (see the very last rally against Shiratorizawa where Nishinoya is absent from the court).
      Middle blockers just tend to be the go-to position that a libero swaps with for several reasons:
      1) Middle blockers tend to expend a lot more energy than any other position. Every time the ball switches sides, they have to be jumping 99% of the time. This is from both jumping to block, and jumping to either do a quick or fake a quick as part of their decoy duty. Being a decoy is especially tiring as they have to do a running approach, jump, and then spike for real, even if they know the ball isn't being tossed for them.
      2) Middle blockers generally aren't expected to be stellar back row players. Back row quick attacks are exceedingly rare as it is more reactable than when done in the front row and loses the decoy feature. Their height is considered a detriment to their floor defense (middle blockers are often the tallest in the team and short players, by trend, tend to have better floor defense and ball control than tall players). Lastly, their energy shouldn't be wasted performing back row duties because of #1.
      In the case of this practice match, I'm 75% sure (it's been so long since I've last read this part in the manga) that they're trying to both see what Hinata learned in the training camp coupled with some of the surprising feats he pulled off during the Shiratorizawa match. If you guys remember, this is the point where Hinata starts to show signs of affinity towards floor defense and is starting to show great potential in performing flying receives.
