    I just received mine two days ago, and I have the previous 12tb drive as well. I thought I'd share some thoughts that might answer some questions:
    1. Overall, yes, this is miles above the previous 12tb drive, for some reasons that I'll mention in a sec. I do get someone's comment that it's a bit of a headache dipping and diving around all the setups to find what you want, but compared to the general "wow" of it, it's a small frustration.
    2. And this is the main reason I gambled and got this: the possibility that it would work better. On the last 12tb drive, not only would a lot of games give error messages or not run, my biggest complaint was that Xbox 360 games, every single one, had a weird stutter to them. They'd go for a sec, slow to a crawl for a sec, go for a sec, etc. There were tons of great games that were just unplayable. After trying every remedy that the internet and CZcams had to offer, I just chalked it up to my not having a good enough graphics card (AMD Ryzen 7735) for 360 games. BUT, my friends, I'm here to tell you that Xbox 360 (the games I've tried so far, anyway) runs like butter on this bad boy. It's fantastic. Same (for the most part) for PS3, which, on the previous build, would either not run, give weird visuals because of "compiling shaders" issues, or would not give me any visuals at all, just sound. Couldn't be happier with this improvement.
    3. This is the second reason I got this one: more games in several key collections on this build. Many more, in some cases. Previous Nintendo Switch count: 62. New count: 203! Previous PS3 count: 23. New count: 172!
    4. The build just runs better overall than the last one. I'm not a huge tech-head when it comes to these, but I'm wondering if the organization, with the different front ends and section choices (like giving Teknoparrot it's own section, for instance), helps the stability. Also, one of the big problems with just having Hyperspin on the previous drive was that not everything runs smoothly or has adjustments to emulators and controls that work on Hyperspin. On this build, I've seen several cases where a game wouldn't work from one frontend, but would work perfectly from another. If you only have one frontend to work with, you might be stuck with a game that just won't play. So far, I've had very few games that just won't run. A FEW have glitches or freezes that have made them unplayable, but there are very few games so far (the new TMNT game, Shredders Revenge, is unfortunately one of these) that just won't run or gives an error message like the last drive. But, it's early in my time with it. It's Friday, and I'll give the system a more thorough look this weekend.
    5. It looks like several games, mostly PC games, that were on the last one got omitted, I guess to make room for more late-generation games for PS3 and such. As RetroGamingGuy says in the video, Playnite has 45 games, but the selection won't really blow you away. On the last build, there were some really great PC game options (I got obsessed with a Cobra Kai game), so that's a shame. Ditto if you are looking for a bunch of MS-DOS games. They're not trying to pass off a bunch of PC games as PS4 games this time, thank goodness, but it sucks that these games aren't even here at all.
    I think that covers my main impressions. I'm thrilled with this new one so far. I might do an update here after this weekend.

      Yes thank you for the info! I have been weighing them for a while..still kinda am lol. Where did you buy?
      Also I did notice major dip in original xbox titles: old had 627, this new one only 62. Did they narrow to xbox exclusive titles or do you know if the lack of games are covered on other console libraries?

    • @ccheely
      @ccheely Před 4 dny

      @@petesilvers5053 Teknoparrot has 126 games. Unfortunately the MarioKart one isn’t one of them, but I want to say it’s in another collection on this drive. I can double check and get back to you later today. So far the Switch games run great, except for Shredder’s Revenge and Mario Tennis Aces, and except for having to deal with some of them being in Japanese, and you have to google or fiddle around to figure out how to change the language.

    This section of info was very helpful, I haven't seen anyone cover one of these 12tb drives and explain really what it will take to play everything. Usually they brush over it like "it wasn't too bad to set up, shouldn't be an issue." but based on what I'm hearing it most certainly would present something of an issue for plenty of people.
    Most people that know how to obtain all these files and emulators probably won't be as interested in these devices because they could literally do it themselves, I on the other hand feel like people are talking a different language sometimes when it comes to explaining things about putting different file types and where to put them. It's been over 20 years since I last messed around with emulation and at the time it was a novelty and PS2 wasn't even 1 year old yet.
    Thank You for making these videos and being thorough with the information.
    😄👍

      Thanks for the kind words. I try to be thorough and honest with these. They have a lot of cool things but nothing is ever as easy as we'd like it to be. Lots of moving parts means lots of headaches sometimes.

      @deathsnitemaresinfullust2269 Před 9 dny

      @@RetroGamingGuy you got that right, these things are just on the verge of "too good to be true".
      I actually just received a different KinHank item today, it's the Super Console Box X3, the one that looks like a small NES with 4 USB ports where the cartridge would normally go.
      I picked it up because it's also got WiFi and an entire streaming interface on a separate card and in this case it's quite literally plug and play covering everything up to PSP for under $150.
      I haven't had a working PC in over 6 years and after hearing about the Nintendo and Sega takedowns (of ROM files) I thought it'd be smart to at least get something reliable and self contained without a bunch of moving parts to run before they start coming after all ROM sources.
      Ultimately I would like to get one of these 12tb type of drives, do you know if the sales page details what it would take to run everything on it?

    I have watched this whole video and compared this device to the previous 12TB Kinhank one and discovered that for most of the consoles, this one has a few more games than the previous 12TB drive, but for several of them, they're the same amount as this one. It looks like this one is overall better tho. I can't speak on performance of the games and malware, but it seems like this is the better overall option.

    IMO gaming is all about fun and not having a few modern systems doesn't hurt at all, nothing is lost for me at least. I honestly have more fun playing the 70's, 80's, and 90's video games, what an amazing collection. Considering just over a year ago a build of this magnitude would of easily cost over $600

      @peterstaklis3712 Před 8 dny +1

      For the PS3 God of War I would go to the directory with the emulator, load it up and then try to run the game from there. Usually when you are trying it in the emulator you will see the error messages for why it's not working. Then you can troubleshoot. Google the title of the game and the emulator and add "Not working" to the end. You may see some others that had the same issue but found a solution. Once (or hopefully) if you get it working there than I would try to load it from retrobat since that's the easiest front end to load games in in my opinion. If it doesn't work in retrobat then you know you have to change something in retrobat to get it working.

    That drive is so tempting but idk between Fortnite, Wuthering Waves, Honkai Star Rail, Tower of Fantasy, and stuff I don't have much time or energy to play games "for fun" anymore it just feels like im locked into their ecosystem trying to finish battlepasses and daily quests or limited time events and grinding for whatever else so it feels more like a chore after awhile and then my PC wouldn't be able to emulate Switch, PS3, Wii U, etc but I would absolutely love it for those gamecube and wii and before systems but I already have a lot of those from either other drive purchases or from backing up my childhood physical collection.
    I kinda care more about quality than quantity so I need to go through my collection and delete anything I don't think I will ever play on my PC but it's not really an easy thing to do when it's a large collection of random purchased drive games and I don't know what most of the games even are until I try them.

      @@petesilvers5053 ok, awesome. Thank You, will having those also cover how much ram I would need? I know the i5 is a processor and the Nvidia is a graphics card, if I make sure the PC or laptop I get has at least 16GB of ram would that be enough?
      I'm woefully unfamiliar with many PC terms and specs, Diablo 2 being 2GB was a pretty big file the last time I was actually familiar with computers and even then I wouldn't say I completely knew what I was doing.
      Still this at least seems like the two more important things I will need to make sure I have, thank you.

      I'll have to check out what he's got. KinHank has several of these out so it could be a different version. Visually they are all similar looking because their essentially just external drives you could buy on amazon only they've been prefilled by people with games.

      In each section your start button and can navigate into controller settings to map but some standalone emulators you'll have to map separately like ps2 or psp for example. Most pull over from the main mapping but not all

    What about all the games and all emulator ever made? Plus all the windows and dos Is there any system that comes with that stuff? Like windows 3.1/95/98/2000/me/xp and up I know there’s virtual box dos box/pure. I seen videos on how to put it on RetroArch but I like to know if there’s any systems out there that have them all like an all in one Where are you? Don’t have to do any work except for plugging in like these game drives. It would be nice if they had something like this for home theatre with all the movies and TV shows up to 2020. And had a program to turn your own movies and TV into your own personal tv app like iptv Plex but the thing more like Pluto on TV but for personal use

      If you go to DrewTalks channel a few months back he reviewed a 100Tb or more set of drives in a bay for sale that was pretty darn close to having everything you mentioned. Maybe not all the windows stuff since that would be near impossible because there are so many pc games from the last 3 decades. It costs way more than this one.

    I find Kinhank builds lazy, full of duplicates, and just full rom set dumping for profit. Little curation or attention to detail here. Better builds can be had for free. Just buy a harddrive and download one.

Very basic stuff for us is very difficult for some. Just being realistic for everyone. I've seen it all with questions that come in and frustrations that get aired out. It's just the reality.
