- Here is legendary voice and radio personality Mel Blanc from the 1983-84 syndicated version of This Is Your Life, hosted by Joseph Campanella with special guest Chuck Jones. Sorry for the technical difficulties at times.
This brings tears to my eyes. I don't think that the modern audience realizes what he did for the world. Truly a remarkable man.
I have tremendous respect for both Mel Blanc and Chuck Jones. They WERE Warner Bros. Animation and part of so many of our lives growing up
There is a mountain of talent in the world, Mel Blanc sits at the top. Thats All Folks....R.I.P.
Sad there all gone now, im in my 40’s, grew up on Looney Tunes, and still love it. Thanks for the memories
I thin Mel Blanc was genuinely humbled by this tribute to his talents are career. He seems like that kind of a person.
Mel kept asking the casting director for an audition and the casting director kept telling him we have enough voices. After over a year of asking the casting director, the casting director died and the new guy finally gave him a chance and the rest is history.
Arguably the most talented man ever to come out of Hollywood.
What a wonderful man. I went to Wikipedia and read interesting things about him. He has a simple gravestone with "That's all folks" on it. It isn't all as long as we can replay those wonderful cartoons we grew up with.
I wish it would have said (like Porky Pig) the theuh, the theuh, the theuh, that's all folks. What an AWESOME man. thanks, Mel, for making my childhood WONERFUL!
I grew up with Mel Blanc and never had seen him interviewed. What a talented and humble human being. The story of his car accident is incredible! Definitely will need to read up on this legend.
The accident occurred on the infamous "Dead Man's Curve" popularized in the Jan and Dean song of the same name per the Wikipedia article of his bio.
Simply put Mel Blanc is the GREATEST character voice over actor there will ever be! NO ONE will ever come close to the talent that Mel possessed!
Frank Welker comes close in terms of talent, but he doesn't come across as outgoing as the great Mr. Blanc.

I had loved him as a child and still love him! I think he was the most wonderful voice artist. There will never be another like him. His associations with Mr. Jack Benny are just hilarious.
Brilliant to watch Mel Blanc a genius at cartoon character voices, its a pity there wasn't a video that didn't have so many faults including low sound.

Mel and Chuck...thank you the art you guys created for my childhood
Mel Blanc had a God given voice/es . He really was blessed by God. He was meant to show the world that this world with its problems is still a beautiful place, and that we are meant to laugh alot too.
In tears seeing his neurosurgeon showed up for this great occasion!
He was the best actor of all time if you stop and think about it. Changing roles like he did constantly.
Such admiration for this man. He made my childhood truly special. Utmost respect and love for Mel Blanc. Thank you for everything you did for us kids growing up back in the days during the golden age of cartoons. RIP sir

Mr. Blanc you were tops with me and I'm thankful I grew when cartoons were the best. You'd be very disappointed in what kids watch today. Thank God we have you on tape to watch over and over again. You were the man!!
What a sweet man. It's interesting: do you notice just how many of the voices Mel recognizes? far more than any other guest of honour I've ever seen on this show. He really did have an incredible gift for voices.
Apparently it wasn't just performing voices he was good at, but recognizing them too.
Mel, you enriched the world with your fantastic talent, we all salute you !!
Mel Blanc was and still is an icon in the animation and voice acting industry. He'll always be remembered for bringing to life countless characters by their voices.

I'm thinking of maybe one day going to cast in for Elmer Fudd, Speedy, Sylvester, or Daffy. Those are the ones I can do best. Daffy's voice is basically just Sylvester's but sped up for craziness.

Mel said once that Bugs was his main charachter nearest to his heart and it makes sense as it was "Bugs" that was the part of his brain that was still kicking despite the coma :D
Blanc was excellent on the "Jack Benny Program"....and survived being Jack's violin teacher....

The strange irony is that Mel Blanc passed away on his successor, Jeff Bergman's 29th birthday(Jeff is still Bugs Bunny)- Mel helped pave the way for today's animation voice-over kings, namely Frank Welker and Jim Cummings!!!
Shame that they did not have a better Video of this Show etc, RIP Mel you are sadly missed by all of your Fans etc.

Mel and Jack Benny were very close friends. Not many know this, but Jack told the hospital and the doctors to send him the bills, that Jack would pay for everything Mel would need. How's that for a friend/boss?

Mel was not just the voice of the characters; he was the creator of the characters.
Mel Blanc wasn't Elmer Fudd til after Arthur Q Bryan passed away. (Especially during the 1970s to 1989.) Though Mel did rarely filled in at times.
TheFashiongirl23 No, in exchange for no raise Leon Schlesinger who was the producer of the Looney Tunes shorts back then gave him on screen credit even if Mel himself didn't voice the character. Like with Elmer. Again there was a few times in the original shorts that Mel did do some lines as Elmer. For example the Smog line from What's Opera Doc. Or if he had few lines. But it was an actor named Arthur Q Bryan who was Elmer's voice during most of the original shorts. The specials on the otherhand, yes that was Mel. But not the original shorts with few exemptions. Even Hal Smith and Dave Berry did Elmer in three combined shorts. With Hal voicing Elmer after Arthur's death. Berry filled in for one short while Arthur was still alive.
TheFashiongirl23 I already said why. Mel got an exclusive contract at Warner Brothers and exchange for not giving him a raise Schlesinger gave him solo voice credit instead. There's even of clip of Arthur on You Tube using Elmer"s voice.

This is great! And hosted by Joseph Campanella, who's still with is at 91 yrs. young. 1984,....the year I graduated from high school. This is the kind of thing I used to come home and watch at lunch my senior year. Love Mel! Love him.
I've said for many year,...a shame that no one had the foresight to record audio of him doing some of the great cartoons he voiced.
I never get tired of watching Mel Blanc or listening to him. He was such a genius, and watching him on reruns of The Jack Benny Show is the best!

THE ONLY VEGETABLE THAT MY MOM COULD GET ME TO EAT WILLINGLY WAS CARROTS BECAUSE IN MY LITTLE GIRL IMAGINATION I WAS BUGS BUNNY WHENEVER I HAD A CARROT IN MY HAND. AND TODAY AS A DISABLED ADULT, WHENEVER A NURSE WOULD ACCESS MY PORT-A-CATH I WOULD DO A BUGS BUNNY OH I'M DYING ROUTINE B4 THEY ACCESSED THE PORT. WHEN THE NURSE POINTED OUT THAT SHE HADN'T TOUCHED ME YET, I WOULD POINT TO THE CEILING, BUGS BUNNY STYLE AND SAY THAT I WAS PRACTICING. AFTER THEY ACCESSED THE PORT I WOULD ASK THEM WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG. THEY WOULD TELL ME THEY WERE FINISHED AND I WOULD LOOK AND DO A VERY GOOD BUGS I'M DYING ROUTINE WITH THE OH THE PAIN THE AGONY AND DO THE BUGS CHOKING DYING ROUTINE
TOOK THEM ALL A WHILE TO FIGURE OUT THAT I WAS JOKING BUT I REALIZED THAT IN DOING THIS THE PAIN WAS NOT SO BAD.
