THE SUMMER OF NICOLAS CAGE continues with Ghost Rider, a 2007 comic book film starring.. well, Nicolas Cage as... um.. Ghost Rider. Well, there's deals with the devil, the classic comic book hero's love interest rocky relationship, and the world hanging in the balance, but honestly I'm just here for the flaming skeletons and motorcycles.

So fun fact when nick cage is shirtless the only cgi on his body is to digitally edit out his own ghost rider tattoo
I doubt that...im.sure he has the tatt but the other part
I'm not shocked about the ghost rider tattoo . I know he has a superman tat as well and really really wanted to be superman at one point . Gotta give it to Nick Cage, he's doing the same thing I'd do with that amount of money . Comics and comic related tattoos
His stomach was cgi too , sorry to poo on your parade
@@castortroy6588 from what I could find those were his real abs.
As rumors went. But no, his and were real.
It’s odd because Nicholas Cage isn’t exactly usual hero choice for a Cinematic adaptation of Ghost Rider but his version has a special place in my heart
Didn't see 2nd film but 1st movie is decent
@@HenshinHeroesMedia Take an advice from me, take a couple of smoke a weed before watch the 2nd film.
@@azozazoz9196 nah. No depressants.
Snort some... Wake-me-up medicine.
It's from the dudes who did Crank. Can't watch that with low energy...
l remember he really wanted to play Superman too
@@HenshinHeroesMedia the 2nd movie is many ways worse, but it’s one of the trippiest superhero movies out there. The ghost rider scenes are ridiculous in all the best ways.
"Well look at that, Blackheart, you just activated his Trap Card."
Penance Stare
Inflict 500 points of Direct Damage to your opponent's life points for each Soul Token your opponent has on the field.
"Looks like you´re going to the Shadow Realm, Jimbo!"
Using it as an unofficial card!
"Now that's a lot of damage!"
Screw the rules...
@@fran3ro I have money!
Nic Cage's behind the scene photos in full skull makeup that he did himself is the kind of role devotion we love.
And talismans.
And sometimes a special hat.
Him screaming at the other actors inches from their face in full getup makes you similtaneously wonder why they didn't ruin every take with laughing ànd understand their genuine look of terror
@@user-zh4vo1kw1z 😂😂😂
@@user-zh4vo1kw1z It would of been great to see first hand.
He was perfect as 'Nostalgia Spidey' lol
For all its cheese, I really like this movie.
Yeah me too
Who dosen't like cheese 🧀?
"evil is all about rules and obligations.........explains all the lawyers"
Well good ans evil differ from lawful and chaotic. Dealmakers tend to be lawful.
Indeed Wolf, Ram and Hart did it perfect!
If you seen angel the series it really makes sense.
@@thesquatcherpayne8273 Hell their employees contracts even went beyond death.
This is the fastest I have ever clicked on a notification because this film is my guilty pleasure.
I like it for what it is. It's still better than the sequel
@@Megatron_95 God help us if Decker reviews the sequel.
@@crumplysaucer136 liquor is the only way to watch the sequel
Why feel guilty about it?
@@user-zh4vo1kw1z Because the general opinion is that it sucks. So I consider it a guilty pleasure.
Reble Wilson as random goth girl, didn't notice back in 2007.
I thought he forgot her but she there very dissapointed
This was one of the weirdest and my favourite Nicholas Cage/2000s Marvel movies in my youth time, i loved it!
Same. Im still dissappointed though they didnt do more with the old west rider. It was just such badass scene to me back then as he rides with his flaming horse, but then is like yeah "heres the contract bye".
Ever watched Man-Thing?
Bad movie, but an attempt at full on horror.
Kinda hope they bring that one into cannon with the next dr Strange.
Ghost Rider saves Rebel Wilson because this was totally filmed in America.
Roxanne in the comics was his stepsister. And his romantic girlfriend.
The "devil' is Mephisto.
Yeah... the whole "stepsister to romantic girlfriend" thing? I'm glad the movie deviated from that the way it did.
Wait did he really start a Summer Marathon in the middle of July??? Oh this is gonna be good I already see this ending in mid October
No... He started it a month ago....
You're optimistic - Try mid January :)
@@Trainwheel_Time we all know he ain’t gonna end a month long marathon by the end of july
This is the only film my brain will switch off because the special effects are so great. I love this movie. Nicholas Cage is a National Treasure.
The CGI still holds up after all these years.
I’m surprised Decker didn’t mention that the girl Ghost rider saved is Rebel Wilson credited in the film as girl in alley
I think a lot of folks forget that this film is a 2000s comic book movie - something of a genre all on its on, meant to be enjoyed by chilling with friends and just having fun celebrating the cool parts and riffing on the rest of it. It's nice to see a reviewer looking back at this one and embracing that. Oh, additionally, congrats to Lu for their first co-authored video! Good job, you silly butt dawg.
Please tell me I wasn't the only weirdo that shouted "Decker's Dog" when you saw the dog... Because that dog is freakin' cute.
While he's reviewing lu is making an comeback of cuteness for all viewers.
You should definitely check out Blackheart in the comics which looks like demonic predator. Plus what's more metal than a flaming skull on a hell cycle, a cosmic flaming skull on a space hell cycle. That's actually a version of him in the comics
Yeah I'm still kinda hoping for Cosmic Ghost Rider to come onto TV or the big screen sometime in the future, one of my favorite iterations of GR definitely
While this movie is not the best, and has some serious issues, this movie is definitely a guilty pleasure for me. The comics are great. Especially the 80s and 90s issues
My favorite thumbnail of yours Decker!
Wasn't expecting to see you here.
Me either
Tf are you duing hear? I em yor bomber not 1 but 0 fan I lika your work
Hello there, Cougar!!
I always get excited to see a video from Decker, but to have him topless puts the cherry on the cake...
Lol I read chest instead cake
Wait... what? 👀👀
Ghost Rider 2 is a special kind of weird. I can’t wait for that review.
As much as I would love the MCU to introduce Johnny Blaze and have Norman Reedus play him, I really love Cage as Johnny Blaze.
It would be cool. Even better if they ride together into combat.
Through the multiverse, all things are possible.
MCU won't Be doing Johnny bit they Will Prob do Robbie Reyes GR or The female one.. Alejandro something
@@trainerredcharizard7982 Alejandra Jones. And yeah, the MCU Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes, and Johnny Blaze was the one who passed on the spirit of vengeance to him after he got killed by a gang
definately one of the better movies from the Dark Age of Marvel films before the MCU, standing alongside Blade and Sam Rami's Spiderman, but definately still at the time when the movies were crapshows like Daredevil, Elektra, and whatever else exists from this time.
I’d like to say Cateoman but that was DC, still it’s very much in the mood of that dark era of comics
I've been hoping this would be covered ever since the announcement of the summer special!
Dito. Hope the sequel makes it onto his schedule!
Can’t wait till you do the “these cuts are giving me a seizure” sequel
it' so wierd that so many Cage movies are guilty pleasure of mine, even the second ghost rider. Cage is too entertaining ^^ and befor i forget... MANDY! :D
Lets see this movie
Never mentions the demon Zarathos, medallion of power, or Kale Bloodline
Uses a villian that mainly fought Johnny's brother Danny
Doesn't use Blackheart's,Mephisto's, or Wallow's comic designs
Merges Caretaker, Carter Slade, and Bounty Hunter
Uses Danny's Ghost Rider Design for Johnny and Badilino's hellcycle
Fo sho. I was going to mention the demon that possess jonhny blaze mane!
Who cares.
It's because Blackhearts design wouldn't work on screen.
@@darthcinema4262 wouldn't work? I think cost too much would be more like it
@@gcell10 That's also a good reason. The CGI would have to be too notch.
Not a Nicholas Cage movie but what about Blade? I’d love to hear your thoughts on that one
I have forever after seeing this film taken a magic eight ball along with me on dates.
10:18
Favourite superhero vehicle of them all.
It just feeds all my edgelord needs.
"If you dont like it, take it up with the Better Business Bureau".
Decker, that genuinely made me laugh out loud. Class.
You could but he would fuck with all their hearts and give them all fatal heart attacks
Yes! He's finally gonna take a look at Ghostrider! Thank You so much!
19:37 "a skeleton that's on fire, that's you Johnny"
"It is scripted", died laughing.
I remember hearing once something from the comics that I find really cool if it's accurate. Apparently there was a point where Ghost Rider attempts the penance stare on The Punisher but it doesn't work because for all of the lives he has taken he doesn't feel any remorse and doesn't see his killing of criminals to be acts of evil.
I don't really know much of anything about the characters of Ghost Rider and The Punisher respectively, but I fee like that actually kind of makes sense in a way provided my basic level of understanding and familiarity with the characters in question is adequate enough. If I'm wrong then I openly welcome being corrected.
Thank you for not lying about reading comic books like a lot of the reviewers do
Wow, a Blinx the Time Sweeper reference...that's rare.
Also, Puppy!
God I hope Drive Angry is part the summer of Nic Cage
Things I Loved bout Ghost Rider, Nicholas Cage, Crazy Train, Ozzy Osborne, And Spiderbait
God Ghost Rider is so fucking cool looking
Not comparing the movies to each other but I think his Spirit of Vengeance design is cooler than in this movie. The skull just always looked to clean to me.
@@gastererror2563 That's because it's supposed to. My complaint is that the skull looks too big, but I prefer the clean look over the burnt one.
I'm kinda shocked you didn't bring creepy In for this one
List of nic cage movies
1. wicker man
2. Lord of war
3. mandy
4. Pay the ghost
3:27 to be more specific Mephisto is A Devil or more accurate A lord of Hell. He is powerful and dangerous, with a Devil like appearance but there is an actual Devil known simply as The One Below All and he's....a bit out of Ghost Rider's weight class.
Wait, you ACTUALLY took one of my suggestions for this special???? I have never been more proud of being a regular Decker Shado review watcher.
How come Decker Shado doesn’t have 1 million subscribers yet???? Come on guys! We need to do our part and make sure Mr. Shado gets to 1 Million subscribers!!!!!!
This movie has a special place in my heart, seriously for some reason I used to watch this movie a lot when I was younger, and I love the review since I love the movie, I mostly repeat watch your Friday the 13th movie reviews, but I watch many other movie reviews. I’m really just shocked you’ve made videos on this platform for over a decade and have 180k subscribers, it really just surprises me that you don’t have more. I will be a long time subscriber because I love the videos.
Love that your coming back it seemed like you slowed content and seeing you tap into comics is interesting
I forgot Rebel Wilson was even in this movie. Fun little call back.
Decker is by far one of the wittiest reviewers. I always get a great laugh out of these.
Love the helicopter scene on top of the building! "You're pissing me off!" "Okay, okay, sorry!" LOL!
I called it! I knew Decker Shado would review Ghost rider soon when he mentioned The Summer of Nicolas Cage!
19:37 Saint Decker with a holy halo over his head.
My favorite CZcamsr talking about my favorite actor in a movie about my favorite comic book character.
Also, fun fact, this ghost rider's abilities are far more similar to the Danny Ketch version of the character instead of the Johnny Blaze version.
Just wait until Decker sees Spirit of Vengence.
SCRAPING AT THE DOOR!!
What a waste of a movie and star power. That was the definition of a "I need money to pay the IRS or I'm sharing a cell with Wesley Snipes" movie.
2:14 the simplest of jokes man. Fucking hilarious
I remember loving this movie when i was kid, and that transformation scene still holds up to this day
Nicolas Cage deserves to be in the Mcu !!!
Kinda Surprised you didn't point out that the Mugging victim was played by a just starting out Rebel Wilson (at least not yet)
Yes, you are covering my favorite Nick Cage movie.
Decker! Great work as always, looking forward to the next one! Nice job on the chroma key/ lighting work as well. *Thumbs Up.
17:12 “And in a completely shocking revelation that no one could have possibly seen coming” lmfaoooo💀💀💀💀
I love the extra info you give in every review it seems...such as that they used Nic Cage's skull in the CGI burning skull.
Yes! My favorite pre mcu super hero movie, and the inspiration for the 'ghost' part of my name.
Blackheart's line about strengths and weaknesses is similar to what vampire Deacon Frost says in Blade.
Speaking of Blade, Donal Logue is in that movie too as Frost's friend Quinn.
I’m a simple man, I see the best critic with the best haircut upload a video.. I watch it
As soon as I saw the doggo I knew this video was going to be 10000000 times better
“Do you think she will stand by you when you are in a wheelchair?” (Pause) “Yes?” Best line ever and said way too early to not cover my iPod in spit take coffee. Damn you.
3:30 Well, Mephistopheles is the Satan in the Marvel Universe but not our universe... And at least in the comics Mepistopheles is an actual demon while Lucifer is an angel - a fallen angel but an angel nonethelsess.
And the Ghostrider if memory serves is an actual former angel (Possibly the Angel of Vengeance) that fell when he invaded Hell, he was tortured and eventually became the Spirit of Vengeance...
How much on Patreon do we need to pay you to review all the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
They’re owned by Disney m they’ll probably gone down HARD on him if the does that
Perfect way to end the video Decker! Gotta love dog bloopers
I have now seen decker shirtless in the rain yelling about nicholas cage,
My life is complete
17:26 In the comics Carter Slade was a character called Ghost Rider before the modern version was created but when Johnny Blaze was created they changed his name to the Phantom Rider. And unlike Ghost Rider who's a supernatural being Phantom Rider is a normal human who uses trickery to seem supernatural.
Damn. Shado is ripped. Goals.
I pictured Decker starting the MCU reviews with either Blade or old 1970/80 Punisher movie
Making a deal with the devil, like that never turns out to be wrong.
Dog poking his head up at 6:58
Faust is one of my favorite stories. Pretty much anything that relates to it, I check out. 'Spawn', The 2009 British horror thriller 'Heartless', 'The Picture Of Dorian Grey', 'Absinthe with Faust' by Cradle of Filth, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, Both entire albums by Kamelot 'Epica' and ' The Black Halo', Faust in Guilty Gear! Yup I am into faust stuff too. Lol
Was thoroughly enjoying yet another Shado review....
when out of nowhere
A cute dog appears sitting next to Decker, then licks his face lovingly! That was damn sweet Shado!
6:23 Doggo! ^^
The first ever review by the “Decker n’ Doggo Duo” 🐕
I hope to see a review of "Season of the Witch" during this summer marathon.
It's not a typical Nic Cage movie, but I like it.
6:56 "Explains all the lawyers."
"Arf?"
Couple fun facts about the Ghost Rider.
Firstly the Rider possessing Blaze isn't a TRUE Rider, as I recall it's a demon lord who essentially pissed Mephistopheles off and was bound into Blaze as a Rider for Mephistopheles' amusement much as anything else.
Also, if memory serves Riders are one if the most brokenly overpowered beings in all of Marvel, but the catch is that there's a limit to what they can do w/o a host, kind of like Angels and demons in Supernatural.
Great review. I enjoyed Ghost Rider when it was released. Beside Nicolas Cage and Sam Elliot riding out together was a great scene
OMG I also thought of Bruce Campbell at that first transformation scene! XD
This is one of my favorite, if not my favorite review of yours. Love ya brother
10:07 CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE
Is it just me, or do these green screen backgrounds look better and better in every video? Keep up the good work. I wonder if "Gone in 60 Seconds" will be part of the summer too.
I love the first time Johnny turns into the ghost rider
7:28 - 7:30 Nick Cage: "Mostly Ebert lumping my Sorcerer's Apprentice movie into the category of *Better than The Last Airbender, but not by much.*
Was honestly expecting the line about Nicolas Cage lobbying hard to play a certain comic book hero to end with a joke about "Superman Lives" and that infamous costume test picture of him. Probably for the best, though, that you took the high road and avoided that overused joke.
5:42 Image from curse of the demon one of my favorite classic horror movies
I will say that last ride of the previous rider scene had a pretty good song for it. This movie is kind of a guilty pleasure lol.
Also, I think Sam Elliott is the most western actor I've seen still working, even on The Ranch I could believe his backstory was he won the ranch at the saloon and had to shoot the angry guy who lost it in a QuickDraw.
The doggo is the true hero of the show
Lou has turned into a good doggy.😀
YES. I've been waiting for this one as soon as the Summer of Nick Cage was announced.
I feel like the only piece of comic lore Decker should have had is that in Marvel Comics, Mestopholes plays the stand in for Satan since the comics aren't brave enough to invoke the devil's name.
However that's not so much Deckers fault than is is the film.... I just think that would lend some insight into Fonda's acting that could improve Deckers review... But again, that information being lost is the films fault, not Deckers. Decker did a good job.
2:33 - 2:52 This scene is so saccharine, I almost forgot this was Ghostrider, and thought we entered a Nicholas Sparks movie. Though Ryan Gosling in a Ghostrider movie has potential. He already did a hell of a job in Drive (2011).
I went to high-school with the actor that played young Johnny
Behold! Decker's first Marvel movie!
Hopefully, he'll bring that number to 2 by covering the sequel.
