So glad I saw this on my related videos list!! Was literally watching a comparison video between Ring's two floodlight cameras to decide which to buy, and your video totally sold me on the Eufy!!
Great content and style of presentation. Thank you! I've been contemplating adding this to my other Eufy devices. I loved your "IBM, 2001 Space Odyssey" reference! I'm looking forward to seeing more content from.
Bought it and works great. Starting to really like the eufy products.
Really ? I own 2 and the motions detection outdoors at night is very slow and also very short range.
During the day it works good though. But Nightline recording is when bad things happen
Iesssge eufy and they said the only fix for this is to set to all motion and not smart human detection.
I tried that and that's terrible because it picks up everything, even snow or leaves lol
Also the app does not always update all the recordings. It skips a few . But most go through
The lights work great and really bright
@@blockchainshark1392 Do you own Ring cameras to compare the Eufy to?
How do you like Eufy a year later? I am trying out the Solar Cam 220 and see how it goes before I think about replacing Ring.
Thanks for the information and excellent video , I was ready to order the Ring but saw this video and I am definitely purchasing Eufy outdoor flood light cam now 😁😁
Great review 👌
Many thanks
Really good review compared to other quick and simple
This video was so thorough that it made me subscribe to his channel
Thanks!!!
ordered! good review.
Awsome! Enjoy!
Awesome YUFFIE (rhymes w stuffy! Phonics-single vowel followed by double consonants). We will be installing 2!!
Really awesome video, thanks do much for this!
Glad you liked it!
Great review!
Excellent product... and thanks for reviewing it and showing us....
But, can you use the USB to power it permanently?
thanks
Good review, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice review, thanks! One question: do you know how secure the wifi connection of the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro with the wifi router is?
As always, very well explained. Question: can you turn sirens manually on this Eufy?
0:15. Even the crickets anticipated the joke..... 4:34. "Open the Pod bay doors, please, HAL."
great video!
Hi there. Just saw your review of the Eufy ptz security camera today Oct 2022. Thankyou for making up my mind. Hope it will work well for myself. In answer to your question about where you got the name HAL from, I'm guessing from the film 2001 a space Odyssey?
Regards David from Perth West Australia
Looks good! I'm looking for some kind of ptz that has to record close to the wall it's mounted to in 90 degrees. It seems it can.. I was curious about the quality at night and the distance of how far you still can see what's going on.
It’s hard for me to say, since it’s in my side yard, but it can see the 75ft down my side yard at night no problem.
Can this be set on a light switch to turn the lights on for general lighting?
I have a floodlight over my garage and I'd like to replace that light with the Cam 2 Pro. I' think I've read of other floodlight cameras that use the switch in 2 modes - leave it on for auto monitoring or turn it on/off/on quickly (or vice-versa) for manual override mode.
I would like to know this too as I would want to place it where my current flood lights are located.
Thanks for the video. Quick question this, can you power this with the USB or does one need to pull in wires / junction box for this?
If the latter, does it needs its own dedicated wires for this or can i hook it onto an existing line that has my garage dawn to dusk lights on them as well? Thanks
I haven’t tried powering it from the USB, my understanding is the USB won’t power the lights though. It doesn’t need a dedicated circuit though, just content power so as long as your other line is constant you’ll be fine.
I'm most interested in is the 24/7 constant reporting.
this camera dosent record 24/7 =//
Great video, thanks. Do I understand correctly that it requires constant power (obviously) so if my current simple floodlights are operated by a wall switch, then I’d need to remove the switch and make it a permanent wiring? Then the only way to switch the lights on and off will be via app?.. That sounds quite a bit inconvenient..
Yes, it needs constant power. But in your case; you’d simply need to install a light switch cover. That would eliminate the possibility of anyone accidentally turning the light switch off. $5 fix.
I thought you said in the video you would add a link to a complete video of how to put in one of the 360s
How is this during the harsh winter months and hot summer days?
Can you set *both* ambient and motion light active? In other words, have ambient from sunset to sunrise at 10% brightness, then kick in automatically to 50% when motion is detected, and then revert automatically back to 10% when no more motion?
Yes, you can. That’s exactly how I have it set up in my side yard.
hi thanks for the video with the cable you use to sinc it up with if I got one long enough could I power it from the inside of my flat or does it only work hard wired thank you for your time
I haven't tried it, but I don't think USB would provide enough power to run the entire thing.
So I noticed on the phone screen when you had it on the video that there was a dust to dawn option for the lights, but you didn’t say anything about it in the video is that possible on this floodlight cam?
What about 2 way audio? Siren?
Great video with a lot of good information to help me make a decision due to recent events at my own house. I think I just missed the discount code, is there another or some other way I can get something off of the high ticket price?Again love the item and the informative video I will be looking forward to more, thanks Rob

This was great! I used the coupon and the camera with lights is great. Now looking to buy another, thank you again
My question to how to get the 3 Eufy Cam 2 Pro cameras to connect to WiFi. I'm having challenges getting the Eufy cameras to connect to my Netgear router. Wondering if I need to get a WiFi mesh system to 'bounce' the WiFi closer to these devices ? I live in a concrete/cinder block home (Florida).
I know these are to be installed where a light exists, but wonder if it can be wired directly to an inside outlet box? To where it has constant power. Because I know my kids would turn off the porch light switch without thinking about it.
By the way HAL9000 From 2001 a space Odyssey. I use Robby the robot on some of my items,
So what if you have this on an overhead eve or whatever, and it's night time. Say someone walks behind the unit in an area where the lights are not shining; are they still being captured with night vision since the light isnt hitting them?
Yes, it has a 360° motion sensor that will spin the camera around. The lights are also aimable to give you more coverage. It does have night vision as well, so if the person isn’t completely illuminated it still will record quality video..
Not sure if I missed this, but does it offer continuous recording? If so, what’s the memory options?
It doesn’t have continuous recording, it only records when it senses motion. You can set the clipper length up to two minutes, if motion continues past two minutes it records a new two minute clip. You can also set it up to start recording when it senses motion and not stop until it’s reached the maximum amount of time for that clip.
I have an ADT security system and currently already have cameras however I would love this one for the Floodlight, it’s exactly what I’m looking for and more. Do I need to cancel my ADT to use it or can I use them simultaneously?
I would like to know this as well.
You would be able to use them simultaneously, this camera just wanna interact with your ADT system
@@DoItYourselfDad Thank you
I have one of these for a couple of months.
1) I have two issues, one is weak wifi signal receiver. I have to keep wifi router on inside of wall next to where light is mounted. Any farther away and it looses signal. I have other wifi equipment that accesses the same router which are farther away but have no problems.
2) Setting camera positions for "Auto-Cruise" feature is unreliable. Two separate times I have set the four positions and then tried to define activity zones for each position. One time the camera only allowed access to one of the four positions, the second time I could access three of the four. After setting the four positions, the thumbnail image of the positions are sometimes blank, even though there is a position set for all. Another time after setting the positions, when I went back into looking at the Auto-cruise definition, some of the position definitions were changed. It has some picture and setting for three of the positions.
Eufy is aware of these issues but have not been able to resolve them yet.
I honestly don't see the use of the Auto-Cruise feature even with different positions set so I disabled it...
Good coverage of the features. But to be expected for a product advertisement. Not a negative in sight!
lol....
Questions:
1. Does it record to the cloud or where?
2. Can I manually view the camera or do I have to wait for motion?
3. If power goes out or if wifi goes out will the camera automatically reconnect once the power or wifi comes back on?
4. Is there ANY reason anyone would have to take the camera down and rest anything at all?
I am looking for a no fuss camera to replace my Arlo cameras that require me to get on a tall ladder to replace batteries or to reset the wifi connection when power or wifi is off momentarily and turns back on. I fell from the ladder once doing this. I don't want to risk falling again.
This camera has local storage, but you can also set it up for cloud storage if you’d like. You can go through the app and manually view the camera, you don’t have to wait for motion. If the power goes out it will automatically reconnect, it happens a lot here. There really shouldn’t be any reason You would ever have to pull it down, if for some reason you didn’t have to access the sink button that you could get to it without removing the camera from the side of the house. Another nice option is the S 40 camera by the same company, I should have a video out for them this Friday, it isn’t a pan and camera, but it is solar powered and has a spotlight. Nice little set up.
I have two of these cams set up
1. It has local storage, about 17 GB I believe
2. Yes you have full control, you can tune in, move the camera with an onscreen joy stick, speak through the camera, turn the light on and off, turn the siren on or off, turn the night vision on or off and manually record or take photos of whatever is happening. (it also allows you to share or save recorded videos easily to your phone)
3. It does reconect automatically with out any steps required other than storing power
4. No reasons other than if it become faulty or you're moving house/camera location.
I want to set this floodlight camera up in my back yard where my kids hang out and play sometimes. Will I be able to control the floodlights manually to leave them on continuously if I need to, or do they only come on in dusk to dawn mode and whenever motion is detected?
Yes, you can. I have mine on low from dust till dawn, but if Im working in the sideward I can go into the app and turn the lights up and leave them on if needed.
Do you suggest buying an extended warranty for this product? Seems like their product website doesn’t offer that?
I honestly wouldn’t bother, everything that I bought from Eufy has held up really well. If you are concerned about extended warranties though check out what your credit card provider offers. A lot of credit card companies have warranty extension is buried in their contracts that a lot of people don’t know about.
Great review. I might've missed it, but is there a monthly fee for storage like with ring?
No
No fee's for anything, one of the best parts of the Eufy lineup.
It seems all Eufy security cams record to the cam or the base station depending on the product. Some use a SD card and some have an EMMC storage which all, I believe, are secured with 256 bit encryption, so only you with your login info can access your videos.. according to Eufy... that is what has piqued my interest in this brand of security cams. Check out their website, all info is there.
@@Dez425 I am on the fence Between Eufy and Ring I have heard that if Eufy server goes down then you are unable to use the system. with your login info.
My understanding is you’ll have the same issue with Ring.
I'm a little unclear on the local storage. I understand about live view which you were showing in your video. However, to review previous record video, is the video stored on an SD card in the camera or does the video go directly to a phone or computer. If the video goes to an SD card in the camera do you have to take an SD card out of the camera and then insert it into your computer to view the video, our can you access the SD card from your phone of computer ?
You access all the footage remotely through your phone.
@@DoItYourselfDad Thanks for the reply. But my question is where is the footage ? When accessing the footage through your phone are you accessing your computer or the actual camera ?
You are accessing the actual camera.
I just bought one and before I install I have a question if you're able to answer. I need to place the Eufy under an eave right next to a bathroom window which we keep uncovered. Will the activity zone selection allow you to prevent the camera and floodlight from activating every time someone goes to the bathroom?!
You can setup detection zones and exclusion zones, so you can make sure the bathroom window isn't included in the detection area. I have some of their cameras setup the same way in my back yard so it doesn't alert us when we are walking by windows in the house.
@@DoItYourselfDad Thanks!
How much can the local storage store? Thanks
Ok, it is very cool camera, from what I see from the video however I see at least 2 or 3 major problems with it.
1. Price ( it is not major problems, at least not yet. )
2. What happens when second person shows up on other side, what if firs one only decoy?
3. If you or your dog running on back yard or cars passing by, I guarantee this cam will be dead in two months from all the motions it doing not talking normal failure rate all devices have. (And it is when cost becomes an issue).
So in my estimation tree separate cams will serve you better even one dies you still have back up of two.
No answers ?
Hello. From what I read regarding the specs of this system it operates on 120-240VAC. However I’ve seen some advertisements state it’s 120VAC. So please tell me what your system has stamped on it. Thank you in advance.
It’s actually installed at a relatives house now, but I’ll see if I can get that info for you.
I just got mine... do you worry mounting it on the wall that birds will try and make a nest up there?
Hadn’t thought about that, but it would be a good spot for them. You could put some bird spikes up there if it’s an issue.
How does it handle opposite sensors triggering like if two persons approaching from opposite sides?
Good question
@@johnred3003 Is it a good question? Are you monitoring the great wall or something? Do you have a problem of gangs of thugs breaking in on a regular basis? If you are really worried about getting perfect recording of multiple intruders, no one-camera setup for a large area can possibly satisfy your needs and not sure why you'd be interested in this one.
Can you have multiple devices control a camera? for example mine and a spouses phone too
Yes, you can. You can run the app on multiple devices using the same login, or you can have separate logins and share devices between accounts.
Great info so how high up can this cam2 be installed at every video shows it set so low for demo any idea how high up on roof line can it be set up???
You can really Set this thing up as high as you want, the issue is if you set it up to high all you’ll be looking at is the tops of peoples heads which won’t help if you’re using it as a security camera
@@DoItYourselfDad Thanks I found on the web site from Eufy that 9 ft to 12 ft fax so I did mine at 10.5 ft great field of view
Why doesnt Eufy support desktop app for Mac? Phone app is fine when I am on the road, but I want to be able to view on a large screen on Mac when I am home, especially with multiple cameras.
2001 a space odyssey. Hal was the rogue computer
like the Tabasco shirt. lol
Can this be plugged in? or does it have to be wired? I do not have an existing floodlight to wire it. thanks
This has to be hardwired in, you can’t power it via USB.
One thing that you’re missing from this video is showing the video playback. Is it very annoying like Feit Electric or is it smoother with those video bubbles & filters like Ring?
Did you warehouse the video? I show playback at 7 minutes….
What is the cost and where do I purchase it? Thank you for explaining how the camera works.
Thanks! I have a link to the camera in the videos description you can check out.
It's available at best buy also
does this require 110v 24x7 to work or does it have a built in battery to run during the daytime?
Yes, this one needs constant power. They do have a couple other models that are battery operated, they just don’t come with the floodlights. I’ve got a few videos on those on my channel if you want to check them out
@@DoItYourselfDad thanks. does it connect to an existing HomeBase for video storage or is it self-contained?
Self contained.
Hi, I own homebase3. Does this camera connect to homebase? Does it have a siren? thanks
Yes, I have it connected to my HB3 and to the HB2 before that, and yes, these cameras do come with a siren.
Warning on this spot light....It must be installed no higher than 9' above the ground. Other than that it is the best device I have purchased for security. In my case my electrical is located in the soffit of my second story home so it worked perfectly for a few months then it stops working at night.
Why can't it be installed higher than 9'?
@@jim52356 it actually is called out in the instructions but no where in the marketing materials. I bought one and installed it on my soffit of my two story home. It was fantastic and performed better than my expectations, until it didn’t. It lasted about 6 months when I noticed it was no longer working at night, neither the flood light or the camera. Customer service was outstanding. They tried several settings but no luck so they sent a new one to me at no charge with prepaid return box for the non functional one. The new one again exceeded my expectations but again quit working at night after about five months. Customer service was great again but after asking me to send photos of the installation they said I had it mounted too high and I needed to get it down to about 9’ above the ground. Too bad so sad my problem. Fortunately I bought it from Amazon as after several emails they picked it up and refunded my purchase.
I don't see the video link for how to do wiring for this, can you please provide it
Here ya go: czcams.com/video/8-vnVxVSJfs/video.html
Can multiple users view the video image at the same time?
Yes, we have all of the eufy cameras setup on multiple devices.
So this is hard wired. I like my others because they are battery. No we don't have to take them down to charge as we power them solar. Charging hasn't been a problem and I don't expect it will be over winter. We have tons of smoke filling the valley from California's fires that make the days seem like evening and the cameras still charge. Our flood lights are strictly solar, 2000 lumins so when power might be out those flood lights still work. We live in Oregon and are under constant threat of power outages due to possible brown/blackouts. We have 12 of those solar flood lights.
So to my question, is there a battery that will keep the flood lighting on this working if we have loss of power or are they just off?
No, these ones are powered only, Stay tuned, I have the solo E 40s from eufy coming in this week which are solar powered and have a flood light. I should have a video up for those soon.

Yes, these store all of your video locally. There are no fees with these cameras.
Just ordered one and discovered it doesnt have a microsd slot AND doesnt record 247..only motion triggered events. WTF. Now i am considering to return it. 😡. How the hell can you sell it for $300 but not let you save footage on an sd card or record 247?
Why would you want to record when nothing is going on?
@@DoItYourselfDad Because there has been car accidents happening outside of my detection zone with another cam i've been using. So i want to be able to record stuff in the middle of the streets too but not as a triggered event. I want to be able to rewind and watch how it all started. What if people are walking from multiple directions.
You're going to have the same problem with stationary cameras. In that case, I'd cover the area with multiple cameras.
@@DoItYourselfDad This camera appears to have a rather narrow field of view but a camera that has 180⁰ or more will likely be better for people walking in both directions in a backyard.

Apparently.... though you only ever use the port once.
I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that.
Bingo!
they call it a 360 degree camera but the way it is mounted makes it lose a lot of it usefulness. I have this camera mounted to a telephone pole and probably 100 degrees is just viewing the wood pole. There's got to be a way to mount the camera where it actually offers 360 degree unobstructed view!? Also, you MUST mount these high enough that an intruder cant spray paint the camera, put duct tape over the lense or rip the whole thing off the wall.
The way these are designed you can also mount it to a horizontal surface giving you a 360 view
I would to see one mounted horizontally allowing for 360 degree viewing. The mounting surface would have to come down from above somehow and then the camera mounts to the underside of it. Unless you can mount it upside down on the top of a 4x4 post. I dont know if thats a feature of the camera. They way most people mount this is like you did and that way loses 180 degrees of the 360 degree viewing capability. Also, if a thief can reach the camera, they can cover it, rip it off the wall or even cut the wire. The thief that stole my truck last year walked behind my cameras and put duct tape over them. @@DoItYourselfDad
