Absolutely brilliant!!!
Great tips. Especially going barefoot I have an ottb and people think I'm mad for aiming at going barefoot ( currently down to front shoes on) only been out of training a couple of months
Thank you! Let me now how you get on, there’s always an adjustment period and you’re bound to have an abscess or two along the way but it’s so worth preserving. Their hooves just thrive. I’d definitely recommend getting some hoof boots though 🤞🏼 good luck 💕
Thanks for this
You are welcome!
What a great vlog. It really does only take a few changes to save a few pounds and all Yr tips were so good. Well done for passing it on. Makes me wish I still had my pony so I could try and do them 😆
Thank you Heather!! Exactly, it’s surprising how much money you can save from a few small changes. 💕
Loved this! I am currently trying to add any extra spare pennies to a savings account for 'next winter' so i can hopefully get my bedding bought in bulk etc
I’m so glad! That’s a good idea, start saving early on. I should probably do the same!! 💕
Wait so billy is barefoot even with his hoof surgery? My horse has coffin bone arthritis but he is retired from hard use. I really want to take off his special bar shoes.
Yes he’s barefoot! After the surgery he had special shoes on for 2/3 months but he’s barefoot again now with no problems.
Vets always recommend shoes and barefoot specialists will always recommend barefoot, there’s no harm in trying both and seeing how he does. According to my old vet Billy should have been in bar shoes with wedges for the last 6 years because of his navicular, but he’s never been lame since and is doing much better barefoot.
I’d recommend getting in touch with a good barefoot trimmer and having a consultation, then you can make the decision if you’re happy to try it or not. 💕
