    I too thought it was the best thing since sliced bread at first, but once you get to know it after a while, it's got it's quirks.

    if you are going mudding like we do here in TX make sure you do a radiator relocate or you will over heat in 15 mins. We have the 2012 commander limited and have been happy with it

    Thanks for the explanation! I'm looking at buying my first UTV and wasn't sure what to look for. I was primarily interested in a RZR or RZR clone as I live in the suburbs and wouldn't really use a utility UTV. I'm mainly interested in dry trails, zero mudding.

    just got mine last week and love it really comparing a rzr to the commander is like comp a ds 450 to a 800 outlander.----commander lots of room power storeage a real bed that can dump a real hitch i rode with a rzr this weekend it is a nice little machine for something i am sure just not for me and is not even a close drag race

    The S is actually 10 inches wider than the standard rzr. And really it's up to you. I know that some of the ATV trails wont allow UTV's, even if they do comply with the 50 inch regulation. But if you plan on riding on trails that ATV's use and there is no 50 inch wide gate then, judging by how well mine fits you should be fine. But even if you do get the 50 inch rzr you have to remember that even with its smaller size it is still a UTV and its still longer than an ATV so it wont corner the same

    What I mean is that if you get the standard rzr even with its smaller width than the s it may still feel to big to fit on the ATV trails. Idk but if I had to do it all again id still go with the S package.

    Good advice, thanks. What about riding the RZR S through trails? I keep reading how narrow ATV trails are. While the RZR S is only 6 more inches wider, will it matter?

    Is the Commander more of a sporty type trail UTV or more of a utility type UTV? I'm new to the UTV scene. I thought more utility based on how big the bed is.

    I'd say if your looking for performance for a good price go with the rzr s. I've got one and regardless what other people say about it I so far haven't had any problems in 3 years. And I beat the crap out if it. Its got the true electric locking front differential; the commander has the visco lock which isn't as good as a true locker. The Rzr s also has a lower center of gravity and better suspension so you can drift easier on flat corners and also show off on the bigger jumps ;)

    manual or automatic trans?

  • @UnlimitedJK34
    @UnlimitedJK34 Před 12 lety

    Its good on the trails, especially with the piggy back shock package and the 1000 engine, But its more of a sport utility UTV, meaning that it is fairly decent for both work or play. The other sport utility UTV's out there are the yamaha rhino and the kawasaki teryx. The Commander is better than both of those for work and play. However the Rzr s and the rzr xp are both better pure sport UTV,s than the commander. And the polaris Ranger is better than the commander for just work.
