The girl singing Over The Rainbow's voice reminds me of the original voice of Dorothy in the old movies. It's a deep-ish voice. I think that, with more technique, she could be amazing. And no problem with the accent.

They are both extremely blunt people when it comes to critiquing others in the field they consider themselves an expert in but they aren't genuinely dickheads to people when its not warranted (there have been times both Ramsay and Simon have gone off on rude people) but I've never heard them make mean comments about appearance or mental health or anything like that.

@Alex Arand Nerves can absolutely affect your voice. If you're nervous you will get very tense and have a harder time controlling your muscles. It's also very common to not sing out as much if you're too self conscious. You can ask any song teacher or experienced singer about this yourself if you doubt me.
@Alex Arand Really? When a person is super anxious in particular social situations, their normal speaking voice can be greatly impacted. People, like myself, that struggle with public speaking are a good example of that. My heart races, I can't seem to breathe properly, and my regular voice becomes shaky, breathy, and quiet. I'm not saying she would've been an amazing singer if she wasn't nervous, but it's simply untrue that nerves couldn't have been a factor. I mean, you must not ever deal with anxiety in social situations if you think poor technique is the only thing that can be responsible for breathiness.

She could be having an extreme anxiety attack or mental breakdown. If you're used to them, you can consele attacks like that pretty well.

When they laughed at the girl with the accent singing Over the Rainbow, that was when I really got upset. These judges are already mean, but with the jockey girl and this girl they just took it too far. It made me really upset because it reminded me of when people judged my mom for having an accent. I don’t like that they were laughing at the jockey girl. I’m sure she wouldn’t have sounded bad, if they were falling from laughing so hard. @@amirpalamar7133 I agree that Simon does have a harsh rep, but I got to give him two credits here. 1., he has the expertise to back him up and the balls to save you money (rather than letting someone waste thousands on studio time to fail)
And 2. He's Brittish. Using Gordon Ramsay as an example, the Chef's Brittish cooking show is quite mild compared to the American one, where the directors told him to be an ass.
Putting those together, I do agree that he is harsh, but he is pretty professional and doesn't sugar coat things.

And in some of these clips you have to applaud that he was trying to be professional and was getting annoyed that those two wouldn’t shut up for apprentice jockey girl to sing. Sometimes I love Simon, and sometimes I hate him. And it’s probably because of how you mention the attitude of the host not being consistent depending if it’s the UK or US version. Like Gordon - I’ve seen some of his UK episodes and he’s actually fairly calm and polite unless someone is being incredibly stupid. But watch the US episodes and he’s always made out to be a dick - but I feel it’s more the fault of my fellow Americans who can be stubborn idiots, and plenty who still think we’re the best country in the world 🙄. But you can tell who the real Gordon is if you watch his show where it’s kids cooking. He tries to encourage people and be passionate about cooking - he’ll only be an ass if you act like you can do no wrong no matter how much evidence he gives you that you ARE wrong.

It's because they're rude and are only really looking for a stereotypical Taylor Swift type of girl, so anyone that isn't like that gets laughed off immediately. She was a good singer, but she laughs when they do because I don't think she fully understood that they were laughing at her because they're rude.. it's why I hate watching this show and shows like x factor and got talent cause they do the exact same.
