This is truly a wonderful animation. The way this epic battle is portrayed, how it builds up to this massively decisive moment, just for a wave to come crashing down. It truly is a work of art, showing how far one's childish imagination can take them on adventures such as this one.
When we were kids our imaginations ran wild while playing, no matter where it was. Great video 👍👍

Every frame of this video is absolutely breathtaking...I have never in my life ever seen such amazing animation...and 1..the water looks realistic..and 2 the sand physics look amazing..this almost seems like this would be on TVs at the store

You play as the sand soldiers and can pull from the sand and combine into various war machines from medieval times. With shells as armor.
Various forms of sea life being the antagonist
You could do local split screen and online play where players could combine into single forms they both control.
A wordless story
Call the game Sands of Time
The overall plot being that nothing lasts forever, and no matter how hard you fight and the battles you win, eventually everything is wiped away by the sea, however depending on how dark you like your stories, the end could be happyish: the sand soldiers come back after the wave comes, and it's rebuilt again over and over.
Pros: effectively only one decal is needed for most of the assets as most are made of the same material.
A wordless take on the story would mean less work and people all in all.
Everything that isn't sand gets to be really detailed
Cons: since no dialogue, the game would need VERY good choreography
The shadow simulation would need to be SUBURB since most of the game would be the same textures, shadows would be one of the only ways to see finer details.

This is the type of thing younger me would imagine, and not just with sand castles. Pretty much any toy with characters and some kind of buildings, and I would even draw stick figures and 2D fights like this.

Brilliant - beyond my comprehensive capability as to how these 'animations' are made.
The film is definitely thought provoking - I believe it just shows that we are wrapped up in our own little fight for existence but there is a bigger existence encompassing everything!

I just want to give my biggest respects to whoever did the music for this film. It was more moving and passionate than any actual film I’ve seen to date. I love this film so much for many reasons but the music is my absolute number 1. Great work on this guys

Actually I think this animation got the award is because, in the ending, it show a lot of thing:
-the castle is made by childrens
-the crab(well... its a smol crab but in the animation, its a big crab)
-the tsunami is just a small wave
-the pearl is a glass ball
And lastly, the sand soldiers are made out of imagination(and inspired by some shells).
It's just makes you so touched that childrens' imagination is so wild(I cant find a better word) and innocent.
True story it happened to me at the beach.
A crab destroyed my little nephews castle and the wave came swallowed everything up.
