Life’s rich pageant for me
I was 16 when Murmur was released. I remember staying up with my brother and watching TV. I saw their first national TV debut on Letterman. I bought Murmur that weekend. I have literally grown up with R.E.M. I'm now in my late 50's. I own every single R.E.M. album. My favorite? Murmur because it was the first and the B side of that album is unbelievably beautiful. My sentimental favorite is Lifes Rich Pageant.
Hell yes. Talk about the Passion is my favorite and Perfect Circle is in my top 10 ever songs. It’s close to my heart.
"Fables of the Reconstruction." 👍
My man
New Adventures in Hi-Fi might be my favorite R.E.M. album as well! It’s the perfect sprawling culmination of every styles the band had ever done to that point. You get jangle and distortion, intimacy and stadium feel, quietness and loudness, light and darkness; I just adore it. Michael Stipe had never been so confident than he is on that album!
Life's Rich Pageant.
Murmur is their best album
Agreed.
Murmur, for sure is one of my favorite debut albums!
Automatic for the People is their masterpiece. Just add Losing my Religion as an extra track and it's perfect.
John Paul Jones brought the star dust
My Favorite Album Is Up. Criminally Underrated One. A Pure Gem.
Agreed - it's probably their album that's influenced me the most
UP is a overlooked album.
I'm warming up to it
It's my fave too, really different sound to their other albums
So much information packed into one video
Green 💚
Definitely: Up and Reveal!
This is insane. The two albums he mentions are near the bottom of my list
Same
Fables for me
I don't think any of the others even come close
"Murmur" is their best Record. "Chronic Town" is a Close second.
New Adventures is an amazing record. Leave might be my favorite R.E.M. song, the siren on that song is so fucking awesome!
That album sucks it’s so boring bill berry decided to quit after making it.
I like Fables of the Reconstruction best. Something dark and murky about it. Even the album art reflects that with its rustic brown tones. I was surprised when Life's Rich Pageant came out and how bright it looked and sounded.
They have about five albums that I could say is their best or my favorite but if I had to pick a favorite it’s reckoning followed very closely by murmur
Indeed, there is something about reveal.
Love Michael
He’s my hero!!
His music is beautiful
Their music is beautiful. Mike Mills is ultra talented
I miss them❤
Probably Up for me. I knew he'd mention Reveal somewhere, ha!
My top 3 are Automatic For the People, Out of Time, and Monster.
Two more to round out a top 5: New Adventures In Hi-Fi and Document.
Eponymous ❤
Monster is my favorite REM album by far
Fables and Life's Rich Pageant
Tough one. Pound for pound chronictown. Fables. Document
OMG - this is so great - Michael agrees with me! 😂
Can't believe how hard it is to get my friends who think REM "sold out" (when they went to Warner) to even give this album a chance. Their loss I guess.
So which is his favourite R.E.M album ??
new adventures
Out of time
I have the feeling Im not allowed to say it is the best
@@robertsteinberger5667 i agree with you 💯
@@dallasseale2178 I would even go so far to say that Monster isnt really an REM album : )
@@robertsteinberger5667Monsters a weird album, cuz it was clearly meant to be reactionary and abrasive, not all that dissimilar to In Utero by Nirvana. The problem is it just sounds like over driven R.E.M. songs, it's not aggressive just fuzzy and kinda boring, the songs that work are the ones that would've worked fine on an acoustic guitar
Automatic for The people es mi favorito.....
Mine is Fables of Reconstruction
I believe that any album mentioned by a true REM fan can be the best album. Albums like Automatic or Reckoning aren't my favorites, but I totally understand that they could be someone else's.
Ebow the letter and leave are classics.
Automatic for the people. Huge.
I can hear you
'Up' could've been their 2nd best but it was just too damn long. 'Automatic For The People' is majestic in terms of artistic maturity. 'Murmur' and 'Reckoning' are sister albums so it's hard to consider one without the other, but Murmur was their best because it's so damn enigmatic and atmospheric. 'Out of Time' was a perfect mid-career album for them.
New adventures is a fantastic album.
Murmur/Automatic..
Green
''Green" or "Out Of Time." It tends to vary!
In no particular order. LRP, Up, NAIHF.
Fables!
I love how he explains its not about road life, only to say its about road life but its too boring and cliche so i added fictional characters to it lol
Monster
Fables 100%
Murmur
Love Automatic For The People, one of their best albums.
Favorite songs are The One I Love, Losing My Religion and Everbody Hurts
Murmur, Fables of the Reconstruction and the criminally underrated Monster, for me.
