  • I just felt like doing a video showing the Bark River Knives Kitsune, since we're getting close to the release of the second run of it, after more than four years of waiting ... Get yours at DLT Trading in the near future!

Production quality of this video is top notch! Very well done. You did a nice job of displaying this knife. I'm looking forward to the Tengu 3V version and placed a pre-order for it. I certainly hope I don't have to wait as long as you.

Thank you, Chris! Like I mentioned in the video, this video was super spontaneous. My problem lately is that I think too much about which videos to make, how to organize them etc. and end up recording nothing at all. Sometimes it's better to just go with your feeling and record something and publish it. I want perfect photos taken and this and that and what not. I should just focus on getting stuff out the door, heh! But I'm happy with the new "studio", it makes a lot of my work much easier than before. And like I replied to Dean here in the comment section; the Tengu is going to be a real monster. I've no real idea when it's going to be released though - but def. in less than four years, lol!

Many thanks Fredrik for creating this video! It is not easy to make such a successful hymn to this special knife from Bark River. You did it perfectly! B. Akinakes :-))

Thank you, my friend! I felt I had to make some kind of video, a bit of a tribute and/or hype-video for this long (and I mean looooooong) awaited release. That has yet to be released, heh. But soon! :D

    Thank you for the video.
Please upload more frequently. Your natural presentation style is great! I have looked at the other comments here - don't overthink it, just show us your collection and enjoy it.
Oh, and please dont buy all the Maxace knives when Lamnia get their next shipment in! Thank you!! 🤣

Thank you for those encouraging words! I guess the combination of having less time than usual to make videos, more knives and axes than usual to show, and also the ever-present feeling that my English skills are lacking, messes things up. But like you said, it's probably best to just go with the flow, make some videos and show the knives to the best of my ability as well as giving some honest opinions about them. I'm glad I'm not getting stuff for free or doing paid work, that would be stressfull. Looking at the amounts I spend on these knives and axes can be stressfull too, though. ;) And I promise to not buy all the upcoming knives from Maxace. I'm a bit confused why I haven't seen the Manticore, black coated timascus Titanis and some other models at Lamnia. I do know for a fact they were on order. Right now, the Maxace Orion is on my radar. That's one I'll def. pick up. I hope they'll release a fancier version of it later at some point. Oh, and the Hela may be a bit too over the top even for me. Even though it's kind of cool, heh!

@@PinkG10 My friend, I don't think your "English skills are lacking"! If it would be, mine would be a good deal more lacking! 😒 In all your CZcams videos and your contributions in the Bark River FB groups it is very clear and straight what you want to express.
Your passion and your talent to make videos and photos give us joy and good participation.
Therefore: please more knife photos and videos from you!

Thankyou for another great review. I also have an order in for the Tengu. Always enjoy your reviews and honesty.

Thank you, Dean. I guess this is more of an overview than an actual review. I also just realized that I haven't really made a real review of the Kitsune yet. I think I'll make a more in-depth review when I get my second run Kitsunes, and then I can also compare them to the first production runs. The Tengu is going to be a real monster! I wonder when we'll see it, though ... Once again, thank you for dropping by and leaving a comment!

I prefer to buy Western knives from Western makers, and Japanese knives from Japanese makers. I find when they try to cross over (either way) the results are usually just.... off in some way.

I get what you're saying, and it would seem only logical/rational to agree with your statement, i.e that Japanese makers should focus on Japanese designs only and western knife makers on western designs - doing what they (should) know/do best. But I can't stand behind that to 100%, given my personal experience. Sure, there're designs that can look and/or feel off, but there're also examples when it's in fact the complete opposite. Still, I fully understand what you're saying and where you're coming from.

@@PinkG10 yeah it's a difficult thing to pull off - sometimes they do. Some of the Mcusta folders weren't too bad.

I'd encourage you to look at Murray Carter and his knives and history

I agree with that statement when it comes to forging and what steels they use and the process of making the knives. A western blade smith trying to replicate Japanese forging never works well. Where this differs in my opinion is it’s a western knife maker using western materials and blade steel and all they did was use a Japanese “style” design for its functionality
