    Love all my Mesa/Boogie amps but if I had to choose between my Triple Crown 100 or my Badlander 50, I would choose the Badlander. Just more presence and sizzle and more of a rectifier tonal background.

    The Willie Adler video showing him playing the Triple Crown 100 on channel 3 is a badass tone. I got the TC100 for the power soak options and to crank out some Lamb of God riffage. Incredible amp. Have not been able to try a badlander but I do have a rectifier already so no rush. Thanks for shooting these out though. I think you would really like the TC100 w the power soaking options.

      In all seriousness I love the TC 100 if I was going to get another amp it'll either be the Omega Obsidian or the Bogner Ubershall, both amazing amps

    The Badlander sounds like what i really like about Mesa gain more than the TC50. It has more "fluff" or "loft" in the low mid and bass. It's like the spongy type of response. I really prefer that over being thinner and having more of a crackle like the TC50 has.
    Badlander wins for me.

Does it sound good yes, nothing revolutionary. I also have the triple crown and unless you just insist on the rectifier sound I like my TC 50 over rectifiers for most things except maybe my seven string. I have the Badlander amp and I can say that having the mids all the way up doesn't make the cleans have a more Jazzy tone or a more classic rock sound on the distortion channels, it has a weird sound to me, but thankfully the Mids being at the 12 o'clock position is enough mids for my liking. I love how the Badlander can be plugged directly into a computer with some cab simulation settings, but I do have a 2x12 and Sennheiser mic for my Badlander which I could use too. I think the Badlander sounds better than the Triple Crown for modern metal tones and I think the Badlander looks better too.

    I have a BFG Amplification modified Dual Rec that is my benchmark Dr. My only complaint about the Baflander is it seems to lack the fullness and overall huge tone a rectifier. When I had it, I couldn't shape it as well as my BFG Dr or even my 2001 Dr with an OD. It seemed to thin out more than the older Recs. I haven't enjoyed any newer rectifier as much as the older Recs, unfortunately. I also had the Multi Watt DR, but man, the older ones, including a Rectoverb, ate it alive. :(
    The Triple Crown is a nice amp.

    I haven’t played a Badlander yet, I have a Mark V, a TC50, a Fillmore 50 and a mini rec 25. I used to have a multi watt too (recorded my bands ep with it check it out in Spotify or iTunes if ya want band name is Nightside District) love ur videos, I think from this video I would get a multi watt again instead of the badlander just because the multi watt is more different to the TC tone than the Badlander! Keep rockin!

      Hey Mike. Does your Mk V compliment your TC 50 well? I just picked up a TC and was thinking a V 25 head would sit nice on top of that. Which one do you gravitate to more?

    I am very happy with the Mesa Triple Crown 50 head. I am not a fan of anything (Recto) by Mesa. I love a three channel amp and the Triple has so many options. I think they are both good choices. I think the people that really screw themselves are the people buying these single channel "Botique" amps like Dr. Z-I am sure they are fantastic. I have seen some of them fo for 3000.00+ with 1 channel, NO reverb and NO effects loop. What is that??-They are an extra 500.00 + if they are RED. That makes me say NO WAY. These are the same people who want more for what they paid on the used market. Like Hendrix recorded with it?? NOT.

      @craigr777 Před 2 lety +1

      I needed to chime back in.. there is some fan noise on the TC-50 but it’s a really quiet hum.
      Still, it could present an issue with noise for recording, which may require separation of head & cab (if you’re after a super discreet sound with noise gates before verbs and delay.

    Love that you put these two against each other for a high gain shootout.
    Personally, I bought the TC because it has three channels.
    My only complaint, is one I have for just about everybody doing amp reviews.
    Do a full run-through with no pedals.
    Every single person watching knows what driving the front of an amp sounds like, they want to hear the amp, not your preferred set-up of the amp.
    Also, what is with controls at noon?
    You don't compare cars, by pushing each gas pedal down half way, and then use that as a metric for measuring performance.
    If you were testing different revisions of the same amp, that might be a relevant factor, maybe.
    Cant seem to wrap my head around what it is trying to demonstrate- especially on a Boogie, who's tone controls are notoriously unfriendly to noobs, because of their frequency shifting in relation to the gain stages, and the rest of the tone stack.
    All in all, still a pretty solid review.

    • @belligerentamateur
      @belligerentamateur  Před 2 lety +2

      The amps get played plenty wthout pedals in my videos, so I see no reason to do a full video without them, especially when my audeince is using overdrives in pretty much every scenario. I aim at my crowd, that's all. 2 separate videos would be a waste.

    • @belligerentamateur
      @belligerentamateur  Před 2 lety +3

      The point is starting with the controls at noon to see how they differ in a neutral setting. It's pretty easy to understand. I don't leave them at noon. If I did, then you'd have a reason to write what you wrote. Sounds like you know what you want and should make your own videos, I wish you luck!

    • @seanmackay6739
      @seanmackay6739 Před 2 lety

      Also going to throw out there that it’s the Mesa Mark series which really don’t play nicely with controls at noon and don’t make a fair comparison there. The Badlander and TC are both as fine to run at noon as any other setting.

All you CZcams guitarists dial your amps in sounding so bad 😂🎉😢
    Sorry he let you down again guys time to spend the extra money and get you a Diezel but keep in mind that if CZcams does a demo they will dial in a Cheap Trick rock n roll tone and disapoint you no matter what amp they demo
