- Dr. OTEK MT6 Pro Pinpointer test & review. We were giving the opportunity to try out the new MT6 Pro. How did it perform and compare to other pinpointers?

Glad you like the Simplex+. It's a great little detector at an outstanding price, especially now that it comes with the free pinpointer.
I am also testing the Dr otek pinpointer with the simplex and have no issues with interference. Dropped it a few times in water and still works great. Took it apart today and dry as a bone. Dr otek is onto something here.
I agree.... as any product, there are some things they can improve on the next model but overall it was decent. nice to know it did ok in the water as stated.

have a thought to the term "gypped" before using it. I have Romani friends. They are loyal, honest and generous. The carrot is perfect for me. In the past eight months since starting "underground" hunting I have just reached the amount of coins to buy a second one. I think we are lucky dirt diggers up here in Canada because we have so many $1 & $2 coins in circulation thus in /on the ground.Thanks again for another great show!

I really enjoy this video. My very first metal detector was a Dr. Otek. I now have 3 Xterra pro equinox 700 and nokta legend. I'm currently using a Garrett carrot as my pinpointer. I think I will be picking up a Dr otek pointer soon. Y'all's back n forth in the videos is one of the main reasons I watch. You keep it fun and silly most days yet still informative good job guys on a stellar detecting channel.

That park you guys did your filming at brings back so many memories for me…my buddies and I dug so many deep, old coins there….back in the 90’s it was labeled a silver mine park😂, but I didn’t get to detect there til around 2007’ish….it was still loaded for me and my buddies when we started hitting it with our Minelab FBS machines…the ground at that park gets noisy(mineralization), making it difficult for the avg Joe detectorist to hear past the 7” strata layer…you guys do so many giveaways, which is awesome!! Big detecting news the past few days with the release of 3 different ML machines…😬
I like that you are familiar with our dig locations... Sounds like you had quite the amazing hunts back then. Our channel did better than ever expected and since we make people watch ads which do pay a little money, it is nice to use that money to give back to people who make this possible and fun.. it is a great community. I almost forgot... I think I will pin a message but I am excited about the new Minelab products. I was looking to get the Manticore but now, maybe the 900. It may be a better fit for me and how we hunt.
@@DigginSoCal I agree with you on your rethinking of getting a 900 instead of a manticore….I don’t think the $600 additional cost of the Manticore will gain you and Christine much benefits…the 900 looks like a very solid upgrade to the 800.

If money is not an issue, my go to is still the Garrett but all the pointers we showed in this video are decent. I am not sure when the release date will be but if I find out I will post it. I am guessing the price will be somewhere between 50-80 US dollars.

@@DigginSoCal in my experience the nokta pointer doesn’t go real deep, but works great for tot lots and sync’s with the simplex wireless system. Good luck.
The weather this Winter in SoCal has been colder and rainier than usual. Also, more prolonged.

whats most important when we are talking pinpointer is buildquality . any of these will do fine , but the garrett is superior built . personally im using the MI6 and i ticks all the boxes , quality , sound, link . depth and sensitivity

Ive not heard of that pinpointer before but it looks pretty great thanks for showing us. I use a pulsedive as my pinpointer currently and I like that because its USB charging. I have previously had a cheap one similar to the Garrett carrot that took a 9v battery. Its a spare one these days.
I have heard some cool things about the pulsedive... always good to have a backup.

Also in the market for a metal detector. The Simplex looks like a good one for tot lots.
Victor, I have been a Minelab fan and do love their detectors. However, the. more I use the Nokta detectors, WOW... way better than I expected. If your not doing beach surf hunting then the Simplex is an above average detector. It is easy to use and with the SP24 coil makes for a great park/grass detector.
I have the same finds pouch. Love it but the stitches on pointer holder could use some reinforcement

The quest xpointer max has a display and discrimination built into it. Oddly there aren’t many reviews on it so maybe that’d be a good one for u guys to try out.

FYI, the NOKTA has 10 sensativity settings, every time you turn it on, it is at the default settin of 5, at level 10 it will detect deeper.

Ordered an Equinox 700 tonight. Will be interesting to see how much difference it makes over the Vanquish 540 Pro pack I use now.
I feel like the Minelab Pro Find 35 got the shaft on this one. Was the sensitivity turned up? I have one and it can really go deep with the sensitivity turned up and once you get the hole open you have to turn down(couple presses on the - button) the sensitivity because it lights up the whole hole. It then points you right to it. I like the performance of the Pro Find 35 but the placement of the little speaker is in a bad spot and can easily be covered with your fingers. As always, Christine cracked me up... Love your channel!
I agree... I have 2 Pro Find 35's and they were my first pinpointers... Maybe this one was having a bad day? I did turn it all the way up. Even though I like the Garrett better the 35 is still great. I have accidentally turned down the sensitivity on the 35 while using it.

Great comparison. I took am a Garrett carrot person. I do have a question ❓ when using the simplex+, how does the Dr. Ortek preform, do you still have to mute the simplex when using the pinpointer? Awesome job you two

I didn't see a place to connect a lanyard to the Dr. O. I detect in water sometimes and use a Garrett. Having a lanyard keeps you from losing your pinpointer.
There is... It actually come with the lanyard already on it. I took it off for the video.

Hey that 28 id on the legend most of the time is a pull tab or junk but a couple months ago I dug a 28 and ended up being a 14k Gold Diamond Ring.
I have been digging a lot of pull tabs but yes, I won't pass up any target... you just never know

The Nokta was the sensitivity turned up on it? I have one and love it, I also have mine lab but I use the Nokta and let the kids use the other one
Yes, I turned the sensitivity up on all of them... the Dr. Otek does not have sensitivity adjustments.
One thing I noticed is that the dr otec doesn’t go completely solid on the beeps when directly touching the target like the garrett does! I don’t know how I feel about that. Your recovery with the Dr is a little slower then the garrett when recovering the targets I noticed in the dirt.
I did notice that too. I have a few suggestions for Dr Otek when I get a chance chat with them....

I don't like pinpointers that are too sensitive. It makes it difficult to determine if the target is in the bottom of the hole or in the sidewall.
That is a very good point. Although the Garrett is the strongest, I have had that issue many times.

i love my nokta pinpoint. you can adjust the sensitivty from the back. you should see if same as dr otek with sensitivty on high. hh
So far so good with the Nokta PP. however there is no adjustment for sensitivity on the Otek.

Nokta pinpointer cover with the digging edges is really handy, I put it on vibrate only. Is the Dr. 9V or rechargeable?
The Dr. Otek uses a 9V but you can always use rechargeable batteries. I like that cover..... will def give it a try
The MT6 Pro has also a interference Stop when the Light turns green...

Let's get to the point on this pinpointer... I would like to have seen the air test over a plastic ruler for a bit more info on the detection difference between models. Its dazzling light display is very exciting and adds a bit more info on the target location, cool & good! Bill did hog the pinpointer and we know he is a pinpointing pro... If it helps Miss Christine find a target, now that's something! And I think we still need to see it in Bill's hands crawling under the playground toys. Maybe a test with similar sized gold and silver objects too. If it is as waterproof and powerful as the Garrett they definitely have something there. The Garrett seems to be the benchmark in pinpointing, anyone trying to hit the market needs to meet or exceed the Garrett.... I would also like to see it dropped in a bucket of water for 8 hours for us water hunters. Keep testing while you have it! Although I've been hunting for 40 years or so I haven't been as lucky as you two getting to test new cool guy products! Keep the testing coming while you have it! 🧲((((((🪙
Yeah, I had a ruler laid out and totally forgot it.... I like the water bucket test... now that is a good idea. It is not cheap to test items... some free but we pay for most. I don't like the free stuff because I don't want a company try to tell us what we have to do on a review. You would be surprised at how many offers we turn down.
