White bass (sandies, my state fish), have a lot of broken lines, hybrids have tighter lines but some will be broken. Striper (striped bass) will have very dark unbroken lines. It’s not uncommon for us to catch forty or fifty sandbass at a time on a good day.
Just went outside and found a giant Texas spiny softshell turtle in the creek in my backyard. He was in a really shallow part of the creek and he couldn't even swim in it and it's over 94 degrees over here so I picked him up and brought him to the deepest part of the creek. I come back sweaty and tired and I see Nick posted and I said yep today is a good day.

i tell you what, I hate most youtube content on fishing, but i feel yours is more relatable since i live in southern Indiana. We've always fished in weird spillways, creeks, and rivers too so i appreciate the content.
White bass are rounded with straight body lines and a single tooth patch, Striped bass and Hybrid Bass (Whipers) have 2 tooth patches, The striped bass are more torpedo shaped and the Hybrid Bass have broken body lines and rounded. We had all 3 in one of reservoirs here in Kansas and they are all hard fighters and fun to catch. From what I saw what you were catching were White Bass.
I am glad you went back to that spillway, the fishing there seems amazing and what great fish. I haven't been fishing for a few weeks and you fill the gaps. Thanks Nick.
I love the fact that Nick skates to some of his locations that require a walk. His balance is amazing!! But he cant seem to stay upright on two feet 😆 love him! Absolutely adorable and Maddie too ✌🤪❤
The ticks are awful this year...evil little critters! Those white bass love to school up like that and crush baitfish, if you hit them right you can just about pull one every cast while they are feeding.
honestly makes me so happy that you found this spot. You can still call it a spillway AND its in a main river so you have a better chance of catching giants

6-1-Skate Fishing back at it! We have the Hybrid Bass here (Wipers). They are my favorite fish to catch. Those look a lot like them but the black lines that run their sides aren’t broken up, so I’m gonna lean toward white bass. Keep em coming Nick!
Again, alot of nice fish from that location. The slow down must have been the weather or feed times. 🤔 you should look into where that water outlet is coming from. Looking at the surroundings it kinda looks like a power plant outlet. Might also explain the barge traffic so close as well. I do wonder what caused the injuries on the grass carp. Were they prop injuries or radiation/chemical burns?

Awesome! That's what you call a honey hole. White Bass are good to eat when they are fresh. Just be sure to remove the red meat in the center of the fillet.

Try using an 8’ or better cast net. It’ll sink much faster than that tiny thing you’re throwing. You’ll possibly destroy a net or two, but you’ll be much more successful overall. Good luck!

White bass as far as I can tell. Hybrids have a break in the black lines in the middle. Great video!
Yep, white bass. Some of the hardest fighting freshwater fish.

Most rivers a cast net won't disturb your fishing. I throw my net right where I striper fish. I catch fish right after I get bait
