Sam i dont think embargos matter as much as they did a few years ago, i only watch your channel and JWW for car reviews nowadays and dont mind watching the same car on both. i think a lot of people are more interested in the way a presenter shows the car compared with the car itself. id watch your video on the new 'whatever' but would never watch that car on any other channel if that makes any sense lol

Unfortunately that is probably the case for most of use viewers here, Especially on the podcast channel, but a lot of the views also come from "the masses" who Tony briefly mentioned also decided the mercedes changes. There's a small circle of real car enthusiasts and then there's a huge market of just your average Joe that doesn't care much about cars but is still interested in buying some or another sports car for the weekend or even just to show off.

@@anthonyjarvis9472 He wasn't wrong though. His options were fairly straightforward: Go the Mr. JWW route n showcase the ultra luxurious lifestyle or go Shmee's route n put out at least one video a day on every car he can get his hands on or the car build route like Mat Armstrong but each route would mean fairly strong competition n it'd be quite difficult to gain more new subs n be able to maintain viewership because not everyone wants to watch videos on the same car from 4-5 different reviewers. So sticking to his core audience base while also carving out his own niche, in my opinion, was the best decision he's made, especially so with the *_Drive the world series_* . Only thing I wish was different is that he would have taken the Carrera T to every country he visited n drove them there. That would've really have set him apart from all his competition.

      @Tjescoo Před měsícem

It's mostly because customers demand ridiculous 'features' such as all the infotainment systems, automatic everything from boot lid to mirrors, cameras all over the place and then the governments make it worse with their insane safety system requirements, let alone the stuff that needs to be done to make them 'clean'.
If there's a brand that dares to make actual cheap cars (as Dacia was supposed to be) with nothing more than the essentials, it will be criticized by the spoiled brats who can afford today's new cars and the ones who can't will just buy second hand cars with heated seats and adaptive cc, because they want to feel rich like everybody else.
The manufacturers will change as soon as the demand does. Change your expectations from a car before wanting its price to go down.

I am in an interesting situation now and i wonder if maybe lots of people are in the same spot. I live in Belgium and have a company car. EV’s are being pushed massively by the government. I am however a huge petrolhead and love my classics and petrol engines. Still i chose an EV for my next company car just beceause it was the most exciting option as a car lover. All the other company cars i could choose are little 1.5 petrol engins with 130hp like mini countryman, bmw 2 series gran coupe… which are all good cars no question but in the ‘same overal budget’ there was a BMW i4. Personally i thought it was a no brainer at that point and i ordered the i4 without thinking twice while i am not a massive EV fan. Would anyone agree?

The new Vantage has the same problem of all modern cars (outside of sound), numb steering. Not knowing what the front tires are doing and having no feedback kills that connection. Plus I think that engine deserves a DCT. The ZF is great for a wafter / GT but if they’ve placed it as an out and out sports car it should have a DCT which they can also use in the Halo stuff (Vanquish etc) leave the DB12 to be the Super Tourer with a ZF 🤪

The cars themselves would be scrutinized far higher than they ever were in era and are much safer
The tyres they are using are modern tyres that have compounds not available in their era

I know team strategy is not a strong suit at Ferrari but he’s made plenty of mistakes himself. I’m just not sure he’s a way better driver than his teammate. Charles crashed at the historic race 2 years ago in a car from the 70s.

Also, being fast in quali doesn't mean you'll be fast over 50+ laps.
The Ferrari has been awful on its tires in race trim for years and one of the reasons they are so fast over one lap is because it's so easy for them to get the tires going but in a race stint that's the worst thing that can happen since the tires wear way too fast. It was exactly the same for HAAS last year, great on Saturdays but dogshit on Sundays because the car ate tires like crazy.

You keep saying you are not against EV’s but again you are bagging them about no sales…. Really show your stats for this. The legacy makers have had years to gear up for this but ignored it thinking it was going away and here we are and it’s not. You cant keep living in the last guys just because you like the smell of toxic fumes and noise. These vehicles are polluting the air we all breathe each and everyday. I get the feeling of the revs and sound and engagement you get from those cars I was the same but we need to change and it’s coming faster than you realise and if they don’t join they will be gone. Sad but true. You can’t use Bugatti and Ferrari etc as examples of not going to EV’ s as there customer base and lower volumes are able to survive this. High volume makers are the ones who will suffer if they don’t change.

Electric vehicles are not the ultimate answer. Passenger vehicles only account for approx 10% of CO2 emmisions. Large corporations are polluting the air to a much larger extent, due to negligent manufacturing processes. And any regulations to stop them are offset by useless "carbon credits". The processes used to create these batteries and charge these vehicles is just as harmful as ICE vehicles, if not more so. The issue of pollution is incredibly complex and will not be solved by BEVs. And this is only in the West, countries like China and India are heavy polluters who are not beholden to the same regulations.

The manufacturers have tried though and they’ve said themselves the take up is too slow.
VW closed its EV plant last summer for an extended summer break and wrote a letter to the powers that be in Germany, citing “customer reluctance”.
If you’ve been quick to give up your ICE cars and don’t mind, good for you, but for most petrolheads we are thinking why should we?! Why should we give up our hobby, passion and in some cases livelihoods.
What do you propose we do with all of our classic and sports cars? Crush them? How “green” is that?? 🤔
And if we are honest the only people buying EVs are business users for the huge perks. Any private buyer choosing an EV must be mad or have money to burn. The residuals are so bad it’s ridiculous and hilarious in equal measure. Only a mug would by an EV privately. A wealthy mug, but a mug all the same. 😄
