Christina has great pipes, but poor vocal technique. She damaged her voice by singing to the top of range on most of her songs with poor technique and now she has lost her flexibility to move within her range.

@@charongilchrist9305 We will have to agree to disagree. Christina has survived the last decade because she has not done significant touring and overuse of her voice. But her voice doesn't have flexibility and she has a lot of rasp, which she is indicative of vocal damage. She can't naturally hit her top range, she will have to sing up the range to reach top or she will break in the middle and play it off. That girl just didn't get the necessary early vocal training needed for great vocal technique. People like Whitney who had impeccable technique and toured extensively in the 80s and 90s, only developed vocal declined because of her excessive vocal use and drug use, but with Christina it is because of her poor technique.

This is back when Pink was still smoking cigarettes. Her voice is so much better and seems to get better with age. She received the Billboards Icon Award this year and is only the 10th person to receive it. It's best to watch Pink's live performances. She sounds better live, upside down spinning in the air!

Pink is my favorite performer. Her live show is remarkable! I think anyone that does a reaction to her does a disservice to themselves if they don't watch a live performance instead of a video. I was just saying her voice was more raspy when she started. She kicked ass but her voice has gotten stronger as she has gotten older. I am sure the exercises she has to do to accomplish all she does in a show has helped as well. Can you actually imagine how strong she is both mentally and physically. I think she is incredible!

Fun fact, Labelle’s version was actually a cover too. Who sang it originally, nobody remembers because Patti and them killed it lol
I remember them performing this live at the VMAs and of course Ms Patti came out and did her thing. Some comments were confused about who she was and why she was singing with them!

This song was banned on radio in 1974 until they changed the french lyric to: do u want to dance with me? Instead of do u want to sleep with me. Moulan Rouge is a cabaret near paris france, but with alot of prostutution connotations. Ya ya means women. And yes the original version was the only hit for the group LaBelle. You have to hear that version for sure.
I remember asking my mother what that meant because she could speak French, and she was shocked when I told her back then it was in a song lol!
The original Patti LaBelle song was about the Warehouse District in NOLA: Storyville and Tchoupitoulas near the Mississippi River where the sailors would unload cargo and maybe stay for some gals and some gambling.

Yeah, the original was song about a prostitute in New Orleans. Hence "creole", "magnolia wine" and skin the "color of Cafe au lait". The chorus "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir" (which sounds like Vu lay vu ku shay a vek mua se swa) - free French lesson - means "would you like to sleep with me tonight".
This updated version came out for the Nichole Kidman movie Moulin Rouge, where she plays a Victorian prostitute/can-can dancer at the Moulin Rouge (IRL burlesque venue still existing in Paris).
I was around in 1974 and it was always 'coucher', or lie down, when I heard it on the Chicago radio stations. Maybe they changed it in some geographical areas.

Plus the original phrasing is sounds so formal to say it’s an invitation to have sex. Surely a real prostitute will try to create a false sense of intimacy with a potential client? “Tu as envie de coucher avec moi ce soir” sounds sexier and implies naughtiness better.
I had already taken a first year course in French in high school. So, I knew what they were saying.I have yet to visit France🤷🏽♀️
