Iloved that Kumu Mark honored the project of a couple of years ago when many of us helped digitize the newspapers of the late 19th century. I haven't seen the former keiki since Kalu was a babe in arms. Time flies. Mahalo. From Oakand

This one was so fun to watch. I almost woke my husband up when it came on.

K den. I got two if you want talk about. First off, I like to watch the feet. The feet is where the dancer connects to the a'ina. Second, I like to see deep knee bends and duck walking because they show strength.
My favorite kane kahiko was the halau hi'iakainamakalehua at time 4:01 from the beginning of the broadcast.
The other was the wahine kahiko from halau ka lehua pua kamaehu from Hilo. They were excellent. What strength! It seemed like they were gliding on air across the stage. Performance starts at time 1:14 from the beginning of the broadcast.

Hiʻiakaināmakalehua was definitely one of my favorites of the night esp with how much they improved from last year. The wāhine of Kamaʻehu were brilliant in their legacy of Uncle Johnny. MAHALO!
