Prototype is an open-world action-adventure video game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Activision for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows platforms in 2009. In 2015, a re-release of the game was released as part of the Prototype Biohazard Bundle for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
Prototype takes place in modern New York, on a detailed model of the island of Manhattan, where, as the game's plot progresses, an epidemic spreads, turning the townspeople into bloodthirsty mutants.
The main character of the game, a young man named Alex Mercer, discovers that he has superhuman abilities and is forced to hide in Manhattan from the intelligence services and the military, who consider him the culprit of the epidemic. Under player control, Alex Mercer can move freely in the open world of the game, fighting a variety of opponents - from mutants to military equipment - and collecting information about what is happening.
