    Fun and interesting video. I respect your perspective. I buy reprints (usually) instead. This way I can have the cards or sets (T206, 1915 Cracker Jack) in my collection and look at them to appreciate what they would have looked like coming out of the pack. I do have some "real" cards that are nm+ but have hard-to-see creases. And like you, cards that have bad/rounded corners but have great color/gloss otherwise. Those are usually old Hall of Famers I particularly like. I agree 'A' cards are worthwhile. I'll have to look at those. Thanks.

      i can see getting the hard to get cards as reprints as i use to do that myself. but soon realized i did not want to mix reprints with vintage, so i stopped doing that. theres tons of great low grade vintage for awesome prices!

    Just an awesome collection of cards. I enjoy listening to you share your passion for the hobby. I don’t discuss grades too much on my channel unless it is to educate or to make a point. For example, print lines on 51 Bowman football and baseball. I try not to speak in absolutes like I always want good centering, corners etc. It really depends on the card such as the look of the photo, design etc. I like that you talk about low grade being okay because it is. Especially, in vintage. Cards are going to have flaws. It comes down to what you are happy with and your budget can afford. We don’t all have to collect the same way.

    For modern (80’s - present), I collect mostly 8’s and 9’s. For the 60’s 70’s, I collect mostly 5’s-7’s. For any card before 1960, I’m happy with a 2 or 3. My strategy is buy the lowest graded card (depending on the era) that has the best eye appeal to me.

    • @geezmikey
      @geezmikey  Před rokem +1

      thats a very good strategy, i like how you break it down by decade style and the numbers for it. i dont have many modern graded cards, the ones i do have are also 8s and 9s, because theyre far cheaper than 10s lol.

    • @chrisolivo6591
      @chrisolivo6591 Před rokem

      @@geezmikeyThe GemMint grade is a scam in this hobby. I have a 1989 UD Griffey PSA 9 that I bought for $225. It’s perfectly centered and has great eye appeal. I could buy the PSA 10 for $2,000, and I honestly wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between that and my PSA 9. That’s how I save $$$ and still get a card I’m happy with.
      Now I’m a collector so this strategy works for me, if I were a seller/flipper, then the grade would be more important depending on the pop count and demand.

    I dunno about graded cards cuz its subject to one person opinion on what the card grade is. Just cuz one person at psa says the card is a 5 doesn't mean it's a 5. For all we know, the card could be a 4 or a 6. And it shouldn't matter who grades the card, the grade the card gets shouldn't change if it's in the same condition if u send it to psa or sgc or whoever. Just cuz one grading company has different ways to determine a grade that grade should always be the same. For example: 2+2 is always gonna equal 4. No matter who is doing the math 2+2=4. It doesn't change. Same way with grading cards. Unless for some reason the card condition changed like there's a new crease or a ding corner when there wasn't one before then and only then should the grade be different. People pay so much money when buying graded cards when that might not be the true grade of that card. If u sent that card to 5 different grading company and it came back the same grade then I can say that card is a 5.

    Nothing wrong in collecting low grade vintage. Low grade modern would be hard to sell unless it's a Jordan RC. As prices increase on high grade, the low grade,will follow.

      what ive noticed with low grade vintage, it always creates HIGHER LOWS! regardless, vintage is king! but we also cant stray the modern stuff either. all cards need love lol

    Any collecting hobby is always about buying the best example one can afford. I'm trying to break that mindset.

      @GeezMikey I'm going the route of the low grade cards. I am thinking of it as baseball card patina.
