Your nightly routine sent me back 40 years when my husband and I moved into a 35' converted school bus. We lived in it for several years with 3 large dogs (2 of them half-coyotes), traveled everywhere and loved it. Our nigh time routine was almost identical to yours: we did everything we, and the dogs, had to do prior to going to sleep. My husband or I would then drive to a spot (we had several selected in an area of San Diego), park, slide curtains "mid ship" and go to bed. We left front windows without curtains so that it would not be so obvious we were sleeping there. The dogs were super quiet all night, as we'd trained them to be - they were the best part of our lives, wonderful companions and friends. It was the best 8 years of our lives! So glad you are doing this and making it work. Keep enjoying it!
I would love to do this! I just bought a van a month ago, it’s been slow going, gotta save back up now but I hope it’ll be good for me and can’t wait to get out there. Biggest hurdle though after saving up is quitting my job to have the time to do it. So scary

I know a lady who used to live in a transit with three dogs. I was absolutely amazed when I saw it- she had a proper bed, chair, and everything had its proper place and she kept it spotless! We lived on the costa del so so she used bars for food and toilets and showered on the beach ten minutes away or at friends places. She eventually got a lovey big house with her job, but kept the van- I was always slightly envious of her lifestyle.
One advise: if your internal door handles, in the front seats, form a loop creating a hole, take a long metal chain and run it between the two then secure the two ends together with a lock, but keep the key in the lock for a quick release, just in case. Make sure the chain is in tension by not leaving any slack. By doing so, if someone picks one of the doors locks while you are sleeping, he won't be able to swing open the door because the chain, anchored through the other door's handle, will hold it in place. The same would apply for the opposite door. It's an added layer of security, stay safe. PS: you can buy a chain at any hardware store, they are not very expensive.
you should make a video showing this. A lot of campers would appreciate this. (not sure about leaving the key there because then they can just brake the window and have the keys)
@@kaylzshter6153That's why you lock with a quick release lock. The lock wouldn't open if the chain was tugged (and thus the lock too) and instead the human inside has to release it. Having a key in seems okay, but you could have a press release lock.

There really is nothing like driving alone at night to make yourself question your entire existence and all your life choices
If she had the capacity to question her life choices she wouldn't be living in a van doing whatever the fuck knows what for a living, white woman living in a van in her mid 30s with a dog ("my fur baby!!"), no children, no stable life, no job (unless she works remote) going to a different place every night rather than settling down, I have to assume she doesn't have IRL friends either since if you are moving to a different place all the time you can't make friendships.
Typical white woman behavior, when the remaining of her youth (if you consider mid 30s youth) is gone maybe she will reconsider her life choices and realize that this "independence" was just acting like a teenager in her mid 30s, but hey, I guess that at least she was able to do stuff such as...going camping more often I guess? lol

Way to go!!

Great idea!
you should make a video showing this. A lot of campers would appreciate this. (not sure about leaving the key there because then they can just brake the window and have the keys)
This is such a good idea!
The issue I see with this is in the off chance of a fire in the van, you basically chained yourself inside.
@@kaylzshter6153That's why you lock with a quick release lock.
The lock wouldn't open if the chain was tugged (and thus the lock too) and instead the human inside has to release it.
Having a key in seems okay, but you could have a press release lock.
You should install hidden cameras outside of your van. Stay safe and blessed.
I agree.
