Lyrics:
Well I was rollin' wheels and shiftin' gears
'Round that Jersey Turnpike
When Barney stopped me with his gun
Ten minutes after midnight
Said sir you broke the limit in this rusty ol' truck
I don't know about that accent son
Just where did you come from
I said where I come from
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch sittin'
Where I come from, tryin' to make a livin'
And workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from
Well I was south of Detroit City
I pulled in this country kitchen
To try their brand of barbecue
The sign said finger-lickin'
Well I paid the tab and the lady asked me
How'd you like my biscuit
I'll be honest with you ma'am
It ain't like mama fixed it
'Cause where I come from
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch pickin'
Where I come from, tryin' to make a livin'
And workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from
I was chasin' sun on 101
Somewhere around Ventura
I lost a universal joint and I had to use my finger
This tall lady stopped and asked
If I had plans for dinner
Said no thanks ma'am, back home
We like the girls that sing soprano
'Cause where I come from
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch sitiin'
Where I come from, tryin' to make a livin'
And workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from
Well I was headed home on 65
Somewhere around Kentucky
And the CB rang for a bobtail rig
That's rollin' on like thunder
Well I answered him and he asked me
Aren't you from out in Tulsa
No, but you might'a seen me there
I just dropped a load of salsa
Where I come from
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta front porch pickin'
Where I come from, tryin' to make a livin'
And workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from
Where I come from yeah
It's cornbread and chicken
Where I come from a lotta back porch pickin'
Where I come from, tryin' to make a livin'
And workin' hard to get to heaven
Where I come from
Where I come from
Yeah where I come from
A lotta front porch sittin'
Starin' up at heaven
Where I come from
Where I come from
Tryin' to make a livin'
Oh where I come from
Where I come from
I don't always listen to Alan Jackson, but when I do, my neighbours half a mile down the road listen to him too 😊
Where I come from, people have taste in music.
Most underrated Alan's song
Wow, the world used to be so great
Love me some ALAN JACKSON Eugene ❤️ no one can compare to AlanJackson's voice, his looks or his character ❤️😅😅
Where I come from in Georgia this song definitely rings true!!! Country slang and all
That's how it's done you modern "country" guys
Ever a problem in your marriage, turn to Alan!!! Thank you, every song teaches a lesson. In 1992 I was 17,mom was slowly dying of cancer and i was a teenage statistic:pregnant. My mom had heard "tonight I climb the walls", I was a punk rocker so I listened half-assed next thing i had tears pouring like waterfalls Mom died when my son turned 6 mo. I was19.I played "Chasing that neon rainbow" for him every night. As years passed,he tried to turn thug, now hes grown & anytime he drinks--Alan is here.
Best underrated trucker song ever!!
Love me some Allan Jackson saw him at the State Fair in Pueblo Colorado always remember that concert! Thank you Allan
that's my home he signing about, loud and proud from Missouri
Met Allan at the Waukesha County fair, back in the Neon Rainbow days. Didn't have anything for him to sign but a check, so he signed it. Took several pictures, that was back when you could stand side by side and talk and no gorillsa on steroids to keep you away. Great show.

This song just ROCKS!!
He sings live very well - almost studio perfect. Not many artists can pull this off now days.
New "country music" is a lot of AUTO-TUNE pop crap
PLEASE read my TOTALLY honest and/or accurate comment

💓💓💓👍💘Skaisti!!!
I quote this song all the time. I live in FL with people from many locations which aren't Southern. I'm from the outskirts of Tampa which is a lot more country than most outsiders think. So people ask me where my accent is from, where I get my manners, why I'm obsessed with UF football, etc. I always say where I come from and many times quote specific lyrics from the song. 99% of the people don't know Alan Jackson much less this song. I'm obviously talking about the non-Southerners. Reminds me of a question from Jeopardy last week. It was asking what river Alan Jackson was singing about, which he was water skiing in the music video. Sadly no one knew it. Ken Jennings then said I guess you're not Alan Jackson fans. It made me quite sad.
Bravos 👏👏👏👏 por su acompañamiento Musical y su Música Country 👏 Bravo 👏👏👏👏🎼🎶🇺🇲🤠🎵👏👏👏🤠🇺🇲🎶🎼🎵👏👏👏🤠 Bravo 🥰🥰❤❤❤

Incredible performance!!! It’s interesting to me that Don Knotts lives on in the incorporation of “Barney” to represent a policeman 👮♂️ in our everyday vernacular.
God bless Alan Jackson at this time in his life he needs our prayers and Gods Blessings. Sept.2022
