Good fun! I decided to build a loop with a built in Inglenook just like your recent layouts but with Kato Unitrack. They have special sets made for the Pocket line with short turnouts (points). Granted a little expensive because of the built-in motor on the points but nice and small. It fits on a 24 inch by 14 inch board. Cheers!
Your uncoupling toll works great. I've found that sometimes I have more success pressing down rather than lifting up. Not all couplers are the same, especially with my rolling stock, which is mostly previously owned. I love your videos. Thank you!!!
But thats the exact point you make, I can see a youngster throughly enthralled for hours just learning to shunt Trains about making up scenarios in there heads of different situations, and moving Trains and Rolling stock about Its what Modelling is all about, I commend you for making these Videos to show what can be done very simply best wishes Colin.

Great video bro, one of Dad's colleagues once said he was very relaxed driving with Dad, once he had resigned himself to imminent death! But as far as I can remember he never had an accident!
Nice video as always. I've got a 2nd radius curve on my curved siding, and this helps with coupling. I've read that the Inglenook format was rare in the real world, but I've found several in old station plans in my area, especially if you count the through line as the long siding.
Another good video. I always enjoy any of your videos. Now, a question for those that abhor the "Hand of God" shunting method. Where in this world is there a railroad that un-couples their freight wagons WITHOUT a man on the ground USING HIS HANDS for the uncoupling???
I now have a track plan that I think will work. I have been stalled by the cutting and fitting if my Flexi track. Also connecting points back to back is a nightmare. 😮
I find uncoupling standard n gauge wagons far easier than standard 00 gauge. You just lift the wagon on one end and the knuckle releases, whereas for 00, it was always the "twist and lift" which means I have to relocate it back onto the track and is harder for narrow sidings with platforms. Less reliable when trying to couple because of the lighter weights, and near impossible on curves, but otherwise far easier. Is it just me?
I love shunting on my n gauge layout, the only issue I have is that the two sidings are curved, so uncoupling is a bit of a pain. Will be correcting that on the new layout. Loved the story about your dad. Mine was also a bit of a nutter in his moggie until my mum started screaming at him to calm down 😁
@@BudgetModelRailways 😂 funny thing was when my mum drove, my dad would sit sideways in the seat and ask her 'are you trying to impress me?' We just sat in the back seat giggling as he was so dry with his humour 😂

5-4-3 😏 Rules, rules. What loco will I use? What model length wagons do I have? How long is the head shunt? Answer those questions and the math becomes easy. Btw, Last night I watched the British film “North West Frontier”. It’s a great train based movie.
Track is down in the loft, but needs some work. I have a Lima diesel and a few more Wagons, it's a long term project, but thanks for asking. I will try and do a video in the next few weeks on it, although O videos are not as popular lol

Was supposed to Dremel my flex track today and got side tracked. Need to get my head around electrofrog wiring, Been decades since I wired up track.

My mum became acclimatised to it, so much so when she started to learn to drive the instructor had to keep telling her to slow down lol

Why not add an extra length of track to both sidings and the main track.....would prevent the loco stopping on points...
It was designed to fit a drawer so that is the size it is. I did learn on future layouts to make the sidings longer for that reason
