I have watched this moment of the coronation a dozen times and cry every time. There is something so touching about watching a son pledge a holy oath of loyalty to his father. As a parent, imagining my child doing such a thing, as an aging newly crowned monarch who has SO much obligation on his shoulders, it is nothing short of the ultimate act of love of a son to a father. Charles must feel so alone at times, knowing he alone has this duty, and so to have his son, the heir to his throne, kneel before him and promisee that he's got his father's back, no matter what, is profoundly touching.
What are you rumbling about. They cut ribbions at dog parks and host dinner parties for foreign dignitaries. They hold no real power. Absolute monarch has stoped being a thing long time ago. 2023 and there still a monarch is ridiculous.
Get a grip. The world would be much better without them and their awful family

There have been quite a few examples of royal offspring that weren't up for the job. Queen Elizabeth's father AND grandfather weren't supposed to be king, but both of them were far better kings than either of their elder brothers (the first of whom died and the second abdicated) would have been. Charles really lucked out with William being the first born.

@@hotfudgecake So silly. Then there must have been psychics who helped plot that "murder": Diana changed her plans at the last minute - she was never supposed to be in Paris. Her and Dodi even changed the car they were travelling in that night at the last minute - as a decoy attempt to try to fool the paparazzi. Diana and Dodi died because they were not wearing seatbelts. The other person in the car lived - he was wearing a seatbelt.
Charles definitely smiled after Willam swore his allainace and that kiss on his cheek shows the bond between father and son how close they are. :)

Yes, King Charles looked incredibly calm. I was trying to imagine what it would be like waiting 75 years for this moment but, strangely enough, I can't imagine it.

I woke up early,took weekend duty from my hospital work just to watch this historic moments in time,and the moments of the KING and Prince of Wales gave me goosebumps and tears. He is really the dignified true heir,and someday he will sit there too,becoming one,and hope I am still alive to watch him.He shown the world what is the duty and obligation to monarchy ,not trashing them for gold. .
Have you seen Prince William's speech at the coronation concert? I just watched it. He speaks about the importance of service, that he wants to serve his country and the Commonwealth, and he thanks everyone who serves in the forces, in hospitals, in classrooms etc.

This brought tears to my eyes. The loyalty and honor of William contrasted with his brother who has betrayed his whole family.
Harry didn t feel loved as the same level of William, that s why he started his "rebellion" only now that he felt a little bit stronger to do it. Saying "betrayment" is too much. All that for a book he wrote?? So many emotions that both Charles and William must have felt. Charles, remembering himself having made the same pledge to his mother, and thinking about how much he hurt both his sons by cheating on their mum but how William remains loyal and supportive to be, what a fine young man William has grown up to be. William was looking to the side, trying to make sure he perfectly remembered the words, also probably trying to not become tearful. Incredible moment. Wow.
Charles was only 4yrs old. He pledged his oath at his investiture as Prince of Wales.
Here is the difference; William knows the truth of his parents' marriage (and the whole nation knows who was the first to cheat), you don't.
I’m happy for King Charles III. He lost his father. Not long after, his mother. Then Harry wrote cruel things in his book including fantasizing murdering his own father.

Very touching William kissing his father's cheek... also little Prince Louie just 4 standing proud and singing at the top of his voice the anthem God Save the King. These moments reminded us they are a family and obviously a devoted one.
