    People always expect Black women to be humble, even Black women.
    The issue is that folks feel they can dismiss or make invisible Black women’s accomplishments at any time for any reason.
    So when they advocate for themselves, folks don’t know how to take it.
    The song aged well.

    They couldn’t handle Bey standing up for herself. From a young standpoint, growing up with Beyoncé was powerful. When Bow Bown came out, I didn’t need Bey to clarify that it wasn’t to anyone specifically - you could hear it in the lyrics and feel it in the beat - someone who was done with the old chapter and was ready for something entirely new. 💓💓 will always be grateful for that track especially . 💓

There were literally no other black female artists who were able to make it as mainstream as beyonce back then and there was reason for that. I was never mad at Bey for putting out this track, sometimes you got to say something to let people know who the hell you are. If people in the industry felt offended it’s because they may have had insecurities of their own and felt there is an element of truth in Beys message.. she really and truly is a queen. It’s not just about her music, it’s her aura and how she carries herself, how she cancels out any noise and puts her energy into music gracefully.. her shift from the usual commercial sound was also a shock to me as well, but looking back at it now, I completely understand and agree with how she became more edgy. When you hit mainstream/commercial success and become at your peak in that lane.. then what’s next? She wanted more, and I don’t blame her! Her craft is meant to be something she loves and something to have fun with. This woman is well and truly a boss!

    Beyoncé was smart to include "Bow Down" on "Flawless". Self-Titled was a self-empowerment album yet vulnerable in some areas. Beyoncé stopped with the "we" and "all the women" or "Ladies" in her songs and started saying "I". That's why Self-Titled worked. This album was more personal, more experimentative, more about Beyoncé. People connected to how she was feeling on this album and that feeling of being connected to her continued with Lemonade. Her wanting to make music out of her norm is the best thing she's probably ever done. She can do whatever and we'll eat it up. She has us in the palm of her hands.

    People have to realize that Beyoncé is human. She has emotions just like everybody else and if she wants to express her anger through her music, that’s her business. Music is art. Just like a picture. Not all pictures are painted the same and not all songs should be expressed the same. You have to change it up sometimes. I have much respect for Beyoncé and her hard work she has put in over the years.

    Lol. When Beyoncé said "bow down, bitches", what made people think she was talking to just women or trying to pull other women down? I don't understand people thinking that because a woman is all for women empowerment, they can't go toe to toe with other women or they have to hold hands and sing kumbaya with other women for the rest of their life. Beesh, I said women empowerment and liberation, not women infantilism. Beyoncé can hype herself up and ask B's to bow down and give her her flowers without her being a 'hypocrite'.
    Beyoncé also said "male and female, they make no difference, I stop the world". So whatever sex you are, bow down, b*tches. Women are not the only ones that can be referred to as Bs.

    Beyonce never did anything to upset me, she's so kind hearted, minds her business, and is beautiful ❤️ when you grow up listening to every album she has come out with she's more then just your favorite singer...she's an icon, role model, and more. Her music brought me out of some dark times

      @@MemphisHottie lol so what if she cant belt like whitney houston. Neither can Janet Jackson yet she is still viewed as "iconic" for whatever reason. Rihanna was and still is a breath of fresh air. Beyonce became "queen B" at a time were there were no other black female mainstream rnb artist who were pushed and supported as much as Beyonce was. meaning she had no competition for a veryyyy long time. The moment we finally get more black female artists who make it mainstream internationally she puts out Bow Down. Rihanna was unique with her own sound and style and the fact that she is able to be so versatile yet still remain original and true to herself is why people loved her outside of america. There are a lot of GREAT SINGERS who put out boring and repetitive music.

    • @msontopoftheworld
      @msontopoftheworld Před 2 lety +1

      You're right about being psychologically healthy. But there's also nothing wrong with "falling off" either. Desperately trying to cling on to a title for too long is unhealthy...we cannot always be at the top of our game all the time. Some day Beyonce won't be up there anymore, and that's okay. It's life. The best sports players are replaced by younger and fitter ones over time. Nothing to look down on.
