One thing you missed out on the Parisian catacombes map is that after the bells ring, Jean and his team come back to operate the cannons in the back, which makes the scene all the more epic
Just goes to show how many little details can enchance the expirience

NOCK GUN TIP: Holding the fire button after reloading a barrel will allow you to cancel the reload and fire the amount of loaded barrels in your gun saving you time incase of a incoming "special" zombie
Or you can just load the first 2 for more quick shots
You still have to load all the powder again ;-;

The thing I do agree with you on is the naming convention for the server browser. At first I thought it was a decent system (since it used Roblox's built-in Job Id's to sort the names). However, it's clear that it needs some retouching.
The lighting, as far as I know, was intentional. But that's for Soviet (builderman/vvizardman) to say for himself, and not me.
Also, that Dead Island reference at the beginning was peak cinema. Amazing.

6:26 No, if there are multiple musicians, you should spread out so everyone gets the buffs! Also fife gives a reload speed buff, drum gives a melee speed buff but you have to do a little timing minigame thing, and the bugle gives a dmg buff but you have to kill a lot of zombies to fill up the meter.
8:42 Another thing, infection is built up through getting hurt by zombies; if you get hit normally you get a very small amount, if two shamblers grab you it starts going up with the how much dmg you take. A cool detail is that with the more infection you have, the more grey your skin becomes (currently this is a little bugged). The infection goes away very slowly, but if you get around half-way, you turn on death and the infection only goes up. And if you get fully infected, you only have ~1 minute left before you transform. Also (you can see this throughout the video) you can how infected you are based on; how orange your screen is, how much static-like gray stuff, and how many voices are there telling you to cannibalize your friends 😃.

Thanks for covering this game, I've been a big fan of it for a long time, it's so great to see how far it's come in only about 10 months of being up on the platform. And to anyone else reading this, go play the game! It's really easy to pick up and all the badges (besides soldier's grace and Soldats de ma Vieille Garde) aren't very grindy, and are pretty funny too. Also the game has vc servers, which if you have roblox vc, you should play in them, they're pretty hilarious.

Im really glad skit coved guts in black powder, i have all the badges (except for soldat and priest due to the long time it takes). All classes have roles the others cant really fill, and the map are really distinct. I also like the zombie variety and the attention to detail with the musicians playing wrong notes, and the flavor text and lore all around the maps.
Priest is easy, just main surgeon, and you will save enough players in that time to unlock it. But, Soldat is very hard, I agree with you there.

The officer's pistol is actually a pretty good gun. Sure, it cant shoot as many in 1 shot as other guns can, but it has the unique ability of retaining your walk speed when reloading while reloading other guns make you slow down. This is handy for handling hordes more safely.
It's kind of an on the fly gun. It's right there almost everytime you need it, but it doesn't always get the job done
In exchange of some versatility for damage
Sea Boi is slow and cumbersome but has r e a l l y strong guns
Line is a bit more flexible (speed or bayonet) but his guns don't vaporize hordes
carbine has a small effect on your walk speed, when aiming or reloading, and it does more damage, thats why i like it so much

The "cannon" reason (dev comment) is that the bombers are to "stupid" to recognize the crucifix.

There is nothing more intense than waiting for Jacob to arrive to blow up the gate on Leipzig while waiting to be infected. Watching friends die around you, and then running to the exit alone. Just to live and become the only survivor. Nice review skit.

Man, I love this game. The first time I played it, it was still in very early stages in development and only had one map. This is one of the few games in Roblox that I still find enjoyable to play and I'm glad it's starting to get more traction.
absolutely amazing video, you pull off what most roblox youtubers dont have: A solid script. Most roblox video scripts feel shaky, unprofessional, or focus on certain details too little or too much. You perfectly wrote the script and highlighted every important aspect of the game in an entertaining and well edited manor, Incredible work. Also the animated intro was awesome aswell.

Whenever me and my friends see a barrel zombie, we always yell "Arab ahead! Get the guns!"
The sound design for Vardohous fortress is badass, too. You’re stuck in the middle of a blizzard in an island south of the arctic. You have to dig you and your men out of the house complex and fend off the hordes of zombies overflowing over the trench like an endless stream as your teammates dig you toward the church and the lighthouse. Your situation is practically hopeless, your only shot is too reveal yourself to the hordes of infected to risk a ship seeing you and saving your lives. You fight off the hordes of hell on a lonesome, wood pier as the music is drowned out by the groans of the dead, the screams of the dying, the crack of cannons and flintlock firearms and occasionally rising through the chaos of battle with an epic and graceful symphony to contrast the brutal savagery of the current situation with more lights emerging from the snow and horde as bombers start coming closer and closer. As more bombers slip between your teammates fire, pushing your men down the pier. With your backs almost to the water and the dead failing to cease their assault, it seems that all is lost. Then, like a phantom, the royal navy emerges from the storm. What was once hopeless desperation is replaced with resolve and determination, as your men pile into the ship and man the guns, firing into the thickening hordes of the dead. Finally, the ship departs and you are left with the exhaustion of battle and the unforgiving cold of the Norwegian north.

Vardhous is my second favorite as far as final act atmosphere goes, the only reason Catacombs beats it is because of the lightning and pouring rain
@@SkitGamingI like Vardohous because of the unique nations and the snowy and bleak backdrop, but I love the ghostly figure of Notre Dame and the dark streets of Paris. It’s only my least favorite because the catacombs sequence is kinda boring. I do like to think about what’s going through Jean and the protagonists mind before the attack. “l'empereur nous a abandonnés aux cannibales, nous a laissé mourir. Seule une poignée de parisiens restent purs. La France est tombée, tout ce que nous pouvons faire, c’est donner à ceux qui restent un moyen de fuir les rues de l’enfer.” (English: the emperor abandoned us to the cannibals, left us to die. Only a handful of Parisians remain pure. France has fallen, all we can do is give those who remain a way to escape the streets of hell.)
Your team just finished escaping the French catacombs. Then stumble upon some military fortifications, and are told to stick around to defend; as we evacuate some civillians. If you do, we'll give yall a boat out of the city
Really makes you wonder who's idea it was to HIDE IN THE CATACOMBS during a zombie plague. There are several recently deceased bodies down there.

Something you forgot to touch on is the hardcore mode of the game.
Not only does it encourage much more teamwork, but it stops coddling you like normal mode. Runners can kill you in under 3 seconds, and barrels are much more of a threat as you can't just have some Dead-Eye McGuire officer pop them a mile away. If you feel the game's getting monotonous, play hardcore. It will make you appreciate the support classes MUCH more trust me.
I just noticed how all of the zombies chasing the guy in the intro are people that you see alive a few seconds earlier.

This is by far the best review on this game i've ever seen.
Seeing a VanossGaming clip in a video like this is surprising but pretty cool, it's proof that the group is still widely known atleast.

Remember that officer charge also saves your teammates from grabs!
They'll exit grabbed state in a officer charge for shamblers, won't work on runners though

When i play officer i wait for a big horde with multiple bombers to form before activating charge ability. After that i stay back and watch as my teammates explode and fly away into the sky
I've been playing Guts & Blackpowder for months now and It's a hella good gameplay, slicing zombies making me feel the main character and I enjoy the amount of content it has to offer. Overall good but my teammates just wont cooperate sometimes and make me rage quit

You should check out Centaura next, it is a very chaotic trench warfare game that is also the prequel to Dead Ahead, it has some lore (and some of it is pretty messed up if you dig deep enough). Also, great video.

heya matie I'm happy you liked the game but one thing I would like to mention is yea the lighting in guts and blackpowder sucks alot but I don't really see alot of ways where they could fix that sense roblox's lighting system is alright.. but hey at least you can get a lantern now after defeating the headless horseman boss so that's a plus :)

The best thing is that most of the issues that got brought up have actually been improved upon in recent updates. The server browser has been updated and made much better, and things have been balanced etc.

I was one of the first people playing this game, it has about 20 players, now im very happy that this game get so popular
Back when Hougoumont was the only map, bombers couldn't damage barricades, so we would usually crowd into one room and just constantly repair the barricades while our teammates killed zombies, I made it to wave 87 before my electricity conveniently decided it didn't want to live anymore

When I first played this game it was basically on the endless maps and quite literally a COD zombies copy (this was about a year ago I think). Now watching this review though, the game seems a lot more fun and appealing, and making me want to try it out soon.

I discovered this game when it averaged about 10 players online and fell into it, it is awesome
There was this one time where my entire team went all sapppers first, then all officers, and then all musicians, but not all of them but majority of them
You forgot to mention that if Musician uses different instrument then it applies different buff. Fife/Pipe has reload speed, Drum swing speed and Bugle damage buff. Some classes can also use Hand Axes that deals more damage than Sabre but has slower swing speed(All musicians attract runners). Chaplains crucifix cant be used on Crawler aswell(private server only zombie atm). Igniter doesnt burn to his own or other fire. You can buy grenades to kill hordes but its very hard to throw them, you can use waterbucket to extinguish fire from igniter and lastly you can use lamp from event to make light in dark places allowing your team and you to see. Otherwise well made video especially with Bomber being terrorists which i mentioned and i loved surgeon part.

oh yeah fun fact about Catacombs De Paris, during 1812 Overture, when the cannons fire in the song, the cannons across the bridge actually shoot at nearby zombies, causing explosions that kill any zombies nearby.

11:56 Vardøhus fortress is my favourite example of this. For one, I absolutely love vivaldi's Winter, and it just fits so well.
You spend the game fighting your way to the docks. You have only one shot to make it out of here, and that is to call a ship and board it. After lighting the lighthouse and setting up barricades on the dock, a literal progress bar that shows how close you are to losing, you wait, and the horde arrives.
Vivaldi's winter starts up. The quick violins give a sense of fear and desperation,mixed in with heavy apprehension. Slowly, but surely, you start to be pushed back.
But then, the desperation gives way to determination, as the music swells. The horde's advance is slowing, and the occasional officer's charge even lets you regain some ground.
But then, slowly, the determination starts to erode. The boat still hasn't shown up yet. You're losing men by the minute, and what ground you gained has been lost again. The music starts to fade.
But then, it starts up again, this time in a major key. The boat is coming, and you will survive, but you must hold fast. The frantic determination returns, punctuated by this change in music.
Then, the boat starts to come out of the fog, as the music starts to regain its more orchestral elements.
Then, it becomes more frantic than it has ever been before,as the boat slowly pulls up to the dock, as you are slowly pushed back, but then the momentum shifts, as the boar stops. The music reaches its climax as you all pile on the boat and escape.
Love the dead island reference in the intro skit.

This game just feels like a Roblox Left 4 Dead.
You can't fully fend off against a horde and can only run away, you can somehow survive through tight training but will most likely get cornered and die.
You can't escape alone when a runner has pinned you down.
You can't beat San Sebastian alone on the last checkpoint.
You always gotta be wary, if you're on the frontline you can get bombed or axed, if you're on the backline you can get ambushed and pinned down, if you're in the middle you can get burned by igniter, you can never be careless.
The thumbnail is perfect for a hellish game

To be fair, it says on the wiki that since the game is still in development the devs haven’t really been working out the lore. Hopefully when the game is finished we can get some interesting stuff. (Also little side note: I love the little Easter eggs like the French writing on the wall at the start of the catacombs)
there is actually some lore.... in the hougomont endless map there is a newspaper in the second floor of one of the buildings that gives some lore...
