      In the comics during the 1970’s the armor was charged by solar energy. But if memory serves me right, he would sometimes run out of power especially during extended night combat. So in the late 1980s’, they gave him a new power source that was more robust and reliable.

Then later, the movie sets up the Loki and Nat scene and it isn’t until the end that you realise she pulled the same trick. Asgardian metal is a substance called Uru. It's supposed to be equal to if not stronger than vibranium. Thor and Loki's armor is made of Uru which is why Loki had bullets bounce off him and why Thor's hammer is so strong. Without this metal Asgardians can take normal damage.

      @Alewaxon Před 9 měsíci +13

      I feel like I'm going around "correcting" comments but I'm not trying to do it in a bad way... Yes, there is a metal called Uru and yes, it is one of the strongest materials known in the universe, but a couple of things
      1) It isn't actually "Asgardian"; in fact if it is to be tied to an specific place it would be "Nidavellir", and even tho it's part of the "realms", it isn't Asgardian per se
      2) There is no actual confirmation that any of their clothing or armor is made of Uru metal, not in the MCU at least
      and 3) and perhaps more to the point... Thor and Loki, but specially Thor, ARE BULLETPROFF... There is not an specific instance of Thor being shot with a bullet in the MCU, but simply connecting the dots would tell you that they are indeed bulletproof... Loki isn't wearing battle armor when he got shot, he was wearing his casual attire; and if you watch that scene he actually got shot IN THE HEAD and it did nothing... Also Thor is durable enough to withstand faster and stronger projectiles in other scenes and more importantly, attacks from far far far stronger opponents than a simple bullet... If he can take a punch and a shard of ice from a Frost giant (who are far stronger, world conquering beings) or, more shockingly, several hits from the Hulk (who's one of the strongest characters in Marvel that can literally shatter worlds and is also, btw, bulletproof) that barely drew some tiny amount of blood... Then it stands to reason that a bullet, no matter the caliber, would simply bounce off... And that's with the evidence of the scenes we have this far, to not go into spoiler territory

    The conflict between Steve & Tony was also generational. Steve is from the Greatest Generation, while Tony is part of Generation X. Carrying the sceptre that could control the minds of other people also affected Loki by being in its vicinity too, which is why he looks off and some of the things he said aren’t totally based in reality (eg thinking Thor threw him into the abyss). Calling Thor and Loki gods does not make them unbeatable or unkillable. They are 1500ish years old which makes them gods to us because they have been around so long and their powers would make them look like gods to primitive people.

  • @pieceofgosa
    @pieceofgosa Před 9 měsíci +9

    Asgardians are gods but with a small "g". They're not actual deities, they're just really strong aliens with advanced technology that ancient humans worshipped as gods. There are an untold number of beings in the MCU considerably more powerful than an Asgardian, including some honest-to-goodness, upper-case "G" Gods. As for the Hulk, canonically he's one of the strongest Marvel characters ever created, at least in terms of raw strength. He can't warp reality or anything but in a 1v1 he can go toe-toe with almost anybody. The MCU plays around with power levels quite a bit (for example, Steve is a LOT stronger in the MCU than he traditionally is in the comics) & to be totally honest it isn't always 100% consistent. As with anything in film, the needs of the story will outweigh the desire to stick to existing canon every dang time.

    • @michelleneedsahobby

    • @pieceofgosa

      @@michelleneedsahobby Absolutely. If someone needs to do something way beyond what they've been capable of before then they grit their teeth & they "find something inside themselves" to get it done. Conversely, sometimes Loki gets taken out by an trick arrow. Don't get too hung up on "there's no way he could have done that". Down that path, only madness lies. Trust me, I've been reading comics for over 30 years. Stan Lee was the sweetest guy ever but one question he'd get from fans famously used to drive him crazy. He HATED when people would ask "who would win in a fight, X or Y ?" He used to say to them "whoever the writer wants to win" & that's really the bottom line :D

But for movies, if Thor was as powerful and strong as he is in the comics, he could pretty much handle things on his own and there wouldn't be a need for the others I suppose. However, stay tuned. The Hulk can get stronger the angrier he get though and has a great healing factor. It’s really close but it’s been counted that Thor has won more fights overall in their history. (Canon and non canon) It’s not surprising because Thor was literally created to beat the Hulk because at the time there was no other character that could stand up to him.

    Hey, a word of advice: DO NOT BELIEVE EVERY COMMENT YOU GET IN THESE VIDEOS. A lot of times, there are people who don't know anything about the characters and, for some reason, like to spread false information. That comment about Thor and Loki not being gods and that Tony and Steve could take him without his hammer is bullshit. Thor and Loki are gods; Thor is the God of Thunder, and Loki is the god of Mishief. When you keep watching the MCU, you'll see how many times they are referred to as gods. And Thor is one of the most powerful Marvel superheroes; he has beaten Hulk multiple times and viceversa. The MCU does nerf the characters a lot, so there are many characters in the MCU that are nerfed including Hulk and Thor, but still, Thor is one of the most powerful characters. And Tony and Steve can't beat him. As you saw in the fight, Tony attacks were just pushing Thor back; they did absolutely nothing, just tickles, while Thor was damaging the armor. Thor and Hulk are in a league of their own; then it's Iron Man (he is the most powerful non powered Marvel superhero) then Steve (which they buffed in the MCU because he is peak human in the comics, but in the MCU seems more like low level superhuman) then Black Widow (she has a weak version of the super serum, weaker than the comics, but they did a horrible job explaining that to the audience, that’s why she was able to take a slap from Hulk. Which it wasn’t a slap with full strength of course, but still) and Hawkeye.

    The Only reason Thor and Loki and rest of Asguardians are considered "gods" are because they are a species way stronger and durable than average humans who has magical abilities they trained to develop. So we perceived them as gods. In reality Thor is just a super strong elite race of Aliens just like the rest of em. Even Odin is a king, an emperor or worlds he fought and conquered. 'god' clearly is just a term to denote that kinda alien specimens. Hulk is a similarly superior being who is unbeatable by most beings.

      @@ChrisAnthonyGiles Nope, wrong. Watch Black Widow again. In the opening scene, after their adoptive dad "sells" Natasha and Yelena and we get the Black Widow montage of the girls training, you can clearly see the blue serum in one of the scenes, and Natasha took a slap from Hulk; she fell from a building and landed on her feet like nothing while the other broke her foot. She does have the serum; it's just way weaker than in the comics, and they did a horrible job giving that information to the audience.

      Your proof is a millisecond long scene in an opening montage showing liquid that coulda been anything yet, in the 22 movies prior, not a mention of her being superhuman was ever spoken???
      Your proof is kinda shaky.
      She's a cooler and more interesting character without the serum.

      @@ChrisAnthonyGiles Do you know how to read? I said adoptive dad, he was their adoptive father, and I said "sell" them; I didn't mean that he literally sold them.
      And the serum was blue; knowing the comics and the characters, it was very specific, and Natasha also said, "Filling me with all sorts of chemicals." And those two feats I mentioned prove that she is definitely enhanced.
      And I disagree completely. Natasha with the serum has lived for over 90 years and is the perfect spy; she is hot and used it to her advantage to get what she wanted in missions over the years, and being so old gives her so much more experience and makes her way more interesting. Natasha with the serum is way better.

    I am very familiar with Whedonverse styles of writing.
    If you've seen his shows then you'd recognize it.
    Me and my friend didn't realize until certain scenes that the styling seemed familiar and there were Whedonverse easter egg actors throughout.
    We were so excited that we got it.
    Although different writers/directors write and direct throughout the MCU, and some are definitely better than others, the Avenger movies are their own comparison category.
    To me, number 2 is the weakest, but this got us hyped for phase 2.

And another thing! The hulk is a GOD! He is an omega level super soldier! There is no limit to the hulks strength.The angrier he gets the stronger he gets and he is immortal like thor!

    Comic wise, the avengers were never really popular and neither were these characters solo comics for the most part besides hulk at times. The head comics as far as popularity for marvel at different points were always fantastic four, the X-men, and spidey of course. Which is why those were the movies that were so big back in the day. The mcu and the first avenger pretty much jumped the popularity of iron man, cap, Thor, Hawkeye, fury, and Natasha up by 10. Now they are looked at in a much better light. Oh and just to lyk, the asguardians are referred to as gods but they aren’t actually gods in the sense of immortal beings. They are more just super powered humanoid aliens kind of like kryptonians (ala superman)

    25:02 In the regular Marvel comics, Iron Man’s suits are strong enough to let him duke it out with the Hulk and Thor. Captain America is just a bit stronger or faster than an Olympic level athlete.
    But the MCU movies are based upon an early 2000’s re-imagining of the Marvel Heroes called The Ultimates. In the Ultimates, Captain America isn’t just physically perfect his body is now well into the superhuman range for strength, speed and durability. In one Ultimates comics, Cap actually crotch kicked the Hulk and in another he punched out a giant.
    Also Ultimate Captain America is a bit of a jerk and kinda sadistic…but still Mr. True Blue Patriot.
    Ultimate Black Widow is a super soldier just not at Cap’s level…and Tony’s girlfriend
    Ultimate Hawkeye has cybernetic eye implants that give him perfect aim. He can literally pick up anything to use as a throwing weapon.

    I adore how upset you get that Thor is getting beat up by Hulk. You keep mentioning Thor being a god. But Thor isn't a god. He's an alien that heals quicker than a Human and can live about 5000 years as opposed to 100. he only seems godlike to the less strong Human, but really, he's just a tough alien. 🙂

  • @TetsuoVI
    @TetsuoVI Před 9 měsíci

    Great reaction, as usual, but I noticed something which could make your MCU experience better. Constantly mentioning so-and-so is a god and should not be so weak. Religions and mythologies were created by primitive peoples to explain things they didn't understand and in the MCU they actually interact with individuals they perceived as being immortal and impervious to injury. As far as those primitive people are concerned that's pretty true but as we evolved we learned (and in IRL) to primitive people, sufficient gaps in advanced technology are indistinguishable from magic, even though in the MCU space magic is it's own thing. But even in those traditions, gods could still be wounded, Odin's lost eye is a perfect example. Thor even says he's from a world where magic and technology are one in the same. Compared to us dumb, puny, short lived humans, characters like Thor are just really strong, smart and long lived space magic people.
    Now fast forward to present day, where we have advanced enough to close that performance gap where we are now encroaching on the territory of "gods". Ironman is a perfect example. Tony is top tier smart, so much so his technological prowess makes the god's physicality, intelligence and space magic less (but clearly not all) of a performance issue in combat. And Hulk himself could be considered a god of rage, where he is already incredibly strong (we call it his base level of strength) but as his anger grows, so does his strength, and he get's pretty mad at Thor; the movies only address this strength factor briefly. Lastly, Thor mentions in this movie humanity has indicated its ability to engage in a higher form of war. An impervious god would not consider that a threat but he does because others like him do. Sorry for the length. Keep up the great work!
