As a "regular" Midwestern American, I can confidently say that my opinion on tipping falls squarely on the side where tipping is qualified on the SERVICE you received, and NOT as an assumed "gift" to the staff. This assumption of automatic tipping occurs throughout our country, so it isn't merely an Orlando tourist scenario. And most importantly, rest assured that the vast majority of Americans are thrilled that "you Brits" come here to visit us.
Great vlog! Thank you for going into so much detail with everything! It's really helpful for a non-experieced florida goer!
Absolutely spot on with the tipping comments. When I went to Orlando over 10 years ago with my family I remember servers being friendly, nothing was too much trouble, sometimes over asking. My experience the last 2 weeks, servers were laid back, didnât seem interested (different to US citizens), then when the cheque came, tip was circled with âthank you for your gratitudeâ.
Kinda felt like the tip is expected from servers now, no matter the level of service!
My husband popped to the shop for snacks, 2 hours will be like going to the movies đżđ„€đ.
Love all your Travel Day and 1st Day vlogs, our first day ritual is always hitting the Malls & Outlets love it, keep bringing us them Florida vlogs, wicked đđŒ
We experienced all of them issues when it came to tipping last week. The annoying thing is, the foods not cheap or subsidised at all, if anything it costs more than anywhere else due to location. Yet we are guilt tipping the staff even when we have average service. The tipping culture is out of control
Love the long vlogs enjoyed Walmart in depth trip I love the way we got abit of everything well done you two xđ€
Great vlog today guys and thanks for sharing with us all đđ», still jealous đ
We came back from Florida a week before you arrived and I have to say tipping does seem to be getting out of hand...I felt like we had to tip the birds for singing in the morning
I agree!
Love watching you guys, we are first timers heading over in 2024 cannot wait. Until then we will watch all your tips and recommendations.
Why am I addicted to these British Disney vlogs? Maybe they are a bit more excited about being in Florida? Cool couple, I learned a bit too, thanks for the journey!
Thank you đ
This has been a great watch, I really enjoyed it and I feel it is great you show the Walmart too with all the prices, very interesting to see all of that, âïžđ
False, he is always lateđ
As an American I agree the tipping situation has gotten out of hand. The companies have put it on the customers to pay their employees a living wage. This has discouraged servers to give great service because they may not get anything in return. Servers realize that tipping is not a thing in Europe or other countries. They think that if someone comes from a different country they wonât get tipped and focus on others that see that âstandard.â Of course you donât have to tip. As a former server I always try to tip. However, if the service is terrible I will tip little or not at all (depending on what happens of course!) It has also gotten out of hand with places such as Gideons, ice cream shops, and others. A lot of them use square which automatically asks if you want to tip. Iâm sorry but Iâm not gonna tip you for putting something premade in a bag or if I have to do all the work. I would say tip how you see fit! Also, I would have went to another server or the host and asked for a drink! Thatâs ridiculous paying that much for a drink (with free refills) and only getting the first drink.
Absolutely love your vlogs and would watch them no matter how long they are!
Great vlog from your first day. Loved the outlets and we watch your videos all the time. We actually said about those shirts been good for your dad too đ you guys are making us want to re book again. Looking forward to watching all your holiday vlogs. Also congratulations on your 60k subscribers đ stride on đđ»
We like the Vineland premium outlet , plenty of good deals to be had đđ»
Loved this Vlog!!! Especially the Walmart part! Iâm soo needing a Walmart haul nowđ
Thank you đ woop
Totally agree with you both regarding tipping. In the 20 years weâve been going service in and out of the parks is not the same. But feel the pressure to up tip to make sure servers have good enough pay
Absolutely cracked up at you both using the water shooters! Omg so so funny!!!!
Thank you đ lol
My first morning I get up early and make myself a bowl of cereal, toast with butter and jam and a nice drink and sit in the villa watching the news and then set off to the magic kingdom, I am definitely gonna visit that lake next time though
Love the long vlogs . Especially from Florida đ
Have lovely time looks brilliant in Florida đ
Hi ya guys
Love your vlogs
Our fist day is always Magic Kingdom, get in early for a Starbucks and something to eat then rope drop and straight round to Space Mountain đ
But we also love celebration đ
Great vlog we so enjoy these videos! We moved here to Orlando from UK about 15 months ago and regarding tipping: You must tip here. Sometimes the bill gives you an option of 15 20 or 25%. We usually do 20. Unless itâs poor service. Donât tip if your just buying something over the counter obviously but even these show a tip option believe it or not. This is America and tips are how people make a living as they are on minimum wage only. As Brits we arenât keen either but thatâs the culture here and we are used to it now. I am surprised that your saying that they are showing favoritism to Americans, but I guess in tourist areas they can âsee Britâs comingâ as our reputation precedes us unfortunately. I do agree they arenât âall over youâ as Britâs anymore. It used to happen years ago but now there is a much bigger immigrant population serving us than before and they couldnât care less where we are from. Keep the videos coming we get all our ideas from you!
Thank you đ good points!
I love your vlogs very professional You are both a breath of fresh air â€
Thank you đ
I am American. You used to tip for the service, if you don't get the service, they don't deserve a big tip or none if it is really bad. You can tip 10%, Average tip is 15% , if you have great service we tip 20% . Orlando, NYC, Atlanta and California are expensive. Servers don't get paid well and I know they depend on tips but they need to put in the work. Hope that helps. I only not left a tip once and that was because I was alone and next to a table of 10 and 2 waitstaff were more interested in them , finally had to go up to the front and ask for service after waiting more than half an hour.
Thanks for the information đđđœ
Watching you on those water cannons was hilarious, and I thought I was a big kid when I get to universal đđđ
Our favourite restaurant last time we were there was cheddars scratch kitchen. Lovely food. Good price. Have fun guys. 2hr vid. Love it x
First morning routine, Perkins on the 192 at 6.30 am .
Then SeaWorld.done that every trip since 2003 .
Nice đ
I would say as far as tipping goes wherever you are in the world its all down to the service and the food if its a good experience they deserve a tip if not then no they dont and it tells them to up their game, nothing should be taken for granted especially the paying customer...
Hi guys great vlog as always, as somebody like Andrew and frequent visitor to the states since Iâve been a little boy I totally agree with how the service has got worse and the expected tip higher. I must say tho that itâs not just a Florida thing as Iâm currently in Palm Springs whereâs thereâs little to no British people and the expected tip and most of the time the service isnât great. I guess itâs just something that needs to be factored in to the cost of a visit to the states these days!
Keep the vlogs coming guys!đ
Agree. But in all my years I've learnt to now not feel the pressure of having to tip. If the service wasn't up to scratch or you simply haven't got it don't leave it. That said it's automatic to leave a bar and simply leave a $50 for instance even though you've only had $40 bucks worth.
Just back from Orlando. Great but agree, minimum 20% tip is too much. Especially when prices have gone up so much. Bought a takeaway Starbucks and chip and pin was all set up for 18,20 & 22% tip. Thatâs on top of a $5.85 for a takeaway coffee! Very disappointing.
First time following you guys in your Florida trips absolutely lovein it canât wait fir more đ
Thank you đ
Tipping !! We are just back from a 3 week break over in Cape Coral.. the suggested top amount on the bill used to be 15/20/25% ⊠now I noticed the amounts start at 18/25/28%. We went to a Irish bar, they had no waiter service, you ordered drinks and food at the bar, they brought the food over to you but then asked for 20/24/28% tip. They got a 15% for what little service we got.
The commentary on the water guns đ€Ł could watch it all day đ€Ł
An American friend told me how to tip in Orlando if itâs good service - just double the tax on the bill thatâs about 15% but if the service is just Ok I only ever leave 10% - please ignore the amount they circle in the bill, theyâre just trying to get the arm in
How have I only just found your channel?!!! You two are so lovely to watch. Really enjoying your Florida clogs.
Thank you đ welcome Felicity đđŒđ
Love love love this video †love long vlogs chills with the snacks at home I feel like I'm there with you đ
Thank you đ
You can use the Disney 14 Day Ticket over 18 days from the date selected to start it, itâs in the small print âșïž just in case you thought it was 14 days only. Love your vlogs, weâre back in September, canât wait!
Thank you đ
Looks lovely nice blue sky enjoy Andrew Laura đ
Another excellent vlog - thank you SO much for taking time out of your trip to film for us - so appreciated.
Florida rain ? Rather be
Get soaked in Florida than back home - the rain doesnât bother me - itâs usually a welcome relief !
Absolutely loved this, Great video! I miss Orlando so much, when you sprayed the guy in the blue I was laughing my head off at that
We usually just guess for tipping in restaurants, leave approx $3-4 for cleaning when staying in hotel, Uber tips depends on how good the ride is. Once got a car full of rubbish, he didnât get a good tip!
Just brilliant Andrew. So funny with the water sprays. đ You did well with the shopping too. Look forward to the next one. So enjoying the vlogs. Have fun! đ„°đđ„°Xxx
Love your videos!!
We just subscribed & are watching from Memphis, TN
You do know how to travel the right way
Your condo in celebration is gorgeous đ
You drive so good on the left side, is Americans could never adapt
Hope you enjoy your trip & so happy to have you & Laura in our Country!!
Stay safe & Happy đđ
Great Vlog. Being extra good to us Florida nutters giving us 2hrs of Florida goodness đ
Thank you đ lol
Proper lols at you water shooting everyone Andrew đđđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Our first morning is rope dropping Islands of Adventure â„ïž
We love your videos. Watching them always makes us feel like we are on holiday. We also love celebration - we went in March and managed to see the exotic car show. We love starting our holiday with an early start (thanks jetlag), IHOP and a definitely a Starbucks coffee.. Although dunkin donuts are pretty good too đ looking forward to the upcoming videos!
Thank you đ nice way to start!
Yet another great vlog Guys, love the content, and Iâm with you Andrew on them water squirters, they are a must, and my go to bit of fun in Universal đ€đ€đđŒ
Thank you đ
Our first morning routine is and has been for a long time going for a Dennyâs breakfast to start the day.
Same here mate đ
Hi,
On our first morning we always go to Dennyâs for breakfast then go shopping. Usually at the PGA store as we are avid golfers.
Really enjoy your videos đ
I tip what i want to tip, not what im told to tip, love your videos, going in Aug, cant wait
Thank you đ
When I went back in 2013 I was only 19 years old, first time to Florida without my parents, Pizza Hut messed my order up twice then gave me a bill with the tip already added, I demanded they removed it completely, the manager ended up giving me the bill for free due to my order getting messed up, but I genuinely had no idea at the time that tipping was essentially mandatory! I tip a couple of quid in loose change here in the UK, I wouldnât dream of 20% unless my waitress did a song and dance for it, literally! Obviously I tip in Florida now, but usually 10%. 20% if the server is extra attentive đ
Thanks đ tips are a nightmare
We love to go on a morningwalk at Lake Eola park in the weekend đŽđđ»
A great epic vlog...I have shared it with friends, so happy to be making notes from your ideas...the Walmart is great, but don't overlook the dollar tree for park snack and drinks, also branded make up repackaged in plain white and see through bags for Laura. Can't wait for the next one...thank you. đ
It was a very good Florida road trip blog day 1 yesterday when you visited celebration to chili out having a coffee break in Starbucks , chilling out on all the rides in universal , it was a very good shopping blog when you visited Walmart and premium outlets aswell , chilling out having your dinner and some drinks in the cheese cake factory in Orlando for the Florida vibes andrew and Laura
If you donât tip, theyâll come outside and ask you why not! They can be cheeky - weâve now just started to mainly eat in good fast food type places and maybe only eat formally once
Well tell them that they haven't earned it đ
I've been travelling to the States since the 80s and the tipping thing you get used to. However there is an expectation that you tip no matter what. That's incorrect. Watch the Americans. It's based on how YOU feel you were served or serviced. Don't feel pressured into it cos you're on vacation or because you're a Brit and don't want to appear rude. Also simply give what you feel is appropriate or can afford. Where possible tip the server directly (if allowed) . Above all enjoy yourself. If there's one thing Americans know it's great customer service. đđđŸ
Wonderful First Vlog, Andrew and Laura.
Totally agree with the tips, we last went in 2016 so i can't judge between then and now how the waiters are, but it was bad enough in 16, but 22% would in my opinion put people off travelling which would be sad.
Think Laura deserves her trips to Florida just for sorting out your socks in the laundry đ
Oh and congrats on the Disney APass, hope it works out better for you both.
Stride On for Day 2 đ
Love checkers ! Fries bacon cheeseburger and shake omg yummy yummy I prefer to go to the Vineland outlet as well !
As an American I tip according to what I think is a living wage, so much less than 18% at a place where the bill is $50(maybe 10%) and the waitress is handling several tables, but at my local breakfast restaurant which has a $4.40 breakfast special I have to tip more(like $2-3) so the waitress doesnât starve. When I was a waiter 30 years ago I didnât mind when foreigners didnât tip because most were traveling on a budget. Americans have more disposable income so they can tip when others canât.
Thank you đ
First morning Cracker Barrel for a really early breakfast and then celebration for our Starbucks. đ
We are going to orlando for the first time in September this year and will definitely be taking a trip to celebration town, it looks so peaceful and relaxing.
We always enjoyed a trip to celebration, but careful where you park at Celebration, because if you park facing the wrong direction you can get a ticket.
@Peter Piper that's great. Thank you for the information. I would have probably been that person who came back to a nice ticket on the car.
Love how u both get excited still, just love florida too. Lauras quiz is cute, got to be false, oh n andrew u crack me up... keep em comin đ
Thanks so much! Stride on đ
Love seeing fellow scousers having a lovely time đâ€
Thank you đ
Going to Florida the first time at the end of July, think Iâll be making a visit to celebration looks really chilled! Iâll keep an eye out for other top tips! đ
Thank you đ
First day i went to Perkins for breakfast. IHOP is always my second favourite for breakfast
Lemon loaf and coffee ,cake first then the icing ,always a must in Florida
Thank you đ
Honestly itâs mine and my boyfriends favourite thing to do in universal is use those water cannons⊠hours of fun đ
I drive a Toyota Highlander, which is a bit bigger than the Rav4 and I absolutely love it. You canât go wrong with a Toyota. Love your vlogs and the tips you give to folks. I live in Florida (Iâve told you that before) but didnât know you can get additional discounts by providing your email address in the shops. Also, if youâre not happy with the service you bump the tip right down. You donât have to leave any tip. Service is individual, not everyone provides good service.
Thank you đ
The Disney passes.....years and years ago, you could buy a 2 week pass, use a day or two and use up a few days the following year, and the year or so after that, and after that. Have a great time. Look forward to seeing your videos.
Morning routine for us - get up as early as our body clock does, then head to Hollywood studios for rope drop! This year(October) weâre going to try and change it up and go to celebration. I want a coffee on the rocking chairs â€
Thank you đ nice routine Megan!
Hi both
Watching your vlogs for years, out in florida now.
Celebration is our go to when in Orlando, hope to see you out and abot
Thank you đ
Volcano Bay on first day! American Starbucks too, can't beat it!
Starbucks in Orlando is more expensive than in the UK. Plus it took me ages to work out why my large Starbucks lattes were weaker than here, and that is because in America they only put two shots in a large latte, whereas in the UK they put 3 shots in.
Some great information, especially all of the detailed information for Walmart.
Glad it was helpful!
2 hour vlog, yes please đźâ€
I think you guys are spot on with all your comments about tipping. I've been going to Florida for 45 years and always tip the minimum expected, 15% before, 18% now, plus a bit extra for exceptional service. I've definitely noticed a decline in service which feels it may just be towards the Brits. In 2022 we had the same waitress at California Grill we'd had in 2019 and her attitude towards us was a lot less attentive. We still tipped her $80!
Thank you đ
Hello Andrew and Laura! Love watching your videos! My first morning routine is straight to Magic Kingdom and straight to Haunted Mansion!! đ» love it!
Hope you both have an amazing time away đ đ
Last 2 trips to Orlando, first mornings breakfast at Kekeâs on Conroy Road then the 10 min drive down to Universal Studios đ
Our first day is always morning by the pool then outlets. But think this year will definitely be a Starbucks at celebration
Nice routine đđŒ
Brilliant vlog!
Thank you đ
Sitting here laughing head off at Andrew squirting everyone 44:52 đđ
Hahaha đ€Ł
Our first morning is, coffee from Starbucks, donut from voodoo and straight to target for supplies đŽ
Nice đ
I loved this vlog it has everything in it. Last year at Cheesecake Factory, my meal never came out she forgot to order it then they ran out of chicken for the club sandwich, we never got refills it was just a terrible meal and service so we left nothing. We normally do 18-20%. I do agree that we used to get such good service in Florida but itâs not as good nowadays.
Thats a shame, resteraunts so hit and miss these days!
Itâs good to see that you had a good experience in Cheesecake Factory as we felt we had a bad experience there at that new one near Vineland. It had just opened though so I guess they had a few bugs to iron out - they are racking up the prices compared to others
Good vlog length đđ» more like it would be ace
Only been to the US once, last March, on the way back from 3 weeks in the Caribbean watching England cricket there. Spent 4 days in New York, there was two of us, both mid 20âs and more interested in the liquid lunch side of things rather than actual food. But we only tipped 10% on food and tended to tip a dollar on a round of drinks which usually was 2 beers. The amount of money they must earn per hour though if everyone gave an 18% tip⊠would be crazy.
Love celebration
The tip thing, I remember same as you I e been going since 1992 and everyone would be all over you, oh your from Liverpool we love the beetles, no itâs like sit down, service, big tip. When I spoke to my server in Millers he said they donât expect it anymore as they know times are hard but a lot of staff have kicked off at customers over tips, which isnât a good look
We love The Cheesecake Factory. Our favourite restaurant is in Connecticut to be honest. I get the thing about service. It's luck of the draw. Over the years I've come to the conclusion that if your server is let's say more worldly and they figure you know what's what then you get a better service. They are much more attentive. That said it's our favourite treat and no matter where we are in the States we always have a Cheesecake Factory meal on our last night before flying out. Great video guys. Loved the shopping. Brings back so many memories. Mines a Miller by the way (draught or hi Life) đ
Lemon pound cake gorgeous đ
Lol Iâm away for the weekend ,so Iâll have to watch in dribbs and drabs ! Canât wait to watch this x X our first day is breakfast at the quick service ( which ever dvc we are booked in ) and a morning in the pool then itâs Epcot ! This year Iâm hoping for a character breakfast at toppolino at the riviera then pool then moonlight magic at HS as Iâve got tickets ,Iâm so excited
Thank you đ
đđomg we spend about 1-2hrs stopd on that boat with them water cannons đđ literally the best!!
So fun!!
Routine for many years is First morning Dennyâs at silly oâclock followed by big food shop in Walmart then AM chill at the villa
Dennyâs was always our first day tradition (and many other days). The grand slam was our favourite (love their pancakes). Not unusual for us to be at Dennyâs on our first day at 5am (the one on the 192 junction with the US27).
Nice đ
I donât agree with the percentage of tips, years ago it was 10/15/20% we have always tipped around 10% which I think is more than fair
10% is fair, that's what we've been doing whilst here.
I agree
This is my pet hate. I work in a shop and nobody tips me for doing an excellent job. I'm almost on minimum wage too, so don't tell me these people make less than me. Should a person that makes 24k a year tip the same as someone that makes 60k a year??? And I have taken into consideration different wages, average earnings, cost of living etc.
10% is not the norm in the USA at all. It has been 15%-20% for many years and now due to inflation it has increased to 20-22%. Remember the servers do not get paid a lot at all. Iâm Canadian and we are also known as terrible tippers in USA and in most cases we are. We assume that US servers get paid comparatively to what Canadians do and they donât.
@@Straw5377 well we are arriving in 6 days for our yearly vacation and we will be tipping 10% for good service, us brits along with other tourists help keep people in jobs and it should be the responsibly of the restaurant to pay their staff the correct wages in line with inflation.
Weâre Australian and we didnât tip in Australia because the restaurants pay a decent wage. We were in Florida in March of this year and the service has become really disappointing and they want a huge tip. We paid the tip but itâs not earned anymore itâs expected⊠we now live in Canada and tips are expected here as well, Starbucks expect a tip to make a bloody coffee at the drive thru
I agree!
Enjoyed the vlog. I have owned a Rava 4 for three years and love it. I live in the US and things seem to be more expensive here than in the UK. I usually stick with the 10% tip unless the service is great then I willl give a more.
Banana Boat Sport Ultra Factor 30 small tubes, but last a week or so. $1.25 from Dollar Tree⊠Simples! đ
Absolutely love watching your May Florida series so far! We stay at Indian Ridge when we visit Kissimmee. Can you tell us what your favourite Chilisâ is?? We are the same as you guys, chilis is one of our favs. Thanks for the fun Vlogs đ
Tipping.. The US really do need to pay staff a decent wage. It is not down to us to top up their pay. 10% is plenty. So many people think you have HAVE to pay what it says in the bill, you donât!
Love our Florida holidays and your Vlogs are a fab top up until our next trip đâ€đ
