    Thank you for this informative video. I was quite anxious about moving a clock, but was confident I could do it, after watching your video. It turned out that it was the same exact clock, so I followed your instructions exactly, and it was a breeze. Thanks again!

      Be sure to gather the ends of the chains and insert them into a sandwich bag and tape around the opening to secure the chains within the bag. This prevents the chains from swinging loosely in the cabinet and potentially breaking the glass or mirror.

      What did you wrap it in? Are moving blankets enough?

    Hello, I used your video to prepare a clock I purchased. When I cranked the weight up I think I did it too high. Couldn't get the weight out due to the newspaper. Now the cable or wire has come out. Yesterday i found a video showing how to put the wire back in but now I can't find it. Do you have any suggestions or do you have a video for this?

    Do you recommend the clock be hauled upright or laying down

    When moving in the house, I just take the weights and pendulum out, move the clock and put them back in, it's still holding perfectly well in time. But I guess for long distance moves, more steps should be taken.

      Did you lay it down when you moved it?

    Can I lay my winding gf clock down to transport it to my house?

  • @whourdadie
    @whourdadie Před 4 lety +1

    After doing this, is it ok to lay the clock down on it's back? I'm getting a moving truck to move it from Ky to FL, but I don't think it's as tall as the clock.

    • @howardmillermkt
      @howardmillermkt  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes... as long as the movement cables or chains are tight and secure. This will prevent the cables or chains from unraveling.

    • @whourdadie

      @@howardmillermkt The one I'm getting (from wife's mom and dad) also has more glass than what your clocks show. What do you recommend to protect the glass? I'm not sure if it's easily removed so I can wrap each piece of not.

    • @howardmillermkt
      @howardmillermkt  Před 4 lety +1

      Blanket wrapping the entire clock is the best option.

    The pendulum on my clock stops swinging after about 5 minutes, any knowledge on why this is happening? Thank you

    • @chewy98ta28
      @chewy98ta28 Před 3 lety +1

      Make sure the clock is level first. If so the thing that the pendulum hangs on might need centering. You can do this by using the force or put a piece of paper at the bottom of the clock and mark it where it ticks or tocks and adjust it my moving it to the side where the tick is closer to center. You'll want the tick and tocks both about equal distance from center. If that doesn't work it probably needs new oil. Pay for that or you can buy the correct oil and cleaning kit and there is a guy that does it on Ytube if you are handy and can follow along.

    Unnecessary to secure the cables to their drums with tape to prevent unspooling? No caution to avoid bare hand contact with weights or pendulum?

    How do i fix running to slow?

    • @Taro550
      @Taro550 Před 5 měsíci

      I'm not sure if this helps, but a lot of grandfather clocks have a knob on the bottom of the pendulum. Turn it to the left (clockwise) to slow it down and to the right (counterclockwise) to speed it up. Only a very, very slight turn is needed, like less than a quarter, and adjust as needed.

    Howard Miller can't be bothered by pesky customers. They direct you to contact an authorized dealer for questions. What if I don't want to contact a dealer for a question about a specific model?
