me: "Jesus, should I buy this new book?"
Jesus: "Show me the latest new books you read."
me: "I have no new books I've read."
Jesus: "You are right in saying, 'I have no new books I've read,' for you have twenty-six new books, and the ones you now own you have not read."

I use the little red Antiochian paper prayer book most of the time.
I also use Jordanville and the Orthodoxy Study Bible prayer section.
I also have the Antiochian Western Rite Service Book which has a entire Psalter included but the prayer section is rather lack luster.

How right on you are, even though it's too late for me. I'm a bit of a liturgical history nerd, so . . . In defense of the Anthologion, I would remind you that it was a work for the time of the recent Great Inconvenience. And although the translation is often odder than I would like, it does have a rich variety of material that is not in any of the smaller prayer books. And, as I attend an OCA parish, and the OCA Prayer Book is perhaps the least comprehensive, I find the Anthologion a good daily driver, to use a much over-used term. I kinda miss the old Breviary, though. But, alas, it's 120 miles to the nearest traditional Catholic Mass.

I do understand that, and to be honest, I use the Anthologion very often. (It actually works pretty well as just a prayer book, even if the translation is wonky.) I do look wistfully towards my old Roman Breviary and Monastic Diurnal from time to time. I've been meaning to do more Western liturgical stuff, but have to find the time to write and brainstorm a bit. Perhaps something on the ancient Roman Holy Week and its (fundamentally) Eastern theology will be in order after Great Lent begins.

I am also looking for something similar to help follow along in liturgy. I just received the orthodox Christian prayer book and I have been going on the OCA website and printing out the text/rubric for the Divine Liturgy of the week. I wish there was something that was all in one like a missal.

It is a conundrum! I rather like the UOC-USA book for this purpose, but (a) if you try to use it at an English liturgy that uses a different translation, you will stay confused, and (b) even if (a) is inapplicable, the UOC-USA prayer book does not reproduce the readings. It only cites to them. Thanks for dropping by! More content is on the way, so stay tuned!

Yeah the Anthologion was/is a bit of a let down. There is a four volume Italian edition that is a bit better - although there are a few odd translation choices in that set too.

I would go with whatever is published by your jurisdiction.

I live in Vietnam and Orthodoxy is in its infancy and they dont have such things and the Government hates religion in any shape or form as its Communist.@@TheRomanOrthodox
