I've played drums since 1994, and my old drum teacher always said, you can have your favourite brand, but yamaha is always 2nd... and at first I thought it was an insult... but after having played various yamaha kits over the years, he meant they were consistent. They sound great, and are super reliable! What more can you ask for at the end of the day really?
I just bought my first Yamaha kit this year and LOVE IT!
Hi Jack! That’s my old drum kit. Great to see they’re in good hands
I'm very close to picking this kit up. I've not heard a bad video of them yet.....super pure tone. That 8" sounds as deep as my current 10". From my research, it's next to impossible to get a 5pc kit for the price of these today approx $4300 (unless you're buying used...and you can't find a used set of these anywhere in the states). I would probably have gotten a Gretsch if money didn't matter, but these are right there with them. Such a pure tone to them. Thanks for the demo...this was really well done.
Awesome kit mate. It’s a proper beast with all those toms. Really enjoyed this review cos you got properly stuck in to playing and then explained the highlights. I will also miss Drummers Only Leeds. Really cool drummer hangout. 🥁🥁🥁🥁
Cheers man, i do love me a 3 up, 2 down setup, they’re always so much fun! DO Leeds will definitely be missed, they had a cracking setup going on, hopefully it won’t be long before something else pops up. Thanks for the kind words on the video too dude! Really appreciate it👊
Man they sound great! Really like how you have em tuned. I took mine out after 10 years, or so. I agree, easy to tune in, and inspiring
Cheers dude!! Glad you enjoyed the video👊
What a kit!!!!! Enjoy!!!
Thanks dude! I’m loving it so far👍
Hi Jack, It's a fantastic set, congrat.
I have the same kit with different sizes: 8x7, 10x8, 12x9, 14x13, 16x15, 22x18.
Just some questions: how did you tune it? (notes/frequencies)
You are using EAD10 in this video, right? Which scene (rev, effect, etc,)?
Thx in advance for your replies.
Greeting from Italy
Francesco
Hi Francesco, thanks for checking out the video and for your kind words,
It’s a great set! So firstly, for tuning, unless recording in the studio, I don’t tend to bother with frequencies but I just tune by ear as to what I’m wanting at the time but for studio, I will tune more precisely for accuracy on the record.
And yes I was recording with the EAD10 and wasn’t using anything effects! Raw audio from the mic.
Hope this helps!! 🥁
Hard kit to find. You lucky bastard
Haha cheers man! Blessed to have it👊
Why the snare is not the hybrid maple? Is it not included when purchased?
The hybrid maple snare wasn’t included when I purchased the kit so I’m using my favourite snare - VK 14x6.5 raw copper, I love it! You can find a detailed demo/review of that on my channel if interested😎
Why no boxes, no cases......!!??
Stunning kit! Only thing I don't like is sound of Yamaha EAD10, bass drum sounds too much unnatural for my taste.
Thanks man! It’s a proper beauty.
That’s fair, I’ve heard a few people say that, think because it’s triggered it can sound a bit too processed for some stuff so totally get what you mean, still though for recording social media content it’s a cracking tool, a great practise utensil aswell. Thanks for checking out the video too mate!👊
I wish i had those with some pinstripes!
That would sound ace!
20 inch all the way. I’ll never go back to 22
20” kicks are so sick! Definitely a different vibe to a 22.
No Yamaha snare ? No good 😉
