    All these trails look familiar to me. Been riding here for many decades. We are fortunate to have so many good trails near home.
    Ive seen Tom ripping trail on his road bike several times over the years. The guy is fast!

    I have two of your bikes Tom. A 1986 Timber Comp (made to my oversized frame) and a 1975 unnamed and unnumbered road bike (which we have been discussing through your fine employees) and It's crazy how well these things are made. Very inspirational story and products. Keep up the amazing work!

    "Who is this Tom Ritchey? Everything he makes is the best!" - Austrian bike shop owner to me back in 1992. I've got about 15 Ritcheys. He has really made a difference.

    Incredibly inspiring. I appreciate the Ritchey components I have even more after this video. I appreciate Tom’s humility given all he has achieved in the sport. Perhaps my favorite part is watching Mr. Ritchey weld a frame-just so satisfying.

    I still have my Ritchey mountain bike bought in 1989 at Open Air bicycles in Isla Vista, CA. All original still, probably need to true the wheels…

    This is amazing. I do not know if you remember me visiting your garage (my ankle got cut on a mitered tube sitting on a box) with Grant Handley in 1978 when you were building his track bike. At that time, you were a little discouraged with what you called at the time "offroad excursion bike" with 24" wheels. You said that you were going to try 26" wheels. I used to ride with you and Yobst Brandt on Sundays. I used to ride Keith Mowen's old (yellow) Cinelli. I was there the day we were riding up Page Mill road. You stopped and pointed to an empty lot, and said that you were planning on building your house on it.

  • @Metal-Possum
    @Metal-Possum Před rokem +2

    Tom speaks truth when he said what's inside a Cinelli isn't all that impressive. Italian made bicycles were not particularly great quality, especially if they were made after lunch. We just keep thinking they were, because that's the illusion they've maintained all these decades.

    Awesome stuff Ritchey!
    I have been on the fence about a custom steel road rig for the past several years.
    The logic’s triple butting, straight steerer, with rim brakes has topped several searches.
    I have lost interest in overpaying for rigs that don’t offer comparable detail and quality.
    Thanks for sharing. I have narrowed the list and officially moved the logic to the top!

      Don’t let that stop you. It’s more the rule than exception. I’ve been riding a Road Logic for three years. Best bike I’ve ever owned. On my fist ride, I stopped after two miles in utter disbelief at the ride quality. It glides on pavement like no other bike I’ve ever owned. I wanted a “rest of my life” frame, and I now have one.

    • @rollinrat4850
      @rollinrat4850 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I just built up a made in Taiwan Swisscross. Welds are nice and clean. Paint is clean. The bike is surprisingly light and snappy. Even rides good on rough trail.
      I got this barely used 10 year old frame set for a great price. My size, couldn't pass it up. Its a true 'ALL road' rig.
      For not much more than the price of a new one, my friend could build me a custom frame, but Id have to wait quite awhile.

    • @rollinrat4850
      @rollinrat4850 Před 2 měsíci

      That wasnt really a helmet. Old school, padded leather 'hair net'. Really old school! I think the intention was to protect from abrasion, didnt do much for impacts. They were more practical for track racing.
      You'd see racers using them until the early 90s I seem to remember.

    Love ya dude. I have been buying Ritchey products since the 80s. Your mark on the mountain biking industry is unparalleled. BUT I can't buy your products any more. I have a 2015 P-29 that the frame broke out of warranty, and the best your company could offer me is a new frame a full price. Shameful.

    Tom Ritchey needs a movie! Brad Pitt can play the lead……my Ritchey Logic is amazing! STEEL IS REAL. It’s as light as my newer Cervelo carbon bike, but much faster! Not bad for #424. By the way I paid $18 for it at a garage sale! It was ready to ride at that time!

    Tom, great advice, I was similar as a kid, though motorcycles, then went on to design and make my own motorcycle and bike parts, you have to build what you can't get
