  • Why we think Legend Suspension is better than Progressive Motorcycle shocks!
    In our first video about shocks we compared Progressive shocks and Legend's shocks; today we look at the front suspension of our motorcycle! I have been waiting for this day for a long time and it is here!! Today we are installing the Legend Suspension AXEO Front Suspension on our 2019 Road Glide Special. Hand to hand against Progressive shocks... you can see and feel the difference!

    I installed these on my front and rear last winter. The difference is unreal. Traveling with my son and we hit a bridge that about threw him off his seat on his bike. I noticed it but the legends ate it up so much I wouldn’t have mentioned it if he hadn’t said something. These things eat up the big bumps and you’ll never bottom out the front again. Good stuff!!

      What gets me is all the Harley Haters out there spewing stories about how they got treated so badly by a dealership. I've been in many shops, from San Francisco to Miami, and never once felt slighted. I currently live in Alabama, and getting ready to buy my third H-D, because of how customers are treated.
      ok, age might have a little to do with it....
      But still, never been in any other kind of retail outlet that throw's a mini party for the customer.

    I love my Legend suspension. I have a 2015 SGS and I’m not sure if the stock suspension is the same as the newer bikes but my stock suspension was horrible. I started with the rear REVO-A and wow what a difference in handling. Then I installed the front Axeo and it felt like a different bike. I’ve put well over 5k miles on the new Legend and no issues. I installed it all myself. Do your research and when you feel you’ve researched enough then research some more. Stay safe and enjoy the ride 👊🤙🤘

    • @TheOrneryOne
      @TheOrneryOne  Před 3 lety +9

      It does make a huge difference when recommending a product.
      We have had different brands "give" us product to try & use.... if you don't hear me talking about them, it's for a REASON! We have burned a few bridges with that mindset but neither Steph or I feel that we can do a product review video on a product that we haven't rode with for over 300 miles. There are plenty of those types of reviews on CZcams!
      so... whether Steph used a Groupon coupon for these shocks, got them for free or paid over MSRP for them..... I am talking about them because I think Legend Suspension is better than the other main name brands.

      @@TheOrneryOne appreciate you taking the time to clarify how you approach these things, I think most of us have no doubt that you mean what you say and you say what you mean and you spend time with things before talking about them. Having said that....informed decisions can’t really be made without knowing whether someone paid their own money for something or has a little less skin in the game.
      If you are willing to clarify in this case, I struggle to see how it could reflect on you any way but positively. If you’d rather not say for some reason, that’s obviously your right as well, and I doubt most of us feel that it would be for any nefarious reasons, it just helps us weigh recommendations when making a buying choice. Thanks for your time. Take care.
      Edit: for what it’s worth, I assumed that you bought it because I tend to only watch people I believe will disclose if something was provided for free, so I still believe you paid for it because you haven’t said otherwise.

    When setting the preload (number of turns) you shouldn’t add the weight of the passenger to choose the setting for a plush ride. If you want a stiffer ride for cornering then you can bump it up. Just to the right of the chart it states that. I almost set mine to 1 turn because I ride 2 up but want the smoothest ride so I set it up with just my weight.

    • @TheOrneryOne
      @TheOrneryOne  Před 3 lety +1

      Correct! The installation & preload setting chart is not a one size fits all. The points that they want you to consider is *Do not include the passenger weight when determining the preload adjustment.
      Our mechanic set our preload to 1 turn. 1 turn only because that is the weight of the Rider & Running Gear (250-349 LBS). If we had included the passenger weight along with mine & our running gear then we would be in the 2 turn range.

    Not exactly the best source for a fair review. 2 guys that are obviously in Legends back pocket. Then you compare a $750-$875 Legend Kit to a $500 Progressive Kit. Which you don't do a true "ride" comparison. Just some outer visual comparison which tells people nothing of performance. Both brands use High Pressure Gas Monotube design but the PS unit (if I'm correct that you have this monotube model) also has their F.S.T. tech that adjusts to the damping based on various road conditions. Legend does not since it patented. So a "true ride test" may reveal the PS units perform better for around $300 less. Just more #legendhype
