    I'm just messing with sketching and ended up with a bunch of Jinhao 82 extra fine tips and have had great success. Of the many, only a couple of nibs gave me a problem. I have ink that matches the pen colors, so I have a lot of fun. Someday, I'll invest in higher quality, but for now, it's about fun with what I can afford. I got every color from China for 3.00 a piece. The seller sent various nibs, likely anticipated somecwould be funky.

    I got lucky and received a Jinhao with an absolutely smooth writing nib. My one in a hundred, so to speak, as every other Jinhao I'd had has been scratching and unpleasant. My only complaint is that the snap cap lid does very little in terms of keeping the nib wet and unless it's being used frequently throughout the day, it hard starts when I pick it back up.

      @@HemingwayJones Hi Hemingway, Thank you...looking forward to all of your ideas coming to fruition. Two further suggestions if I may. Given your interest in horology how about a watchs and pens combinations video? Also I feel, for people new to fountain pens, a video illustrating $100,$200 $300 total budgets within which to purchase compatable pen,ink and paper (or a journal with fountain pen friendly paper). Dollar amounts are my suggestions only. Kindest regards, Patrick.

    I had high hopes for Magna Carta brand , but my experience with the Denima and Elements fountain pens was underwhelming. Despite spending over $300, I encountered issues: the Denima quickly dries out, seemingly due to an ineffective cap seal, and the Elements pen presents filling difficulties. This suggests a lack of quality control, particularly disappointing when even more affordably priced Chinese brands like Asvine and Hongian offer greater reliability.
    My interest in their flex pen remains, yet my past experiences and concerns about quality control leave me apprehensive. Regrettably, my two Magna Carta have been more ornamental paperweights than functional. This, coupled with negative feedback about their customer service and problem resolution, makes me reluctant to take the plunge on another of their products.

      @@HemingwayJones Thanks for the info. I do not really spend money on (especially Chinese) companies that made a modus vivendi out of copying others. Asian companies have very often interesting designs like for example Studyo Agaçkakan or Kilk from Türkey or Delmoonpen from India, they offer raden and eggshell pens for excellent prices, I do not really know why someone would buy knockoffs, maybe for children ... but well .. these are just my thoughts.

    • @HemingwayJones
      @HemingwayJones  Před 6 měsíci

      I agree about outright knockoffs, but Jinhao usually tweaks things just enough. Many pen designs are derivative of others; even from the greats. I also love the pens of India and elsewhere that have a unique quality. For me, the QC issues are my biggest concerns. I cannot recommend a pen to a new fountain pen user with a 50% hit rate. Thanks!
