@@stumbling_ he gave her invisibility as a legendary action, it was just unlucky initiative order. Grey was first, Aila was second, so the first opportunity Grey had to turn invisible at the top of a new round was at the end of Aila's turn, so she was always visible when Aila attacked.
I do enjoy now the players' suprise when they win fights without all being near dead. And Mark's slight frustration. TBF balancing encounters at L13 is really challenging, and it's funnier when he occasionally misjudges it (like the meteor swarm). * Not meant as criticism; this is the best DnD campaign on CZcams.
It's funny I didn't expect this encounters to be too difficult. What I think frustrates me is that a tough fight for Lucius and Quill is such a breeze for the other three. I need to try and make encounters that challenge everyone else whilst giving the poor boys a break. XD
@@SherlockHulmesDM Aila is basically Thor now. It would probably make things easier if Qillek and Lucius could get a boost to their constitution scores to increase their hit points either by a respec of their ability points or from some magic items or boons granted them.
Barring that I guess all you can do is keep throwing monsters at them that can target the low strength and wisdom of Nova and low intelligence of Aila and Sentry who are also resistant to the types of damage that the martial players can dish out while not resistant the magical attacks of Lucien and Quill? Sounds difficult to keep from getting old fast.

So there seems to be a severe lack of fire resistance from non magical sources as for one Lucius can’t prismatic gauntlet it the casters can’t dispel it and the lightning resistance the melee classes have can’t resist it
Edit: actually use multiple non magical elemental damage so that they can’t really adapt with abilities
This is also the nuclear option and would be a very tedious fight
In my experience, players sometimes by being scared and misjudging a situation, act passiv and overprotectiv instead of just going for it, hitting foes and diminishing their numbers quick. That can really turn a tough but doable fight into a tough scramble for survival. As good as you can plan an encounter, you can not always plan how your players will react.

I'd like to imagine that before leaving the room at the end of the episode, Quill with his passive perception just notices a painting on the wall of Trell, Elora, Cam and JiuTou... shrugs and thinks nothing more of it.

It's also canon that the love potion they gave the githyanki and githzerai would cause a warlike hatred when it wore off. Though, if I'm reading the monster manual right, that was the case anyway. XD

Man, I know it was a bad healing roll, but that bit at ~2:28:00 really goes to show how bad 'cure wounds' is in-combat even if upcast; Quill spent a 5th level slot and an action to ultimately not help Lucius at all, as Lucius would've went down on that hit whether he was at the pre-heal 1hp or not.

It could just be the regular githyanki silver sword but its dealing force instead of psychic. Never mind its doing other cool s***. Still could be in the same ball park though, modified so mark could actually get some hits in.

From America I don't understand the elevator confusion. The ground level (entry most of the time) is 1st floor. How do you do it in UK?
They use stones to measure their weight, I wouldn't exactly call it an advanced society.
So in the uk, the floor you enter on is called the ground floor.
The next floor up is the first floor.
The next floor up is second, and so on.
Basically, we only number the floors above 'ground level' and call the entrance floor 'ground'.

I like how in some encounters they act like they can’t take on something and then when they proceeded to fuck them up they’re still like no we can’t we can’t take them on🤣 they seriously underestimate their power. Also I’ve never seen a more passive group so yes let’s take five seconds to kill the thing that will definitely come back and haunt us, no we have better things to do but it’s nice to know that they are just murder All in our way
Ok here is a theory:
Valkyrian is using Valla to power the gateway, she is a fledgling Goddess AND was created from the energy that created Aerois so she has in intrinsic connection with the world.

In the UK, we call the bottom floor the 'ground floor'. The floor above is the 1st floor. Then the floor above that is the 2nd floor. Etc.

@@thefracturedbutwhole5475 you know, it's possible someone outside or youtube flagged these users as spam. it sucks because i know for a fact that olarson likes this series so much and tends to post lots of comments to express his interest but i doubt someone from high rollers or yogscast would do something like this.
@@Heucaze You may be right, High Rollers strikes me as fairly open as long as you aren't outright attacking people you can say whatever, and I have only heard from people through comments about comments being deleted (not the most accurate or reliable source), also, deleting comments from someone who likes the show and is probably only talking how much they like the show, fan theories etc... doesn't seem right.
God knows I critique them more than I should and I don't think they have ever deleted any of my comments.

How much damage did he do? How much healing did he do?
Villains aren't braindead. Him healing Aila or Sentry is a lot more AC to hit thru for the boss than hitting him or Lucius would be.
Why has tom not been using portent for awhile
Maybe he has had bad portent rolls, rolling average (9, 10, 11) kind of sucks for portents, or more likely he forgot.
@@thefracturedbutwhole5475 but low rolls are good for enemies and that's kind of the big feature of that class.

@@Seninthekitchen Low rolls are good for portent. High rolls are good for portent. Middle rolls are bad for portent, unless you know the required target and the modifiers which generally you don't unless you hardcore metagame and/or have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the MM.

The invisibility wasn’t a spell I don’t think, he said she did it as a legendary action, I just think it was a special ability the boss had.

You can only react to something you can see.If the Mindflayer is blinded can you raise a shield spell?
Does the shield spelll specify needing to see the attack at any point?
In order to react to something you need to be aware of it.Being blind how can you see an attack coming to react to it?
@@stephenmudiecastles.2938 that's not how dnd works. The spell will state whether you need to see it.
You only get a reaction if something triggers that reaction.In this case the shield spell is triggered by an attack.If an archer shot an arrow at you how could you react to that attack if you are blind and can not see the triggering action?
