  • Time to go back to Sydney! This is a continuation from my flight that originated at San Jose in Sep 2022. This was also the first time that I flew using Hawaiian to Sydney with a stopover at Honolulu. Overall the flight was good. However, at the end of the flight at Sydney parked at the gate, weirdly enough, we could not disembark until the overhead storage compartments were sprayed down with some disinfectant.

    SJC to SYD with a HNL stopover for 2 days would be a great itinerary.

    The spray would have been an insecticide rather than disinfectant. Some airlines choose this option rather than other ways of complying with biosecurity requirements - years ago this was what all airlines did coming into Australia from required locations.

    Is your flight to Sydney 75 to almost full, how is the meal service, did you sleep on the plane, if so, how many hours and how much did you pay to fly Hawaiian airlines from San Jose to Sydney via Honolulu?

    Hello, I am going to Australia for vacation April 29th out of Phoenix to Honolulu for a two hour delay. Then on to Sydney.
    I am flying Hawaiian airlines.
    Watching your video, I thought the airplane would be MUCH BIGGER.
    Seems like it would be a cramped flight.
    Are you allowed to walk around in flight?
    Also, airline food doesn't seem to appealing to me.
    I was thinking about bringing two foot long Subway sandwiches in my carry-on backpack, for the 10 hour flight.
    Would I be able to do this?
    Are all Hawaiian airlines flying to Sydney that small of a airplane?

      Well the A330 is actually a widebody plane so it’s sufficiently large. It seems cramped because Hawaiian cram the seats together. I sat in Extra Comfort which has sufficient legroom but regular Economy is awfully cramped. Yes, you can walk around during the flight but I wouldn’t do it during meal service. Yes you can bring any food onboard and I highly recommend that. The food that Hawaiian serves is not that good. During your layover at Honolulu, there are food options so it’s not necessary for you to just get only Subway at Phoenix. You can get one sandwich at Phoenix for your flight to HNL and then something else at Honolulu for your connecting flight to Sydney. Enjoy your time in Sydney.

      Thank you for your reply.
      The only thing about getting more food at Honolulu airport is the prices are more inflated and probably smaller portions.
      Just my guess, but I bet I'm correct.
      Thanks again.

    There is nothing better than flying out of Sydney to Honolulu.
    Sadly there is nothing worse doing it vice versa 😅

      Honolulu is definitely pretty nice place but Sydney is also a nice place for me as I have family there.

      Sure no worries
I’m planning on taking is flight next summer but as I watch “HA451” it doesn’t show it’s a consistent flight. I can only search maybe days in advance, did you have this issue?

    • @BayAreaTraveler
      @BayAreaTraveler  Pƙed 9 měsĂci

      @@ProfessorSlade That's correct, HA451 doesn't operate daily. When I booked the ticket I didn't need to book it that far advance so I didn't have too much of an issue. But from what I can tell on flightradar24, HA451 does not operate on Sundays and Tuesdays. If you need to fly on those days, maybe Qantas or Jetstar could be alternatives assuming the timing of the flight works for your travel needs. Hope this helps.

      I’m seeing jet star
how are they??

    • @BayAreaTraveler
      @BayAreaTraveler  Pƙed 9 měsĂci

      @@ProfessorSlade I never flown them before but from my research and reading about them, review of Jetstar is not all that positive. Mainly if something happens to your flight such as delays or cancellations, it could be very troublesome to get it resolved. For me personally I steer clear from Jetstar.

      How so? Hawaiian Airlines has had a remarkable safety record.
