    The best part of this video is from 4:59 to 5:12! I love the fact that you show what the swing looks like from the angle of the target looking back at the golfer. This perspective shows me exactly what I need to do with my arms, wrists and hands. Other camera perspectives (face on, down the line) only hint at these conditions. This view nails it. I wish other instructors would do the same. Very well done!

    Milo, the way you understand yourself and explain the golf swing to, I would say serious students of golf, there is no parallel. Thanks for sharing these pearls of wisdom which not only us but generations of golfers would venerate. You are simply the best. For me the most important piece of this video is from 3:47 to 4:15 where Milo explains how the chest needs to flex back down into the ball to allow the arms to get back to the ball in a powerful position with a stabilized club face. I have been trying to learn this for 6 weeks now. I had early extension and now I am teaching my body this move. Slowly I am seeing a progressive move to this position that Milo is teaching at impact, but it is a process for me.

  • @christianhanley57
    @christianhanley57 Před 4 lety +1

    Thanks so much. You are really helping me to piece the swing together into an efficient, cohesive unit. In addition to the importance of flex, just watching the angle of the club and the path it takes during your down-the-line swing speaks volumes (looks a lot like Peter Thompson!).

    The method to feel getting closer to the ground, is it a knee bend or a hip bend? Please help me understand where the closer move comes from! Add a bit of flex, the knees bend more, maybe be more distinct in the move.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 3 lety +2

      Getting into the ground involves returning pressure with some flexion in the legs with the hips staying back, this keeps the chest more on top of the ball if done correctly. Thanks for watching!

      @@MiloLinesGolf Ive even managed to create right side width! a sign of which,for me is feeling the weight of the club in the butt of the grip at transition. You have probably always felt this but im sure you realise 99% of golfers that learnt as adult males are massively clubhead orientated. Why, because their 1st priority was fear of embarrassing themselves with the fear of topping,chunking or whiffing the ball,2nd priority was hitting it straight.Having made what feels like major changes in lockdown im occasionally whiffing the ball which is weird for a 4hcp! hopefully i wont revert to my very straight but only 210 carry swing when i start playing for real!

    Great video...
    04:30 and 05:00 is for me the so important part... see how his hands are the lowest at the rear leg and then they rise... my opinion one of the most crucial things to understand... you will never want to stand up (early extend) cause the brain knows that you will hit over the ball and miss it... therefore naturally wants to go down and release the club later... for fun I checked out Ben hogans book again and searched the picture with the glass plane around his neck.. and the forward swing is not only slightly out but it is up too... never realised that small important detail... unfortunately

    Hey Milo, great content and concept! Reminds me a bit of Gankas. What’s the feel from the Top? Is it first the squad down and then 2nd let the Club fall behind with loose wrist, 3rd pivoting and then 4th unload into impact. What does a strong grip look like that promotes a more stable impact and to get straighter through the Ball? Does a Strong grip also promote a later release and needs more boyfriends or squad? Love to try it, getting more in-to-out and rid of Fades with the Driver! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 3 lety

      Stronger grip can produce a stronger face, if done correctly, you can rotate hard and the face will stay more stable this way.

    • @MiloLinesGolf

      Swing gets slightly flatter as the club gets longer. Divot depth depends on technique, ground conditions, and clubs. Picking and shallow attack can work well too!

  • @BamaPaul
    @BamaPaul Před 4 lety

    You do a good job explaining Milo . I do a lot of videoing and flexing/squatting is the only way I get my trail hand over right thigh at p6 . Otherwise it’s just outside right thigh. Of course if you don’t keep wrist angles it’s fat city if you flex .Still bouncing back and forth between you and Malaska tho. I’m still not convinced you can create more speed by flexing. But again I dealing with lot of neck/back issues so I’m not a good model . Like your teaching keep it coming 👍

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety

      Paul Malone thanks! I can create about 10 MPH with my action than with the Malaska type move but I’m not playing with any injuries.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety

      Paul Malone you can go through the longest and straightest hitters on tour and you’ll find nearly all have a bit of a sitting action in transition. Every long driver sits in transition then explodes from p5 through impact

      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety +1

      Paul Malone Mike and I teach on the same tee and His voice carries so I hear everything he teaches and He hasn’t mentioned tipping the club in more than a month. He is almost exclusively teaching low tension in arms, hip depth in backswing and down swing and face square to the arc throw release pattern. Just in the last week I have heard him talk about sitting in transition to help keep the hips deeper. I’m pretty sure my ideas are rubbing off.😉

  • @gbblues48
    @gbblues48 Před 4 lety

    Hi , big fan of your channel. Regarding the final section of the video where you discuss the rationale for flexing the knees to get the clubhead to the ball, you make no mention of the right side bend. Surely this is a critical component of downswing? Is it not the side bend and the shoulder coming down which gets you to the ball rather than the knees flexing, given that the upward ground forces occur optimally well before impact happens?

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety

      gbblues48 yes watch my videos on the importance of bending. I make all these videos in 1 take so I don’t always get everything into them. Gaining flexion is important because it allows you to put force into the ground and keep rotating!

  • @lizardears4861
    @lizardears4861 Před 4 lety

    Great tips. I also took in that your right foot rolls in at impact and the heel doesn’t come up too early.
    You have your hands way forward at impact in the demonstration, in order to maintain the angles. Is this just a feeling you have and in reality are the hands that far forward at impact?

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety +1

      Brend Carbonati yes my hands are directly over my forward foot at impact as are most PGA tour players. Most LPGA tour players reach impact with the club in-line with the lead arm which is a good target for players with more average speed.

    • @BamaPaul
      @BamaPaul Před 4 lety

      Golfletics I notice that to not much lowering on LPGA .

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety +1

      Paul Malone very high club head speeds require more lean of the shaft to lower launch and spin optimizing ball flight. Lower speeds need less lean of the shaft to create enough height and spin to hold the ball in the air.

    Hi milo, how important is coil in the golf swing?? I've been playing poorly until I started coiling in the takeaway, creating a stretch. Now I'm playing well since then. What's your thoughts??

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety +2

      chubby chequer depends on what is meant by coil. A nice big shoulder turn with good arm structure is very important. Some players like to feel like they restrict their lower body turn, I’m not a fan of restricting the lower body. I also don’t want it to move excessively.

  • @vanceweber4094
    @vanceweber4094 Před 4 lety +1

    @golfletics .....wonderful Video....two quick questions. First, are you saying that the arm/club structure that you've built at the top, stays essentially intact until you get in the hitting/delivery area as you seem to demo? In other words NO effort to bring arms down actively? This seems to be an issue that is discussed on social media alot. Would appreciate your view. Secondary, in terms of wrist mechanics, at 4.40 you show right arm "unloading" and THEN right wrist unloading. I get the sequence. The next part has always confused me (right wrist unloading). You SEEM to be demo-ing right wrist and right index finger pointing out towards target which would translate perhaps .....into a sort of horizontal slapping motion of right wrist. Is this an accurate observation? What type of release do you call this? Does this translate into a neutral type of shot shape, or slight draw? Thanks in advance.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety

      Vance Weber yes the structure built stays essentially the same however the right arm does extend some amount from the top into impact approximately from 90 degrees of bend to around 30 degrees which creates the lowering of the arms you ask about in the second part of your question. Watch my transition video and my video on not tipping for more clarity on this topic! Thanks for the great questions

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 4 lety

      Vance Weber some would call my preferred release pattern drive hold but I’m not holding anything back it’s all created by the sequencing. What happens after the trail arm and wrist are fully straight doesn’t matter much.
