The Game That Baylor CRUSHED #1 Kansas State (2012)

  • On November 17, 2012, the Baylor Bears shocked the country when they crushed top ranked Kansas State 52-24 in the final game of the regular season. With a win, the Wildcats would have advanced to their first National Championship game in school history, but instead they fell down to #5 and had to play in the Fiesta Bowl. The Bears won due to their tough defense which forced Kansas State's Heisman candidate QB Colin Klein to throw 3 interceptions, as well as their explosive offense which was led by QB Nick Florence and RB Lache Seastrunk who finished the game with 185 yards and a touchdown. Overall, this was one of the biggest upsets of the 2012 College Football season. Feel free to comment ideas for future videos. Enjoy!

This year was immediately following RG3. Prior to this game baylor had lost 5 straight. This season was a make or break determining if baylor was here to sta or just a one hit wonder. The way the season went before this game alot of people myself included were content with the RG3 years being the best baylor could ever be. We had sucked for so long that it was like okay we got to taste winning at least we had fun. Then this game happened and baylor football was changed forever. This game right here made baylor from a garbage can job to a job that could have so much potential. Even to this day after all the scandals, we were still able to pull in coaches like Rhule and Aranda proving that the magic is still there. This game started all of that and it was amazing

I have been a K-State fan since I was a kid and had noticed that Baylor was getting a lot more competitive in 2005. I think we lost to Baylor in 2006 and then again in 2010, 42-47 and at that point I realized we were going to struggle to beat this team going forward.
So now in 2012 we are undefeated. However, I think my friends and I all knew we were going to lose. Everyone talked about their pass attack but it was their run scheme that was dangerous; like a power ISO or something? They had scored +60 @ WVU, 50 @ UT, they gave OU all they could handle. I was disappointed we lost but definitely not surprised. If you want an idea of what they could do on the ground watch their bowl game vs. N. Carolina in 2015.

I remember me being a young kid and watching this game. On top of this I remember on College Gameday some little kid gave a prediction and said Baylor would win. I scoffed at that, and I think it's safe to say after the dust settled my little K-State heart hit the floor. 2012 was the best shot we had at a title since 1998. While 1998 may have arguably been more heartbreaking, pretty much ending because of a singular fumble in the Big 12 Championship game, the 2012 game still irks me more. Maybe because I was actually alive to see my team get curbstomped? After that, 2014 was the last time K-State even had a remote possibility at a national title. Hopefully now with Chris Klieman we can get back to a spot where we're in the Top 10 and in some conversations for the New Year's Six in a few/several years like Snyder had done in his heyday. Maybe even choke a third opportunity at a National Championship lol.

I was ecstatic when Baylor went up big but then Oregon lost too. Notre Dame went from #3 to #1 the next week. Oregon went on to smoke Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl (the 1 point safety game). Their big thing was that they could consistently run the ball well and drain clock and they had a good enough QB to throw it deep every now and then. When the defense got loaded with injuries, they had to compensate with a higher tempo on offense to match Baylor's intensity. This was the beginning of Baylor's revival before all those sexual crimes and coverup by Baylor happened. You don't get it people, From 1996 up to then 2012, Baylor was a freaking joke in the Big 12. It was expected to put up 50 plus points against Baylor if you were Texas, OU, or any top 10 team.
